Retiring after 29 years of teaching, Alan Macnair stands as one of the most influential teachers Troy High has ever witnessed, and leaves behind a prodigious orchestra, and a legacy that stands as the most accomplished instructor in the school. I have been immensely influenced by his teachings, as had most of his students. As an absolutely beloved instructor, he will be missed. Best of luck to him with his future endeavors!
The one thing I miss most about high school would be orchestra under the guidance of Mr. Macnair. Brilliant role model. I miss this course so incredibly much!!!
Very dedicated to music and overall an amazing conductor. He expects a lot from everyone and rewards you if you live up to your potential.
He is the worst orchestra teacher ever, does not even bother to help you when you are truly struggling and falling behind. His placement of chairs is biased and he has clear favorites. He just depends on the special students who can afford to be tutored and will just ignore you!
Mr. Macnair is VERY dedicated to his work, making him one of the best teachers i have ever learned from. His standards for getting into symphony are high, and he is strict, but these characteristics serve only to help the orchestra get better and better.
Mr. MacNair is by far the best teacher at Troy High. It's hard not to be intimidated at first but it gets better almost immediately. He's a really nice guy if you give the class your best effort and d
Best teacher and conductor I've ever had!
Best conductor you'll ever work with. Leads whatever orchestra he commands to the very top, by making you listen to each other.
exceptional conductor, great teacher most days althought sometimes he can be a little intimidating
Great man who knows what he is doing. He has yelled at me before, but he I have too much respect for him
brilliant, brilliant conductor, very passionate about his work. so lucky to have worked with him.
awful temper, doesn't know ANYTHING about band, very unclear conducting, but extremely insightful, powerful man outside of his classroom.
I love him. He is very fair, but is very demanding. Class is an easy A tho.
Very nice conductor. Snappy, but okay. He should expect alot from us, so I guess that's why he's so... snappy.
Great teacher, has his snappy moments though..MONTREAL IN 4 DAYS. Mkay. o.o
He is an amazing conductor! He can be extremely funny and approachable. He's got his testy moments, especially before a big concert, but who doesn't?
Mr. Macnair is the best Orchestra Conductor this school could ask for. We've swept the awards all four years and did some amazing concerts in between. BIG MAC!
I had Mr. MacNair for 7 years. He's a great conductor, and because of him I went to Florida (twice!), Georgia, and New York!
MacNair is cool. You all know that deep down. HAHA. Yea, I've had him for 6 years now (including middle school) and he's cool. Even if he makes us practice...
clueless about everything that doesn't have to do with orchestra.. great conductor tho!!!
Mr. Macnair is one of my favorite teachers of all time.
