He teaches the concepts clearly and we learn how to think critically in his class. I feel like he is the only teacher that taught me science, and other teachers are not as good.
Once you get over his harshness, you will find that he's probably one of the best science teachers you will ever have. Lectures are clear and concise, and with a bit of studying his class is relatively easy to get at least a B in.
Mr. Lee is an excellent chemistry teacher. He is the toughest teacher in chemistry at Irvington, but fair. His clarity of instruction, and course layout makes sense. He provides creative tension to make sure all of his students achieve the best that they can. He is not afraid to praise the students who achieve good results.
I'm sure he's a great chemistry teacher but not so fun to have for advisory 😅
Extremely knowledgeable in chemistry, very helpful and patient when you put in the effort. Uses intimidation tactics to get students to shape up. Sexist and puts high pressure on students, but is good if you're looking for a solid chemistry teacher.
Mr. Lee is a very knowledgable teacher who really drills students hard. It's hard to get the grade you want, but you leave the class better prepared. This is personal but, even though I learned from the experience, the class dropped my self-esteem for a long time and I regretfully still panic when I think about it. But talk to Mr. Lee outside of class, he'll prove to be much more warm and approachable (:
Had AP Chemistry with him, was not very fun cause he picks on people and asks questions in such a manner where some people are just made to look stupid. To some, he motivates them to get their A's, but for others, he just puts them down, saying they won't pass or go to a good college. Like, why does he teach...
I didn't go to Irvington, but he was my tutor for honors chemistry, and he was absolutely amazing. He has a bit of a Chinese accent but nevertheless, his lectures are clear and concise.
With his help I got an 800 on SAT chem.
(the easy, exam difficulty, and textbook use are just random ratings. I had to rate them to post this.)
Was scared of him in the beginning but then got used to his shouting lol. But he's a vary helpful teacher and you actually learn a lot in his class.
I had Mr. Lee last year for AP Chem, and I can tell you it's hard. But it's manageable and I barely passed with an A. He trains you really well for the AP test and even though I wasn't the smartest kid in chem and I had trouble with a lot of the concepts, I got a 5 because he just constantly drills you and eventually you get pretty good at it from sheer practice. The end of the year is really chill and btw, Lee is an epic rapper :P
provides clear notes and examples in class, tests are time-crunched but manageable
Mr. Lee is very clear when explaining. I love his teaching style: expecting students to pay attention and self study the help sheets he gives out. His test are quite difficult; however, he does curve the score to the 2nd highest or 3rd highest grade so if everybody failed a test, grades would not plummet as much as they could have.
Mr Lee is a hard teacher, and he does shout a lot. But he cares enough to make sure you learn and is very nice when he's not under the stress of over a hundred students. He also explains clearly. One of my favorite teachers. :-)
Not a good teacher.
He's not a terribly easy teacher, but he knows how to teach students. He asks you to print out help sheets and they /do/ prepare you very well for his test and the AP test. His tests are mostly based on AP questions from previous years, so they're pretty difficult. He's really strict, but he's a very efficient teacher (and even cracks a joke once in a while)
Strict/harsh (very much so), but knows exactly what he's teaching. Teaching is crystal clear and concise, and help sheets are gold. People think his tests are hard, but if you pay attention to what he's saying in class then you'll know exactly all you need to know (not a bit more, nothing less)to ace his tests and the AP. Coaches you very well for the AP test; all the studying I did was cramming for 2 hours the night before exam. Still easy 5.
Nice guy. Fun, not mean/hard as people say.
Mr. Lee is a terrible teacher. He gives ridiculously hard tests, and treats students unfairly. During class lectures, all he does is barks his "help sheets" (lecture notes) out loud.
The class is too hard because you are required to think like crazy and then he expects you to do it all the time. This is high school and not college so why is he working us so hard. He should not be teaching at all.
He's a good teacher and explains some stuff clearly. He is really strict, and not that nice to top students. Although his class seems tough at first, most students get a "5" on the AP Chem exam.
Mr. Lee is a pretty good science teacher in general. I just had him for physics A and I got a Bplus. If only I would have done some extra credit I would have got an A. Great for initial pushes though.
Mr. Lee is a very qualified teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He knows his material in AP Chemistry and teaches very clearly. Over 60% of his students get a 5 on the AP Chemistry Exam.
hard as @#$% but you learn. One of my best teachers. SUPER efficient use of class time.
(Can I tell you a secret? He has a great sense of humor.)
INTENSIVE PROPERY WHAT IF I WERE TO GIVE YOU A MILLION DOLLARS?
One of my best teachers in all of high school. He really knows what he's doing.
Mr. Lee made me love Chem! Take AP Chem at all costs. 70% gets 5/4 on AP exam. He cares about
Despite being hard, he's a really good teacher. Overprepares you for the AP test. I still remember my chemistry after two years. Work hard and abandon your social life, or prepare to cry/suffer.
he's an amazing teacher for ap chem. Though he is really hard, you will be more than ready for the ap test. Be ready to put in a lot time for his class. I put in about 12-13 hrs a week to get an A.
mr lee is very strict and has extremely high demands, but he isnt the evil megalomaniac people make him out to be. he will sit down with you and help if you ask for it.
A really nice an funny person but a very very very very strict teacher fo AP
in regards to my earlier comment. he isn't rascist, it was because i showed up late to class every week. i was mad when i posted that. anyways, you'll pass the class if you do all your homework, but if you miss even one assignment, then your grade will suffer.
mr. lee is a really nice teacher. it is obvious to see that who is his favorite student but he treats his students equally. make sure you work hard and pay attention in his class. he dislikes people who does not work hard and give up easily. his class is even harder than ap test if you had never taken a regular chemistry class before you take ap. good teacher.
take his AP Chem and get 5 at all costs or dont bother going to college, itll save you so much work and he is great at teaching chem. last year we made thermite and burned chem bks
he was my best teacher i ever at IHS. his jokes might be stupid, corny, and he talks very rudely direct to failing students but he knows what he is talking about with chemistry.
I've hated science until I had Mr. Lee as a teacher. He's the only good science teacher I've ever had & he truly taught extremely well. Thank you for teaching me to love chemistry!
Mr. Lee lectures incredibly well and makes Chemistry seem quite interesting...it may be difficult to get an A in his AP Chemistry class, but he prepares you well for the AP test...
the class is really tough but i know im learning a lot more than i would in another "easier" chem class. it's the first class i've ever been happy to get a C in.
mr. lee is the best chem teacher ever. he knows what he is talking about. his tests/quizzes are easy if you just pay attention and study
He knows his stuff, but not good 1-1. And if you make a small mistake, he goes off onit like the sky is falling.
His chemistry class is tough. You do learn a lot from his class and he is good at teaching, but is not willing to help you individually. He is too lazy.
the classes are very challenging, but when you're all done, you'll realize how you've learned so much from them. lee's a really good teacher and very sarcastic.
If you want to pass you better work HECKA hard. Its also very time consuming. =P
His class is pretty tough. You have to study everyday. However, he is not helpful at all. If you ask him a question, he makes you feel stupid.
He's a good teacher but can be very sarcastic at times.
Mr. Lee is the coolest! best class for sure! It's ther perfect combo of learning and laughing.
you're a great teacher, however you can be intimidating at times!! ease up when people ask you for help. Other than that your great at what you teach!
mr lee is a cool teacher, his test are really hard and you have to work pretty hard in his class, but he has a lot of oppertunities to pass so he's pretty cool
mr. lee's chem class is the only class i look forward to throughout my day at school. he makes chem-is-try FUN and easy to understand, and i love it. go mr.lee!
I loved Mr Lee's class! I nearly failed but that was my own fault. I never had problems asking for help 1-1. He was always very willing to help and be friendly!
I feel that we are going to fast. It is hard to keep up and still do well in other classes.
whatever u do just don't go to him !!!! he was the worst teahcer i had who was not even willing to help me!!! then what exactly are teachers for ??? huh??!!
He's a good teacher, but when you go up to him to ask for help he seems kinda annoyed.
Mr.Lee is a great chemistry teacher, he knows what he's talking about. Just remember to study and don't slack off!!
[Likes to mark down for glitter pens.] Mr. Lee is very fun, very quriky, makes chemistry interesting and has the best jokes. His material is tough.
Cool teacher who has a mentology similar to mine about punishments. Seems to make some mistakes occassionally but fun and entertaining overall.
Ehhhh kinda unclear but he knows most of his stuff... cool nonetheless. Go science club!
