Ms.Uji is a great teacher. In class, she explains convoluted concepts really well. Sometimes, she even takes the trouble to make highly detailed drawings for us to remember stuff, introduce pneumonic devices, etc.. I really appreciate her efforts to teach our class. She gives us good study techniques and is a real gem of a teacher !
Those who "hate" her are really just lazy and are not willing to work hard - stakes are high, you have to push yourself. Otherwise you only have yourself to blame
She is the most biased teacher I have ever met. She acts all nice and kind to everyone in her class but she is actually really mean. She only cares about the people she likes and helps them because they are stressed out or have to many things going on in their life. But if I ask for something, she does not care and tells me to go figure it out.
Totally useless teacher. A lot of people like her because she's very "nice" but to me her niceness comes off as phoniness and a way of making up for the fact that she does nothing to teach the class. She gave 2-3 lectures all of second semester, and didn't prepare us at all for the AP test. Taking 2-3 tests a week is ridiculous and a waste of everyones time. Unless you want to become a doctor or a medical researcher, take AP chem or something, you'd be better off avoiding Mrs. Uji.
Honestly, Uji is the nicest teacher I've ever had in all ten years of my education. She is very energetic and promotes a friendly learning environment. Her Chem H exams are hard, but she is very helpful if you ask questions and she will answer them happily. Favorite teacher on campus
Ms. Uji is the definition of a sweet old lady with a lot of knowledge about biology. Her class is VERY difficult and I found it really helpful early on to set up a couple of appointments with her. I average Bs- Cs on tests and I still have a high A because I make sure I know the material in time for quizzes. Do all of the reading, don't just course notes your way through, and ask for help if your grade is suffering. I found it easy to talk to her after school and she legitimately cares about you
By far the worst teacher I've ever had, and this is saying a lot. The work load is so beyond ridiculous.. at multiple points in the year she assigns three labs at once, along with lab write ups, lab essays, weekly agonizing tests, weekly mind boggling quizzes, and absolutely no teaching whatsoever. She seems nice up front but is the most two faced person I've ever met. Everyone, of course, sucks up to her and acts like shes a sensible person.. Class is ridiculous. Nothing like college.
I have no idea why there are so many hateful reviews for Ms. Uji. The majority of the reason the class is hard is because the material itself is difficult and dense. Some people here don't seem to realize that you have to take learning upon yourself and she can't be expected to teach you. She does an excellent job of preparing everyone for the AP test and college, is so nice, and has amazing lectures when they do happen. She's one of my favorite teachers ever.
To be completely honest, (this is for her AP Biology class), much of the class is self-driven. You read the textbook, you study for tests from the textbook, you type out labs with your lab mates, etc. The few times she lectures (maybe 1-2 times a month) though it's usually pretty clear (she uses these awesome drawings she does herself to visualize concepts) and helpful, but for the most part the class is self-driven.
Outside of that she's an extremely compassionate woman which I respect.
Took AP bio. Failed so bad. Went to college (took the same class again, but in college), passing with flying colors. I don't know if it's because I wasn't "ready" for her class or what, but her class....I don't know. She can't teach. She's a nice person though.
A cheat, who lies about making exams and uses the exam bank. She is such a useless teacher who makes the class do a project for extra credit and then lets a TA decide which 5 students get the extra credit. What a rubbish teacher.
She's pretty helpful, and responds to my questions despite me not being in her Chemistry H class, which is good because my actual teacher usually doesn't know the answers to what I ask/responds sarcastically/isn't willing to respond.
She is the best! Unlike Mr. Bacher, she can actually teach the subject very nicely. She is not crabby like him either; she is always willing to go the extra step to help you. Ms. Uji today showed me how to properly light a match so I don't mess up on the lab final and made me show her that I knew how to do it, unlike Mr. Bacher who would never do this and he NEVER NEVER NEVER replies to emails. Hope for Uji because she's the best (CHEM H at least, idk about her AP bio class.....................)
I love her. The class is exceptionally hard, with a very heavy workload, but she makes the class more than bearable, she makes it fun! I look forward to her class everyday, because she teaches using interesting techniques (BrOCLI FHN :P) and I remember these concepts through understanding and not just rote memorization. Before I had her, I was afraid of taking this class, but she makes it so much fun! Thank you Ms. Uji!
I would say that uji is probably the best chem teacher out of the three there were in the 2012 year. I had her and I found that she was REALLY good at explaining things. Im taking AP chem now and it is a lot harder to follow lectures because the teachers' lectures seem a little more boring. Also the fact that she is very engaging makes it easy for you to stay awake even through he most boring topics. Im glad i had for chem h, and would give her 2 thumbs up. -Sri (12-13)
She is horrible. She probably called ratemyteacher to have the past 2 years of comments deleted. Get the campbell biology testbank she uses it. She lets her TA's give their friends higher scores and she doesnt teach at all claiming college professors dont teach, has this clown heard of lectures? lol where did she get her teaching credentials from?
I love Mrs. Uji! She's the best teacher I have ever had! She's always helped me in times of trouble whether it was for AP bio or just in general. She always knows the best way to encourage you when you feel like you want to give up. Thank you Mrs. Uji for making my AP bio class memorable! :)
One of the worst teachers ever. Pretends to be nice but is extremely mean at heart. Never lectures. Has no subject knowledge. Just teaches you how to read from a book. Extremely inconsiderate in regard to other classes.
Overall, probably the worst teacher I ever had.
if you can't get A's in this class or in demuth's ap chem class...you sir (OR GAL) fail at life. or you were a senior who no longer gives a shet. all you need is a B then bump it up with the good stuff, ap tests yall. hell....just bs those book reports too for 5% extra credit 1st semester too....so basically 75% is needed....curves are ridiculously generous too unless you get those crazy dudes who r going to ivy leagues, stanford, MIT, etc. in ur class...cuz then ya need a lil higher.
The class is not hard to get an A in, especially since she tries their best with extra credit to boost your grade. Most difficulties are from being lazy. The tests are fair.
Since most of our class time was spent doing labs, usually only one day a week was devoted to the actual subject material. However, she used this time well and made useful, colorful diagrams on the whiteboard. Her teaching style is easy to follow and she uses good analogies. She is also very lenient and is a nice woman.
I don't know how a class can be taught with virtually no lectures and tests not given back to the students for a review. This is a self-study class where the tests are exclusively graded by TAs.
She have too many lots of passion, but it not all about any teaching. She is nice and give five extras credits and bumps many one more up grade. I finds college too much good comparings her poor type teaching. Any new teacher more good comparings her.
An excellent and enthusiastic teacher; however, the content she teaches are pretty difficult to be honest
i learned more from my textbook... let me rephrase, i learned EVERYTHING from my textbook, she hardly taught
Her passion for teaching is evident in her enthusiasm, which she manages to somehow convey to her students. I loved learning from her!
i ask her for help more than Mr.Cheung, i love her! i asked mr.cheung about a lab conclusion like what to include and he just said everything. i asked uji and she gave some specifics and clues. i got an A on that lab, not thanks to cheung, but Uji!
Have known her for three years; no joke, she's a kid at heart. Very enthusiastic, very kind. Empathetic, understanding, FUNNY, and genuinely awesome.
Mrs Uji is such a nice teacher! Forgiving too, I am glad to have her, she is very helpful
AP Bio is a lot of reading, but her lectures make up for it. She exudes happiness and enthusiasm when she's lecturing (especially on protists), and like someone mentioned here before, you can't help but get passionate about biology. What an inspiration.
Mrs. Uji did NOT teach the class. She expected us to learn from the textbook and her excuse was "professors in college don't teach you". Well in all of my bio classes in college, they DO stand up there and lecture. I'm thankful that she didn't allow anyone to fail by giving C is as the lowest grade but still, really bad TEACHER and did NOT get up there and teach us the material. She's a nice and caring person but the worst teacher I have had in my life.
I've only had her for 4 weeks, and so far, she's really nice and tolerant. I have her 7th period, and usually, all teachers must be fed up and tired by the end of the day(me), but I'm amazed by her energy and tolerance for the class. I think the work is getting easier because we repeat the same process:chill, reading notes, lab, lab writeup(pain),and occasional all-nighter...not my hardest class, but still pretty annoying cuz you write things over and OVER AGAIN! :( but thats not ms. Uji's fault, she's cool
Shes super cool and is a great person, but shes actually pretty bad at teaching..
Uji, you are an awesome teacher. You inspired me to keep on working even when ap bio got really tough. thank you so much!
The best science teacher i have ever had. The tests are hard though and expect to spend a lot of time on bio. But if you ever have any issues, she will help.
I don't know anyone on campus who doesn't love Uji. With her as a teacher, you can't help but be passionate about science.
By far the best teacher I have ever had. Funny, helpful and easy talk to, she made going to Bio AP fun. Its been a year since I have had the class and I miss that class greatly
Shes a great teacher, but extremely immature. If she has any reason to be mad at you, your grade will suffer... very unfair
As a bio AP student, I can't say that her classes are easy, but Ms.Uji is one of the best teachers I have ever had and I have to say that walking into her class is one of the highlights of my day. Even on Mondays.
Ms. Uji is by far my favorite teacher I have ever had
It is really hard to teach a class that gets twice as much hours at a real university, so people who say that Ms. Uji doesn't teach don't understand that. For the amount of time she has with us, she does a great job in teaching both the material and explaining the labs accurately and effectively. She makes Bio AP fun because she so so funny, so enthusiastic, and very motivating. If you want to do well in her class, she will help you to do so if you ask her. Mrs. Uji is one of the best teachers at Tino.
Out of all the teachers, Uji for the win. She's the few, i believe, that actually care about the well being of students in all aspects.
Ms Uji is a really cool teacher, and fun to talk to. I had originally signed up for regular chemistry, but somehow got thrown into chemistry honors. I was planning to switch classes in the beginning of school, but her class was so much fun the be in that I decided to stay (even if I was doing REAALLY bad in her class).
Really charismatic and nice teacher. Always helpful and makes class fun. I've known her since I was a freshman. The essays are not easy but I enjoy all the labs that we do in class.
to those considering AP Bio-...the class is challenging and work demanding.be prepared to spend about 4-5 hours per weekend reading chapters. Alot of people say that she doesn't really help you but I'd say ms uji's lectures help cover alot of material. I'd recommend going after class or during lunch/tutorial to get extra help because most of the class time is for labs. Overall, amazing teacher, cares alot about what she does. you'll come out of this class with amazing study habits.
She is really nice and friendly. I've known her for my freshmen, sophomore, and right now junior year and the best teacher there is. Makes chem H like it should be helping a little but having more of the work on your own. She really wants to help her students too.
one of the best teachers at cupertino. anyone would be lucky to have her. she makes sure that you understand everything we do in the labs and although the tests are hard you learn a lot. many say that Biology AP is hard and you only learn out of the book. sorry but, DUH. keep in mind that it IS a college course, what do you expect?
Ms. Uji's nice, and like those who have already said, takes the time to talk to her students. I have had her for chem H and bio AP and although the coursework can get heavy, she does lecture (she says this is the first year she lectures in bio AP) and the tests can be downright hard sometimes. Overall, she is a good teacher and a nice person.
We have to do all these pointless chemical writeups, and copy the all the lab procedures (and the safety procedure - seventy billion times.) That said, she's pretty popular with her students.
2 words. busy work. labs = busy work, homework = busywork, we spend so much time clawing though everything i dont learn sqaut
She's funny and everything, but she really doesn't teach too much. She can be somewhat mean sometimes and is reluctant to give out deserving points.
Awesome person, charismatic, and takes time to talk to students, but I wish she'd teach or lecture for ONCE! All we ever do in that class is read, take tests, fail, repeat. We never go over anything!!
shes hard. shes a good teacher though. funny and all taht stuff. the only annoying part is al lthat stuff we have to write for the labs.
So so. She does a good job of explaining the material. If she actually explains in instead of trying to "teach you how to read a textbook." There's also lots and lots of busywork. But she's nice.
Best teacher during my years at CHS, hands down. Helpful like no other - and you will value this, because her classes are challenging! Highly recommend for chem honors.
Uji rocks. It'll be tough to get an A (or even a B) in Bio AP but prepares you for the AP test like no other. Sort of wish she'd lecture in class, but really should read anyway.
sooo nice...^^ great teacher..and she's really hard when it comes to bio AP, which is good ;)
Just an average teacher that's very easygoing.. I don't see what the hype is all about
IF ms uji retired, it ill be a fatal blow to CHS and its students. I had bio ap this year, doesn't teach much.all self studying. if u do everything she says, 5 on AP for sure.
all teachers should be like mrs. uji. she made cupertino high school truly memorable. one of the few teachers that will make me look upon my high school experience fondly.
She is the best teacher I have ever had....she was such a great influence...I love science because of her and I'm going to be a doctor....she helped me get into MIT!!!
the most influential and caring person i have come across at cupertino. besides being a great teacher, she's an amazing person. tutorial and chem h were awesome with her.
Her classes are hard but she tries to do everything possible to make you get a good grade AND understand what she teaches. She gives up her time to help students...fabulous lady!
Mrs. Uji so soo awsome! She teaches excellent, and she really cares. Careful cause it is an honors or AP class. It wont ever be easy, but it's fun. One of the best teachers.
miss uji is a GREATTTTTT person!! she'd super cool! but she just doesnt teach!! but if it wasnt for her.. i'd have like a 17% in bio AP! but thanks to her i hav
ever-funny-calm-effective. Bio AP is hard.. but she can guide you to an A. just work hard and read 10 min a day.
Mrs. Uji is the best teacher at cupertino! She is so helpful and goes out of her way and always makes herself available.
Mrs.Uji is cool. Even tho Bio AP was hard, she was still a fun teacher and alaways caring. You can also tell she really enjoys her work (bio)
awesome. i have her for bio AP. i've taken ISC, chem/physics h (chem h. with uji), physio, and now bio ap with her again. she is AWESOME and understanding!
One of the most caring people I have ever come across. Excellent teacher, takes pride in what she teaches.
she's the best teacher i've ever had. she'll help you out if you're having problems. just try hard and you're bound to do well in there.
OMG, the best teacher ive ever had....EVER!! go uji!!
Her test curves are as great as her personality! and omg she is so enthusiastic about what she is doing! ;]
Average; only way to learn is to read book. no lecture during class
ok she can be a bit weird. she is an excellent teacher though. you learn a lot from her
Mrs. Uji is soooooooooooooooo the cool! Her class was hard but she did all she could to help her students. Go Uji!!
I love mrs. uji!!! she's prolly among the best teachers i've ever had if not THE best. she teaches and explains things soooo well and she made chem honors so fun
she has to be THE best science teacher out of the ones that are currently teaching. she understands her students, makes them laugh, and makes bioAP/chemH FUN.
you can tell she is a caring person. and her test curves are fantastic!! Mrs. Uji, you are great!!!
Do not fall asleep on the first day of school. I speak from personal experience. I was so hungry that day, I actually ate a page from the Flinn manual.
i absolutely adore mrs. uji! fantastic teacher and awesome personality; genuinely cares for her students. kinda like my campus mom :D
Very cool teacher. Easy to work with, nice, willing to work with you to fix problems. Talkative if you know her.
ChemH is easy with Ms. Uji and she KNOWS what she's talking about. She's funny and cool, and the BEST teacher you can have.
THE best science teacher ever! it's lucky to be in her class.
uji is cool teacher to me and my fellow students. knows what she is doing.
one of the best teacher i have ever had, tests were hard but she was fair and taught the material, unlike other teachers. probably one of the best teachers in the school.
chem honor by far the most academically-rewarding science class. Go Uji!!!
I am a college student and majoring in chemistry and this is partly due to having Uji for Chemistry Honors. She is super cool and teaches very well. But the tests can be hard, yet she is fair.
