Art app with cappell is one of those classes, where you think to yourself, why am I here? I honestly learned nothing. But one of the plus sides is that you basically do nothing in class, so you can just chat the whole period away or do homework from another class. Theres basically no homework. The only negative to this class is the tests and finals, in which you will know nothing and fail. She wasn't fair with her grades, considering she taught nothing but expected us to know more.
Had her for acrylic art. She was funny sometimes. Most of the time she just let you do your own thing. It was a pleasant experience. The few times she did teach it was slightly confusing.
Definitely not your best art teacher in Stuyvesant, but hey she's retired now (I think).
I think doctors have better handwriting than her, but just pay attention and you'll be (sorta) fine.

I am a current freshman, and I have to say she isnt that bad of a teacher. She does know what she is talking most of the time, and does reference the textbook. However, she is very, and I mean very boring. Almost the whole class are sleeping or talking to friends because the lesson does not engage well. The exams are hard, As one who actually studied a lot, i received a 78, which was the third highest in the class. The majority got 40-50. Really boring class, I would want to switch out of there
Super easy teacher if you just listen to stuff she says and take notes. Her board notes are sloppy but she does know what she iis talking about. She also curves so it's all good if you end up not doing so well on the final.
Complete dimwit who should've retired 20 years ago. Doesn't teach, have fun with your 20 on the final. Grading is totally ridiculous, she just thinks of a # and gives it to you. A five year old with crayons is a better art teacher than she is. I have no idea why she still has a job.
HORRIBLE! I have her for freshman art and it is just sad that Stuyvesant has teachers like this. She taught NOTHING. the few things that she did tell us, were historically incorrect. The entire class is screwed for the final.
Terrible teacher. Didn't even know her own students, didn't take any care. I probably learned negative information on art from class, very confusing, and her "notes" don't even qualify as readable. Her tests would have been fair if she actually taught the material in them. I feel bad if you get her...
She was absent one day and was able to mark me as cutting on that day when I was in class. Can't keep track of student work.
Really bad. I wish she retires. She doesnt care about you at all. :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
Her notes are very sloppy and very hard to read. Many students ignore them too, and she doesn't seem to notice. Then when the midterm comes...
Completely incompetent. You will not learn anything about art, you will fail the final. You will somehow magically pass art. If you actually want to learn, transfer out asap.
Picks favorites. Unfair grading. I like art, but I hate her class.
Very easy class to ace. If you need a teacher to baby sit you then she isn't the right teacher for you. Her acrylics class was very chill and great. :)
needs to actually care for her area of expertise. needs to stop ignoring her students. puts on that "confused look" too often. should include more trips. can be nice at times(which are too few)
nice but its funny how imcompetent she is. still, nice sweet lady :) her class isn't hard but don't hope to learn too much. i love watching her look confused about everything
shes nice from time to time but when she really want to she is very *
Although not the greatest of teachers, a kind person nonetheless.
nice teacher…but she her tests have like nothing to do with what she teaches in class. No matter how hard you study, its impossible to do well. Her tests r easy to cheat on though.
She's an incompetant teacher. Her teachings are scattered and never focused.
Absolutely awful teacher. Knows nothing about Photoshop yet she teaches Graphic Art. Pompous and annoying.
Her art appreciation class combines studio work with useful lectures--a demanding but rewarding teacher, committed to art and her students.
Kind, enthusiastic, helpful yet doesn't know much about art history. Watercolor was better. Show interest, make an effort + you can do well easily, enjoy the classes a lot, and get a lot of individual attention (if you want).
She's a pretty cool teacher as long as you pay attention and take notes. you don't have to be an artist--just try hard. doesn't use textbook unless you're really bad. answer questions and she loves you. you learn a lot
She's awesome outside of Art Appreciation. She's an art teacher, not art history.
Very bias. doesnt teach- shows videos and makes us read from textbooks during classtime, and her directions are often very vague will find every excuse to lower your grade if she doesnt like you my friend is a perfect example
Take notes and do your current events. You don't need to be an absolute artist to pass the class but study hard for the tests. She gives a pretty decent review before the final.
Cappell's class is incredibly boring, she teaches from textbooks, but stay with her, because nobody else for art appreciation is any better.
artwork must be perfect in order to get 10s.. which is just ridiculous, her arthist lessons are just lectures, she's oblivious to whether we actually understand
shes easy dun do any current events nd dun try nd youll still get good grades
have you realized how her ratings were good at first? then it got worst. hmm....it's interesting. anyways...stay on her good side. that's all i can say.
she cut almost half of her classes. also, she considers it teaching to have us take notes from the boring book. However, i found the tests and projects easy-ish
Cappell can't teach. She is irritating and seems like she has no idea what she's doing.
she gives materials on the test that we never learned, i wonder if she even realizes it?
she makes me wonder how long it'll takew her to realize that she's putting us all to sleep! She's practically singing us a lullaby!!!
Her Computer Graphics Design class was so easy. We had a student teacher, and she was much more helpful. Just do something that satisfies what she wants.
unclear assignments with random grades and not suggestions for improvement
