I had AP environmental science with her. she's a harsh grader and a strict teacher but you'll learn a lot if you pay attention and try everything. Don't slack off on the Unit 6 test. She does not normally round up Q1 nor does she give extra credit usually.
I had Mrs. Lawless for freshmen biology. She taught us tons of information. She treats most students the same and she has no mercy when she is grading. If you do anything slightly wrong it's wrong. She is a very experienced teacher and is very organized. She understands how to set up a classroom so that her students will learn. Overall she is great teacher, but lacks personality to motivate her students.
She is very energetic about what she teaches and is very clear about all the information we need to know. She explains everything well. As long as you keep up with the class work the tests are fairly easy but she does grade labs harshly.
Mrs. Lawless is an amazing teacher as long as you stay on her good side. Lots of work gets put into her bio class, but as long as you complete the assignments, you will be fine! Very scary impression Lawless has at first.
had her for bio and i thought she was fine but with apes its a completely different story. She is strict about ridiculous things such as using the bathroom and she does not round up or curve ANY of her tests even if there is a 70 average. Doesn't teach, instead shows 2 hour videos which are pointless. One of the meanest teachers at CCA in my opinion
She's very strict and has expectations. I'm in her APES class right now. I like her but I wish that she would not play so many videos. They're all very pointless. If she would spend that time actually teaching the material to us, there would be a much higher average.
Mrs lawless is a very smart and skilled teacher! she dosent take any s**t and she is honest but not mean! she has an amazing amount of knowledge and experience with biology and if you are into bio you will love her! people think she's scary but I was able to connect with her on many things and I loved having her as a teacher! she's a great contribution to CCA and I hope I have her into the future!
Mrs. Lawless is a great teacher- the best at CCA. I had her for freshman biology. The best way to get an A in her class is to study for the quizzes and work hard on the labs. The is VERY fast at entering her grades which is a plus. But on the other hand she if very strict. NO EXTRA CREDIT. She is a marine biologist so she knows somewhat what she is taking about. Here are two main tips... PAY ATTENTION, and STUDY.
She's Strict and expects you to listen all times, her tests are easy but her quizzes depend whether or not you go over the notes after class. Easy 'A', if you put in the work
Pretty good at teaching the material at hand, but the course material was easy to begin with.
Sometimes went off tangents about her personal life that no one really cares about.
Strict in the wrong ways though... did not appreciate her ridiculing other students either (ie when she was talking about a time she shredded a kid's lab report, she said his moping was "hilarious").
Basically, the class was easy to learn in but the environment she set was unsettling.
Lawless has no idea how to assign homework she either gives nothing to prepare for the test or gives you a solid hour and a half homework load. Plays too many videos in class and never explains anything in depth. I had to go in every week to get help and she would just say try your best.
I had her for bio and it was by far the easiest class of the semester, if you were productive you wouldn't even have homework half the week, you do all the labs in class, and the tests are pretty much self explanatory. Only things you should study for are mastery quizzes, if u do well on those the rest is easy.
Awesome! Learned so much! I've learned more in this class then my other classes combined. She is strict, expects you to be on time and prepared, if you do that she's cool. She emails you back really quick. Super helpful.
Mrs. Lawless is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Her class isn't too hard at all, she definitely knows her stuff about science, and she's really fun. Just make sure you don't ever saying anything rude to her or be late to class.
My brother had her for biology and loved her. I am hoping to get her this year.
Worst teacher I had her for college prep physics and her class was harder than AP physics She doesn't teach She just reads power points she stole from other teachers then she tests you on stuff she didn't teach. She made me not want to get up every morning. The day that class ended was one of the best days of the year despite having a final. I had a 0 period class before that that would cause me to sometimes be late yet she still wouldn't excuse my tardies. She made me HATE physics
I had her for biology, so happy to have her again for physics. She's one of the best.
Should never teach physics. Our class might as well be online as she shows YouTube videos for every lesson from a guy in New York. Homework all cribbed by her from a web site.
All she does is show videos. I don't even think she knows what she's doing. Why is she getting paid? Why don't we just pay the video people to teach us?
don't be late...you'll get on her bad side. kids who rate her poorly just don't do their work...you can't get away with anything in her class
She's pretty cool, kinda strict. I only had her the 2nd quarter, and first quarter Mr. C (best sub EVER) subbed for her. She was kinda aloof since she just had a baby, but I've heard she was good b4.
AMAZING science teacher, funny, nice, and loved her subject. You really learned the material.
Super organized, you learn a lot...everyday we do something...class goes by fast with no down time.
Really good teacher, but when I had her she left partway through the school year due to "health issues" (she was actually pregnant). She's a no-nonsense person, and doesn't waste much tine.
She's a strict and very hard teacher. But it's a GREAT class. You'll learn a lot, I just took my star and I knew more from her class that I took last year than I did for my current class.
She is so organized I didn't have to worry about anything. Great class.
She was a pretty good teacher. she taught us alot and was good at helping you out if you were confused. it was hard becuase she left for half of the quarter. so i got pretty lost towards the end
i just finished her class.and shes a really good teacher but she left like a little later than half of the year.she juss like left without sayin anythin and we had a sub for the rest of the year
Mrs. Lawless is like the most amazing teacher ever. I learned sooo much in her class. And yay we won spirit! She is awesome and funny and a great teacher.
she may be strict and speak really fast, but in the end you learn A LOT in this class. you just have to really concentrate and do all the work.
Cool class if you are on top of things. Easy to get behind but that is the 4x4.
great teacher but tests are to hard and gives WAY to much homework
She's nice and fair on tests and quizzes, and you can get her off topic sometimes and spend the whole class discussing things like scuba diving!
awesome person and awesome teacher and all around fun to be in her class and you will learn a lot!
alot of people dont like her, if you get on her bad side, she can be a pain, but if she likes your life is a whole lot easier
Mrs. Dement is fine! Her quizes are fair, and her tests not bad. All you have to do is study! If you don't, then you'll get a bad grade. It's that simple. She's nice!
tests are hard and kinda unfair. but i'm just bad at science.
Her quizzes and tests are straight foward, all you gotta do is study that packet... When she goes over the notes it is good and it makes sense but I'm in Bio...so that may be...
Bad teacher, expects you to learn it extrememly fast and the quizzes that come after new material, affect you a lot if you do bad which isn't fair beacuse it's new information!
