I dont think I've ever had a teacher who cared more, who made me work harder. He's not what I would call easy, but he is transformative, like I think top college teachers would be.
Wow. So Abreu retired. I was his student back in the 1980s. He was the best teacher, and inspired me to keep studying history. He must be in his sixties now, but back then was a young dude whom all the kids loved. Looks he remained loved for decades more. I feel old! I also feel grateful to have had a great, influential teacher like him. Enjoy retirement, Abreu! You've earned it.
It's too bad he retired but he was the best history teacher ever. He didn't sugarcoat anything, and he had a huge passion for teaching. I learned alot in his class
I'm just automatically giving all five stars. This man KNEW his subject and taught it with a passion unparalleled. It's a shame he retired because I wish he taught all of my history classes.
The best teacher ever the most fun. I learned more failing his class than getting an A in another.
I'm so glad to see he is still teaching. I had him back in the day and by the measures parents look at (and I am one now), I turned out pretty well. Ivy grad. school, full scholarship to a good college. If you read this, Mr. A, I am so grateful!
Hands down best history teacher... Made class fun in a way that you learn a lot and retain it... Class requires lots of studying but is worth it
Had Abreu for APUSH and he is hands down THE BEST history teacher i've ever had. The man knows his history. He doesn't give homework except for just studying for chapter quizzes, so in that sense, it's a pretty easy class BUT his big mamas are suicidal. He is so chill and fun but strict when it comes to grading essays so make sure you know how to write. Overall you'll have a blast in that class.
If you have him for AP Euro OMG!!!! greatest class ever!!!!
i had him in my junior year and it was fun .... kinda. i got a C and a B but i don't really do hw so that explains why, which he enjoyed pointing out by the end of the year :)
BEST TEACHER YOU WILL MEET AT VAN NUYS. NUFF SAID,
Definitely a wonderful teacher to have. Just a little hard/unreasonable at times when it comes to tests. But definitely a good teacher (:
He is a clique kind of teacher who can be alright at times, down right annoying sometimes, or just have little tantrums in class. He is a box of three chocolates. His class was alright.
Mr. Abreu is an outgoing teacher. THATS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!
Even though, he gave us a lot of homework, he knows how to teach and he definitely knows his history.
Mr abrue is cool. Unfortunatly i havent really done the work ^_^...but he loves history! he is funny and should be a standup comedian! he teaches well! and is fun! -timex
i took abreu for u.s. history back in jr year and just wanted to say.... best teacher and what an awesome guy! c/o 04!!!
Abreu actually made learning history fun. He is very easy-going but at the same time he is serious about his students learning the material. You will do well in the class if you do the reading and ace his Grande Madres.
Not easy, but very interesting lectures and readings. One of my best experiences in high school, and probably why I became a historian! Hands down the coolest teacher you'll ever have in high school.
Interesting lectures. Has fun teaching. Exams based on book. Enjoy!
While I suspect the spiral bound notebook that serves as his 'teacher's guide" is actually his own 12th grade history notebook, this guy is cool. Don't tell him
he's easy going and fun, but he gets down to business. class is great with him.
