Best teacher I ever had at Pine Crest and the reason I became an English major.
I had Mrs. Birr for AP English Literature during my senior year at Pine Crest. She was without doubt the best English teacher I have ever had. Mrs. Birr had a passion for teaching which made learning enjoyable. She encouraged her students to find their own voice in their writing and never refused to help with suggestions and/or edits. She also cared deeply about her students inside and outside of the classroom. I only wish that all teachers had these amazing qualities. Thank you Mrs. Birr.
Not a very good teacher. For someone who should be preparing us for an AP exam, she does not seem knowledgable on the topic she's been teaching for 30 years. We either have no work or simply busy work. No tests which is nice for the students but we literally learn nothing and have to deal with her easily changing attitude. She doesn't even look at our 3 page papers, she just puts a sign on the top.
Its an easy class, but she does not teach at all... She just talks and goes of on tangents, and occasionally does an ap test ... such a waste of time.
She's an EXCELLENT English teacher. She loves what she does and she gets you to love it as well. She inspired me to pursue English as a major in college.
Thanks for entering me in the Shakespeare competition in 1984, Mrs. Birr. It changed my life. I'm now a teacher in part because of you! Love ya'! - J. McNab
