Ms. Ubieta is the best Spanish Teacher in the department. She is so knowledgeable and probably knows the most about the language and literature than any other Spanish teacher at Stuy. She is also very good at explaining the language and is able to put grammar into terms you can comprehend as an English speaker, a very rare skill among language teachers. Yes, while she is super busy and absent a lot, she is a great teacher when she is hear and leads stimulating discussions and fun classes.
She is always late to class, does not teach and only gives us work to stay busy. She is always talking about her sons and how great they are. A question I have is, why is Mr. Bravo always in the classroom?
lazy, dispassionate, insensitive - showed up late to class more often than the rest of us combined. a really unpleasant, superficial person and an even worse teacher
grades essays very harshly, has favorites
still really funny and if you like Spanish you'll love the class.
She makes me wonder every day why I didn't take conversational Spanish instead of AP Spanish. She grades so harshly on essays. Unless you write really good essays, don't take AP Spanish because you will most likely get her.
makes me regret taking AP Spanish. unreasonable grading system as you only get like 3-4 essays so if you do badly on one essay then ur screwed. I honestly came into the class from 3rd year spanish knowing MORE spanish than I did while in her class. At least she tries to teach...
Be prepared to fail AP Spanish test if you have her. 99 regents average, now 80 AP average. Only way to do good-write professional essays.
Hardly ever there. Harsh grader. Can be funny at times, but she's quite intimidating. Not helpful at all to students who are struggling. If you have her for AP and you're reading this, get ready for h
Plays favorites, always late, picks on people she does not like.
always late, absent, rude, and does not really cover the material. She rushes everything. Im confused half the time
I told her I was having a hard time in Sp, tried to change to Manda, and so she called me a pest.
Always late to class. However, she is very motherly.
I actually think that she is a great person. I asked her if she could help change my program for Spanish, and she moved me from FS1 (Level 1) to FS5.
i love this woman. best spanish teacher i've had so far.
Dedicated to the textbook & grammar worksheets, lacking in creativity and originality. Leaves the the class unattended to take care of administrative duties. Absent quite often. You'll do well on exams.
awesome teacher, very fair. a lot of textbook work, but you'll do well on finals and regents, etc
For AP Spanish her approach is pretty good. She is good at teaching comprehension and is a fun teacher/person but relies too much on book exercises (Repaso) to teach grammer
doesn't give a hoot about FS5, only her AP spanish class. watch out for those tests--she takes a lotta points off everything!!
I love ms. ubieta, she gives very hard tests but lets you dance and sing on fridays and is very kind and relaxed in the classroom.
Overrated. Extremely easy. She's the reason I didn't take ap spanish. Just couldn't stand her. Nice though. Only friendly to certain students.
