I was in gold in sixth grade and it was the best class I had ever been in. My friends and I practically killed some people in the hallways running to get to it. Now that we're in symphonic he's a lot harder on students, but it's still super fun and I think he picks out the best music. I love his sense of humor and I really don't mind his lectures that much because they're usually pretty interesting (usually). He's given me lots of advice on various things and I really look up to him a lot.

I had Mr. Athayde all 3 years at Stanley. He's a great teacher, and pretty funny too. He does tend to rage at misbehaving students, but rarely notices people messing around in the middle row, where the saxophones sit. Sometimes, he'll get on his piano and make up a song about someone that's being disruptive, which is pretty awesome. While other band teachers settle for mediocre playing, Mr. Athayde tries to get it perfect. He's one of my favorite teachers at Stanley, and I'm going to miss him.

Mr. Athayde talks a lot but what he has to say is always very helpful. I learned the most I've ever learned from a teacher before, and he is a music teacher so that's saying a lot! I enjoyed being in his classes (green, gold, symphonic) and always looked forward to them.

He really has an energetic personality and obviously loves jazz and music itself. however, I only did regular band just for jazz band. Jazz is like normal band but without all the stupid stuff.
