Ms. Oquendo teaches insanely quickly. Like, you'll probably go through 5 topics a day rushed through, and have no idea what's going on. The only reason some people even do well in her class, is due to a Facebook group where people post pictures of the tests and send it to the group. The class is really a joke, GL with it lol.
easy tests, but hard to understand
If you get Oquendo, hope to get on her good side. In tests, the most annoying thing she will do is count down and remind you of the time you have left. Like 19 minutes and 42 seconds and then a few seconds later 18 minuets 58 seconds.. annoying
You better hope that you oquendon't get her as a teacher
tbh how does one oquendont?
She talks WAAAAAAAAAY too fast. She should notice she's going too fast when there are 10 hands up every other minute asking her to repeat everything.
She teaches you everything straight from the regents, and as long as you participate and smile a lot she will love you. All of her tests are old regents questions, so keep them for studying. She loved me, and I thought she was crazy on the first day of class. Can seem intimidating, but I would love to have her again this year.
At first, Mrs. Oquendo's teaching style may seem hard to follow, but as the year moves along you will realize that she is an amazing teacher who gives you a lot of knowledge. She talks about biology more in depth that the state requires and prepares you really well for the regents. Her test questions mostly come from old regents exams and usually involve a lot of writing. Pay attention in her class and try to get on her good side. Smile and participate a lot(this coming from one of her favorites)
I used to think this teacher was a terrible teacher, but now I actually think she's alright/good.
She is a nice teacher but she goes WAY TO FAST.
-talks too fast
-assumes we understand things when everyone is failing
-expects too much from us
-gives too much hw
-doesn't have a tutoring schedule
-marks people late
*WE'RE ON OUR OWN
I DONT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING SHE TALKS TO FAST SHE HAS TO SLOW THE BLEEP DOWN
Word teacher ever
She gave us credit for scantron mistakes. I got a 90 on the exam.. I studied the notes from the slides and homework.
to this day i still doubt that she knows anything about biology. on one test she clearly messed up a couple of questions yet refused to admit she was wrong and a lot of people ended getting bad grades. she also sucks as a dean
Bio was a really easy class because I knew most of the material from advanced Science in middle school but she was bad at teaching the material and could be really annoying. I got a 96 on the regents but the general consensus in the class was she couldn't teach. You could barely understand what she said at times too. her test grading never made sense either and she owed me a point on my final grade and never had my transcript fixed at all. (86/87). Very unfair participation grades. Do your labs!
she is a really confusing woman and her class is really hard to understand, sometimes. she gives out packets of slideshows she put together and in class we just discuss it. the entire year she gave one set of notes that actually made sense. i messed up most of her tests (but i didnt fail) but magically, in the end, i passed the regents with masteries level.
the school year with her is tough but you'll ace the regents if you work hard with her
Great Bio Teacher. I learned so much by the end of the year. You wont regret having her.
Pretty good teacher. She cracks jokes that aren't always funny but the way she says them makes it more amusing. Her teaching was very hard to follow at the beginning and middle of the year, but by the end I realized that I was very well prepared for the regents.
Had her freshman year. Very hard teacher. Hard tests and very strict. If you study, pay attention and participate, you will pass. Got 92 on regents with very little studying. I think she's a dean this year, and is probably a very strict one too. I doubt she was ever absent when I had her. Oh yeah, watch out for her Minus-2's. I never got one but they will hurt your grade.
Ms. Oquendo-Orna may seem like a strict teacher with no personality at the beginning of the year, but she becomes more fun later on. She's still pretty strict and divides the class up into groups based on your level. Also, she has lunch duty when I have lunch. She's very picky about the work but she's really nice and lets you re-do it. I wish she'd let us re-take tests because they're really hard.
Honestly, I Did Good On All Of Her Tests and such. But Her Minus twos were very annoying. Expecially since later they got bumped up to minus 6 and Minus 8. Which Really messed up my grades. Dont do the mistake of socializing in her class, and itll be fine. Her tests are easy, and i got a 99 on the Bio Regents because of her.
shes the coolest teacher in tech, her tests were alright, but as teacher, she rocks! Although she gives hw everyday, but its rewarding in the regents! I got a 96 in the bio regents without studying. just watch out with her "MINUS 2" lol love her.
If you have her consider yourself lucky. She gives a lot of notes but it'll be worth it. Try not to socialize in her class. She's gonna take off a lot of points. She's cool and her jokes are just...LOL
shes a good teacher and if you do the work its not hard at all just dont talk too much in class
Easy lab teacher. Nice person even outside of school work. Gives everything needed for the regents. Great teacher :).
She's strict at first and is hard to understand how she teaches but once you get used to her she isnt very bad teacher
She is the coolest teacher. She likes to have fun! :) She's really strict in the beginning, but once you get to know her, she becomes more and more nicer. But beware of her minus 5 ,10s!
I currently have oquendo and shes really a challenging teacher! shes also very fun to talk to :)
Study your notes and pay attention. She helps if you ask questions.
Got 98 on bio regents, 85 in class. Just do your homework on time, take notes conscientiously, and try not to fall asleep (she has a monotone voice, haha). Nice lady and can make some funny jokes from time to time. -V
shes a really nice teacher... but her tests are HARD... unless u pay attention carefully and believe me... u WILL need to copy all of her notes down to pass her tests
ahe is a very nice teacher that pushed her students to reach their fullest potential
She is very nice. She also cares about her students. :D
Ms. Oquendo is a superb teacher. I had her for Freshmen year, aced my Regents just like that. Her tests are all based on the notes she gives us, and our homework. Her tests might be quite hard, though as long as you do your part in studying, everything will be fine. With her, you will be very well prepped for the regents test. She's also very easy to get along with. Don't get on her bad side though. If you talk constantly she will deduct lots of points.
Nice teacher. Do your homework and copy down all your notes and you'll be fine.
she dnt know how 2 explain but if u take note ull understand kinda strict though
her class is hard (lots of note taking) but she's a good teacher, i guess.
She's okay, she gave us a lot of notes that are very important. Her tests are not that hard as long as you study and understand the concept. If you don't know anything, she will try to help you.
She was a really good teacher. She may be strict in the beginning of the year, but towards the end, not so much.
She is very strict, but her class is very nteresting and helpful. I got a 99 for almost every marking period, but then she gave me a 94 even though my work was the same lever as previously.
she may seen stict, and yeah her class seems harder then that of other bio teachers but many teachers brag about how her class averages of regents scores are higher than any other teachers for several years already so it pays of i guess =] she is very helpful and nice, besides, thanks to her i actually get science for the first time since like 1st grade. She actually knows how to teach unlike a few of my teachers
pretty good teacher =] got a 99 then 95 in the class. paid attention mostly and just read the book. freshie bio's pretty easy compared to what you'll deal with later. She's a good teacher =]
The overall class is pretty boring and strict. There are a lot of notes but it really pays out. Do good on tests and participate once in a while and you would ace both her class and the regents.
she can be a little boring but she gives lots of info. shes nice if u listen n she TRIES to make things funny which is good.
as long as you pay attention its all good. yes it is definitely boring often, but ITS BIO. and occasionally there WILL be some things interesting to hear.. either way, she's a good teacher overall. =)
she actually knows what she is talking about but sometimes she gives us too much info which is acutally helpfull because u learn more than you need to know which makes teh regents soo much easier.
you just take notes and sit there...boring actually i study alot but dont do well on her tests
she is a nice teacher. she let ppl have another day to finsh a project. she wants u to work hard and pass.
you can't just sit in the classroom and not participate. i do all my work and participated and got into the high 90s.
her class is easy to pass if you study the notes and do all homeworks
Ms. oquendo was a really good teacher, I miss her class, I miss Lab, oh woe is me if only my chem class went as fast as ms. oquendo's bio class.
i wish we were allowed to go to the bathroom more =/
Generally she has great teaching techniques and stands nothing else but for yu to work and do yur best...as long as yu do her hw and particaipate and do good on test yu will pass....alot of work but really cool teacher and that likes to joke around once in a while
i think she is a fantastic teacher. she has a teaching method in which you either excell greatly or fail horribly.
i dunno bout you guys but i think Mrs. Oquendo is cool. She CAN teach. shes very serious though..just participate alot and you'll do fine in her class. I started out great (95) but then dropped to a 92 because i got lazy ;D thats all i can say. great bio teacher. you'll be lucky to have her.
If I could give her negatives for her helpfullness and clarity I would. "No questions" is her favorite sentence. I dont understand anything she says, but other than dat I do mad good in her class.
she's really tough, n you really have to pay attention, but she likes me, so im happy
Like one person no personality jsut business with her and like another person said chill with the notes lady and thats rite dude shes such a bad teacher just gives pages pages of notes to cpoy down and then to study them to take tests. Lotta worksheets 2.
nice lady..but she messes up my lab experiment!! got fingerprints on my slides lol..
shes such a great teacher, she teaches slow like u r in kindergarten which is good i guess. no personality. " I guess Taylor is gettin tailored! haha!"
easy tests, easy hws and tons of notes. she'll hand back a lab if you get ONE thing wrong. no real personality, just straight to business.
nice but hard test which dont always seem to be what the lesson was on bacchi is better so dont hate
homework is easy but she never ever tells you wut to study for for the test so just study everything
she doesnt teach all she does is giv notes so b ready 2 write.shes real strict&she gives wierd hws dat r jus like 1or2 qs. did i mention dat shes really strict
she knws whats shes teaching and u could learn alot from her..
i hated her at first, but now shes like mad cool. she gives notes, but not too much. i have trouble passing and shes still nice to me, so its cool.
Really good bio teacher and i enjoy her classes. The homework isn't that bad and the test should be easy if u go over the notes.
i dropped ten points but i deserved it.....she is really fair and strict!!!
she goes through lessons really fast and her tests aren't hard but it always have a lot of pressure.....not a lot of hw but the hws are hard
well, shes a good bio teacher, but i failed on 2 of her exams already T_T
she is the best teacher for bio but she doesnt put kids in honors i hate that
good teacher...got a 95 on the bio regents thanks to her and Ms. Alexander
