Class with him is super easy. He literally gives you problems that will be on the exam on his study guides. The tests are easier than the homework. The only downside to his class is that he speaks at an extremely slow pace.
You might be able to last longer in the gym than me, but I can last longer in bed. Also I can out deadlift and squat you. You could probably beat me in bench but it's all good. Oh I forgot about racquetball as well. Yeah you could beat me in that too probably.
His homework is very straightforward and easy to understand. He essentially emulates the style of teaching at Khan Academy. His tests usually don't have curveballs. He also gives really obvious hints before each exam. Pre-calculus was extremely easy with him, Calc was mediumish difficulty. Just be sure to watch the videos or you'll get left behind in the dust. Alternatively, you can ask him questions and he'll generally clear away your troubles. Plus, he's upbeat and nice. Def a great teacher.
He is really strict. His class is really hard to pass. I got a bad grade in his class, but I know I can't blame him because I barely did my homework. If you are good at Math, he will like you. He is good at teaching/
Best math teacher I ever had. I was only able to pass the AP exam because of him
Kind of boring as a guy. He moves too slowly for my taste. I constantly zone out only to find out he hasn't even started to explain a problem. He knows what he's doing, but he puts me to sleep. At least he's nice.
VERY GOOD MATH TEACHER! he is a very knowledgeable man! you will leave this class knowing a lot! he also have a lot of patience if you do not understand something.
Best math teacher I've ever had. He is very good at trying to make the class enjoyable.
I don't get how people think Hawkes is a bad teacher. Maybe it's because I'm already good at math, but I didn't do half my homework and was able to pull off A's in his classes. And that's not because his class easy but because I didn't feel the need to do homework since I understood the concepts just by listening to his lectures. He's also really nice and lenient. Great guy. 12x racquetball champion. Iron Man. Nuff said.
He's the best teacher ever! He has a world record! and he explains things so well and he's very fair on tests and makes sure you understand what you are learning. He's the best math teacher I have ever gotten.
He drags everything on, and focuses on the little tiny things instead of the big puicture. After the AP Calc test he made us do a lot of projects that would help him, but had nothing to do with Calc.
World champ and Guinness World Record holder. Does magic tricks and is one of the better calculus teachers at Edison
My role model. Super excited to be a teacher and help out whenever he can. Also extremely modest for being a world champion and being in the record books.
He doesn't explain anything...His notes are useless and his homework assignments are way too much. His memory thing is not interesting and neither is anything he's taught.
Great guy, kind of confusing teacher. But I think he does a pretty good job overall. The memory tricks are interesting.
I had him for AP Calc and think he was one of the most helpful teachers I've ever had. Always seemed like he was staying after school to help people, etc.
I'dve given him a higher rating if he were a good teacher, other than that, he's a nice guy
Hawkes is awesome. He does magic tricks, he's nice, and he clears things up whenever there's confusion.
Mr. Hawkes is an okay teacher, he is nice but he doesn't really teach that well I haven't learned anything new that I can't do well yet.
MR. hawkes is an amazing teacher. He is the best teacher I had in High School. I hated math until I had him for a teacher.
he cannot teach. i do better in class, now that i sleep in class instead of pay attention
Mr. Hawkes is a really good Math teacher - in Precalc Honors I remembered he didn't spend that much time lecturing, but I still learned the same materials. His class was enjoyable.
mr hawkes is NOT a bad teacher! hes the best teacher i've ever had in high school and the nicest. anyone who gets him for math is LUCKY.
i had him for algebra and i thought it was easy. he will help you if you go in. but i heard for pre calc he is horrible.he doesnt know how to teach.hes cool tho
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. CANT TEACH MATH IF HIS LIFE DEPENDED ON IT AND IS VERY UNFAIR
He often shares with us stories about his children. He's good at explaining stuff and making things clear.
