Ahh Mrs. Sykes, the teacher that teaches classes she shouldn't really be teaching all together. She has been here for ages and keeps telling everyone she is gonna retire, but yet alas, she is back teaching Biology this year. When is she officially gonna actually leave and retire like she's been saying she will? She can't even teach Chemistry and yet she taught AP Chemistry here, can y'all believe that? I wonder why she said she was retiring last year and then came back this year, interesting.
I took Sykes for AP Chem (got a 2/5) and had reg Chem with her. Worst mistake of my life. She is unprofessional and does not teach - is very disorganized and wore a stripper Halloween costume BUT is like 50 years old. She was horrifying. She did all right with Science Club (I was a member for 4 years of high school). Don't take Sykes if you want to learn.
Spends first few minutes of class bragging or just not here. Hella gg hard. Understanding of her students. Knows everything about everyone. Works hard to improve class and make sure students understand material. Keeps saying she will retire.
My child complained to me continuously about hating this class. He said the teacher was extremely useless and he learned nothing about chemistry. The teacher was not in the class half the time and the
Mrs. Sykes has an... interesting personality to say the least. She will go off on random tangents, and won't do that great of a job actually explaining chemistry. But the work that she does to improve
she's ok. not the greatest teacher but is fun to talk to! has a good personality!
Mrs.Sykes is an okay Chemistry teacher. She tries her best to teach Chem! She is in room P-9. She is also the R-E-C-Y-L-E club Advisor.
Students please do your part and R-E-Y-C-L-E! Sykes doesn't teach.
When she actually does teach (rarely), she teaches well.
HOW DARE YE SPREAD THIS RIDICULOUS SHEEPDIP????!!!! Mrs. Sykes rocks!
Oh holy mud what are you saying you can't be serious...
What in the biohazardous material is this? She rocks!
Had her for HChem, got an A , no joke. Maybe I'm just good at science:)Well, just do the hw and make sure you UNDESTAND what you're learning, if not ask her or look in the text. need a tutor email me
Very hard class, not a good teacher, does not teach material well. Do not take unless you are good at chemistry or have a tutor.
Yay! She sooo can teach. Sykes knows how to teach. She just gets that she does teach!!! Interesting teacher!!!
Boo! She sooo can't teach. Sykes doesn't know how to teach. She just does not get thatshe doesn't teach!!! Boring teacher!!!
Who dare write such a good review for such A horrible teacher!!!! SHE JUST CANNOT TEACH!!!
I suggest getting/Hoping for Liu. She also teaches Chem and is waaay better!
Doesn't teach Chemistry at all!! (If your in need of a good Chemistry Teacher Liu is the one to hope for because she's better and ACTUALLY TEACHES CHEMISTRY!!)
She is NOT MEAN by ANY stretch of the imagination!!!!!!!!
Ms.SYKES's is VERY MEAN! She was talking to our sub for Mr.Haggans and she caught a person on a cell phone during class and she was MAD IN A LOUD VOICE!!!!!>:
Chem honors is the best science class since bio honors with Mrs. John!
A very good teacher, and extra-enthusiastic. Highlights: Mole Day, Book Project, "Candium" lab...
Mrs. Sykes will make chem fun for you, and if not, you can get a free money-back guarantee.
I really don't get why everyone hates her so much, she's a very good teacher.
If you get another chem teacher at AHS, you will be sorry. Sykes rules the roost! (Or, more accurately, the Eagles' Nest...)
Projects are actually fun, she has so many little chemistry toys and also a pet millipede. Slight difficulty curve, but super-mucho helpful if you need her to be.
Sadly she is unclear half the time - but I love how she constantly keeps us off topic (yes, I actually like going off topic). P.S. I took Honors Chem and got an A both semesters.
She's a good teacher--she gives her lectures, etc.--but I'm pretty sure no one understands the concepts until looking through the book. She lectures, the students listen; it's a boring class sometimes
I think she means well...but...the hw she gives out will take FOREVER if you don't know how to do it, and if u don't know how 2, u basically fail the test...
Never teachers, always talks about stories of her son, or about Berkley. She emphasizes the word "honors" and failes to understand that honors kids need help as well! Makes people feel really stupid.
she's a great person but she doesnt teach...50% on final
Doesn't teach, expects you to already know. Tests are harder, never returns graded work. Not organized. Tells stories about her son. Wastes class time. AVOID!
well this year she actually doesn't seem to b sucha bad teacher... at least she's giving us lectures like almost everyday but its true that she does expects u to ask fer help if u dun understand
She's better in AP then honors chem but she needs to go more in depth. But she expects you to ask the questions in order for a lecture. She's picking up and becoming more organized
Most thing she teaches (which isnt much) doesnt appear on her tests. Cant believe I survived her class last year. Only good thing was there wasnt much hw, but the tests were hard
Ovorly strict on unessential information that does not represent understanding. Tests are very unfair to the students. She does not seem to care. Not your friend and not good.
If there's one reason why American High school isn't good enough its because of Sykes. Let me say this, she does not teach and she does not try to. It not because she's hard.
Wow. Maybe if we actually had tests which included stuff we did in class...maybe I would have a better grade.
All she do in class is yak about her family. What's worst is her webassigns...i hate those freaking things. It's a waste of time, people can cheat and it doesn't really help.
ok... she is hard... but if you dont understand you can always go in and ask her at lunch or after school. if you think she's hard dont go to college! its worse
she's a nice person, but she never teaches us anything that appears on the tests?
Mrs. Sykes is great. If you want to learn, you will. Just because she goes off topic doesn't mean she doesn't teach.
She is a very enthusiastic teacher that not only teaches the subject, but makes connections with it in real life. Do your hmwk, and wkshts, and u'll be fine.
