Mr Krolik, hands down- the best teacher in high school. His passion for the physical sciences has help mold my view of a holistic universe. He explained didactically, and extensively, Shrodingers Eq., The Heisenberg Principle, Maxwell's Equations, and Faradays Laws. He held a standard that has been second to "naught" throughout my experiences. His influence has allowed me perspective to contemplate analytically, the duel nature of space/time, quantum/classical physics, and wave/ partial theory.
I took Physics and Advanced Physics with Mr. Krolik in 1974-75 and 1975-76. He was probably the best teacher I ever had. Constantly energized. Constantly pushing us to learn and understand. Memories of Tycho Brae and "For a Dinkelacher". I never heard of the suspension and his leaving Centereach, but not surprised he might run up against the rule-makers. So sorry to hear he passed away in 2014. Graduated in 1981 with a BS in Physics. Thanks C-squared.
I passed the physics regents! I loved his class. With all the stories and demonstrations and debates, who knew I was learning. Best teacher I ever had.
Had Mr.Krolik for Physics in my senior year (almost 20 years ago). Another great science teacher at CHS. I quote him often in the science classes that I now teach. Totally brilliant guy. Class was difficult but made Physics in college a breeze. Probably had like a 60 test average on class exams in his class but i got a 94 on the Regents because of him. Thank you Mr.Krolik.
I was Mr. Krolik's student in 1983 and 1984; yes 2 years of high school physics! I tell my children stories about what it was like to learn physics from a passionate, capable teacher, one who could explain the concepts and hold each student accountable. It is sad to hear that a suspension ended his career years later. Earning Dinkel Ackers and Lorna Doones are ever embedded in my memory.
I did my best (being only an ex-student at the time) when he was being suspended. Even though he and I did not agree on a lot, he was the most dedicated teacher I ever had.
Did not understand the method behind the madness at the time but I get it now. Quote him often. If you are leery of the theory, let's commence with the experiments! Class was hard but regents was
I was one of CCK's last students at Centereach and nearly got myself expelled attempting to have Krolik reinstated after a bogus suspension. I miss him, Physics, problem sets, the works.
I had Carl Krolik in 1979. A day rarely goes by that I don't think of this man. He was the greatest teacher I ever had. I'm sure he doesn't even remember me but I'll never forget him. Legendary wit.
