Personally, I believe the majority of her students just didnt understand her. Whenever she did test topics, she would talk in a soft voice purposely to make sure that people were paying attention; that right there is the mark of a good teacher. If the students in her class would actually calm down and not take advantage of the fact that she had a soft voice, you could certainly have been successful in her class and learn trig in 9th grade.
Mrs. Carrillo is Japanese for all you confused people out there. And she is actually a pretty good teacher, and her homework is not difficult if you pay attention. Her Geometry Honors class is not that hard, and often the drop-outs are the people who talked the most. Her Alg/Trig Honors class is not difficult as long as you actually put some effort. Remember, these are HONORS courses. and she's retiring so this review is completely pointless.
She is a great teacher, but she has a good list and a bad list. (she actually has a list up on her wall of people who break rules.) You need to be on top of things with her, and NOT TALK. She is one of my very favorite teachers. Though she has a stinging sense of humor... she tells it like it is.. PERIOD 1 RULES
Impossible Class. Unless you have taken the class before, you are screwed.
Thank God Carillo is retiring! Those of you who don't get are extremely lucky. She is extremely favrotist and only likes the smartest students. She herself can be very dense and often asks the students to solve the problems when she gets to the obviously harder parts. She picks on the weaker students and always makes you feel stupid if you don't get just one concept. She gets off topic so much you can barely learn the lesson. Also, she needs to cut her nails; they're disgusting.
Mrs. Carrillo has received many teaching awards, so if you think she can't teach maybe you should re-evaluate yourselves before giving your expert opinions on her teaching ability. Perhaps you are the problem. Maybe if you paid attention, asked for help, or perhaps you shouldn't be in the honors math class in the first place. Try taking responsibility for your sucess or failure in this class and in life.
Everone's putting Mrs. Carrillo down here, and while at the beginning of the year I'd be right there, I don't totally agree. While she's quite possibly one of the worst material teachers I've ever had, she has a sense of humor(sometimes) and has a habit of being so...quirky...you find yourself laughing. But that's her goal, to keep people paying attention. On her good days, that is; on her bad days, hope you have a shield, because she has an invisible weapons cabinet in the back.
SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!! SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
shes ehh. her hw and tests arent incredibly hard, still challenging which is good. her teaching is sometimes vague, and the worst part is that she lets some kids just walk right over her and not do anything severe about it.
WWWAAAAAHHHHHHH im gonna cry!!!!!!!! unfair, unhelpful, doesnt teach, always go off topic, which contributes to your failure on the WAY hard tests. only 5 people got an A... psssh good luck if u have her
She really doesn't like me because i'm a class distraction...oops. She is really funny, but doesn't teach the material that is necessary to get above a B on the tests.
she's honestly not that bad if you're good during class
I hated her so much at first. but if you actually study... i got a 96% in her class! even though im a sraight B student she is really sarcastic which i like... My friend hates her but i dont see why shes really nice!
She is there to help if you need it and isn't as bad as everyone thinks.
Super nice lady, but doesn't really teach well. she goes super fast, and gives horrible notes. good luck figuring out geometry by yourself!
carrillo is a great teacher for people that don't get confused easily and catch on very quickly. otherwise you will start to lag behind. basically just be good at math before you get her or else you will get lost and get bad grades
shes nice but shes terrible at teaching. i had to learn everything out of the book and that made it way harder. she kinda just reads over the notes she made rather than explaining things. and the study guides are basically exactly the same as the test
Mrs. Carrillo is really nice, but her method of teaching is kind of different. She just goes through the notes she has you print out the night before and then you do your homework the rest of class, which is nice, because it lessens your hw load (she calls it an "assignment" not "homework"). But if you have a really hard time understanding the concept, she might go a bit too fast. She is a good teacher for those who already know the topic fairly well. But you can always ask for her to explain.
Carrillo is quite possibly one of the most misunderstood teachers at TP. She is a nice, caring woman but her teaching methods don't work for some. She tends to be one of those teachers where students who kinda already know the math and are good at math excel. But if you need someone to explain, you fail. Her tests are kind of hard and they're worth 80%. As much as I like Carrillo, that class was stressful and annoying. I learned a lot though and think that people should give her a chance.
she is really funny, but is so annoying. she does favorites and doesnt teach. when you ask her a question in class, she doesnt really explain it...
Mrs. Carillo is a very smart person-but doesn't really teach. I've had her for two years now and she has improved A LOT! She now gives out notes. Go to her in the morning for help or arrange a time and she'll help you. I actually learned a lot from her so don't be too disappointed or frustrated.
Oh! She is such a nice and funny person! So far this year she has improved so much. Her notes have improved and she is teaching very well. She definitely knows her math and can explain relatively well, although she frequently makes errors on the board. She is really funny and makes math somewhat fun with her perky and optimistic demeanor. The tests though, are unkown as of right now so the easiness level might be incorrect.
don't expect to get helped during class- go in later if u want help
LISTEN UP!: Carrillo is a nice, sweet, caring person (like most other people have said). If you get on her good side, you will be fine for the rest of the year. The only downside is that she doesn't teach the concepts too well (if a few kids in the class get it, she moves on) so u'll need to do a good amount of self-teaching. I felt that all she did was assign problems and put the answers on the board.....IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION, ASK HER AND SHE *WILL* HELP YOU (until she gets fed up).
Wonderful, caring, beautiful person who really should have chosen a different career path. Will sit there and help when asked questions, but will patronize you for not understanding.
she is one of the nicest teachers that i have ever had!! i luv her so much, but she doesnt kno how to teach!
she's really nice and a great personality but...her tests are unproportional to the learning
She should not be teaching any students with IEP's. Her teaching methods are for the AP/Honor group and heaven help you if question her. She takes it out on your child.
she is a sweet, sweet, brilliant lady who dosent really know how to teach effectively. She is fun and cares a whole lot but do not expect to get a lot of learning done if you cannot learn it on your own from the book
This woman is so, ugh. She has 0 control over the classroom and she's really weak. She "teaches" (yeah right) 5-10 min and the rest of the time is spent doing hw. The worksheets are a copy of the test with diff. numbers. I'm cool w/ math so the class was a joke. The sad part is that the ppl think she is the best of the best when it comes to teaching because she sucks up and has a "good attitude." If you actually want to learn, the class is horrible and switch out.
expect to do a lot of studying on your own.A lot of times many concepts are not covered in her class notes, and sometimes vaguely mentioned in the book.Has some good tricks, but you have to ask for
mrs carrillo is a really great person. and quite funny too. if you don't understand something she teaches, ASK QUESTIONS. then, hopefully you will get it.
shez rly nice and hilarious in an insane sorta way... ya, she duznt rly teach.... at all... so u sorta need to like EVERYTHING on ur own. however, if u just do the worksheets and hw itz easy
shes a great person but to teach you she do one problem on th board an dthen expect to to figure the rest out on your own. the worksheets she gives you to review for the test are most helpful part because it bascially is the test just with diff numbers. you grade your own hw in class so just give yourself a hundred percent and then memmorise the worksheet and youll do fine. Good luck
Doesn't teach and makes you figure out how to do everything on your own, not a helpful teacher.
Is she a teacher or what?!!!! She should actually try teaching for once! The only things that I learned were from the book. I don't think she even taught me anything! Plus, she gossips on the phone and sings when we're taking a test, including the on the day of the final. ANNOYING!
student: mrs.c. how do you do this problem Mrs C.: ooo hahahahaha you funny, go away now
Mrs. Carrillo is a headache if I ever saw one...You ultimately have to learn things on your own because she doesn't really teach, we copy notes from the book and we repeat them in class...We grade our own homework which is a plus...
If you actually do all your homework and put effort into it, her classes are really not that bad, just kind of boring sometimes. If you don't do your work, you'll be confused.
She gives you a worksheet with all the quiz questions.
She does not teach her students. She talks AT you and just gives you the material to learn. I have her currently for Algebra 2 / Trig honors. Bad teacher.
omg i hated her!!! she doesnt know what she is saying ever and she even makes mistakes teaching math!!!
Do you like to teach yourself math you've never learned before? I don't, but this is what I had to endure in her class.
Mood Swings, but at least she let's us do hw in class and lets us grade our own hw (free points)
She is a fossil that has no real world experience. She's proud of it too!
really nice and knows the material well but some days she acts as if teaching is very tiring and doesnt feel like explaining or helping students out
she is a terrible teacher, if you don't get the material, too bad; she's always "too busy" to explain it.
i love her as a person, but the teaching is questionable, a tough year
love her as a person, but doesnt know much about teaching
tries her best...just doesn't understand that we aren't all math teachers. Very nice, make friends w/ her and you'll be set!
I don't no what they are talking about, but she teaches my class well and answers questions. However she does put notes on the board only.
Not a good teacher, or a nice person, in my opinion.
NEEDS to EXPLAIN the notes. writing them on a whiteboard and reading them tells the student NOTHING.
alright..shes not that bad...she just doesnt do her job...the notes you copy are already in the book, homework every night :(
Did Ms. Carillo teach at Earl Warren JHS?If so, she would catch us passing notes, save them, and them put them on a board for everyone to read at year's end!
Decides on first day whether or not you are worthy of her teaching... Instead of teaching, has students copy overhead pjctr slides. <Had her in 1988>
Mrs. Carrillo doesn't really know what she's teaching. She's not helpful, especially if you want a question answered.
make sure to do ALL the hmwk (she grades it) and STUDY for tests/quizzes. constant rush in class. gives EC. nice but lectures confusing and fast, just read text
I love mrs. Carrillo as a person, yet is very unclear in the classroom. She wil help after school if need be though, and is very caring also. One of my favorite
don't expect to learn much, but be prepared to copy a lot of notes from the board
MRS CARRILLO IS MY FAVORITE PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!! she's always so nice and cool, and i love talking to her
Mrs. Carillo rules! Her class is fun and she is nice to her students.
