She is a good teacher but watch out if you are not an AP student and have her for regular U.S history. She treats my class like we are so dumb and then talks badly about us to the APUSH students. The work is just as hard for the non AP as it is for the AP. I would recommend taking APUSH cause you will end up with the same grade but in the ap class and she will like you.
Very smart teacher. Definitely knows what she's talking about and speaks well. I was very prepared for the AP. However, she was unreasonably tough on written assignments. You could work for 24+ hours on a paper, be extremely proud, and then get a B; plus, her explanations on the paper are indecipherable and she wasn't really that into explaining what you did wrong. Anyways, you'll probably get a 5.
I loved Mrs. Scudder's class!! I had her for APUSH and it was the best history class I have every taken. I looked forward to her class every day and I felt like I learned a lot. She's definitely tough but great!
You work, you study, and you still don't get the grade you want or you deserve. In terms of knowledge, you'll learn a lot and do well on the regents and other 3d party exams, however when it comes to Mrs. Scudder's tests, it's as if you were in an AP
Clearly knowledgeable and engaging but completely disabled by her overwhelming personal bias. As her student, I probably shouldn't know every single opinion that she has about politics and history, let alone her distaste for Nicholas Cage and hatred of bananas. Though she knows all of the facts, she cares much less about them than she does about her own opinions. She also plays favorites and does not even attempt to mask it which has been mentioned by several other people.
With Ms.Scudder, it's either she likes you, or she doesn't. She is a very qualified teacher, although she definitely plays favorites. Her favoritism definitely may impact your grade positively or negatively (if she doesn't like you). It is hard to go for extra help as she talks in a very condescending tone, and tends to give vague instructions for specific topics. When it comes to her tests, her test questions are brutally specific. She is a hard teacher and harsh grader, good luck.
best teacher i ever had, hilarious at the same time and extremely passionate
Clain and Goldberg are hard just for the sake of being hard. Scudder is hard and makes you really understand the material- you'll know what I mean if you get her. Extremely tough grader. Wonderfull
She's hysterical and always has really funny stories that somehow relate to what the lesson is about. She is also, by far, the hardest of the APUSH teachers.
Scudder knows her stuff and knows it well. However, she's far from the best teacher. Often very unclear in what she wants from students, and I only learned what I did from reading Amsco (highly recommended), not her class.
She knows her stuff front and back, but her tounge is as sharp as her wit. Translation: do all of the reading/homework and you should be fine. Having a knowledge of current events gets kudos as well.
the best APUSH teacher, unquestionably. however, if you get her... be afraid. be *very* afraid.
I really like Ms. Scudder. She's so nice, and really funny. She's really hard, though. She's a REALLY hard essay grader.
Ms Scudder is awesome-shes a tough teacher but shes a genuinely nice person and i love her
excellent classroom enviornment and attitude, she is either an incredible actress or just a flat out awesome person and teacher
She as 6 of her own kids and still manages to be a great AP American teacher! Hats off! She really understands kids, history, and current events.
I LOVE Mrs. Scudder! She's not like any other teacher - she can joke around with students rather than yell at them. Her tests are hard, but her class is awesomely fun!
She teaches way above the NY State tests- so we do really well on department finals and regents! the only problem is her tests are really hard!- but she is willing to go off and teach out of the requirements so we understand what is going on in the world!
