She's too strict. I feel like she forgot I was there sometimes. She jumps to conclusions about situations.
If you go in for help she'll give it to you and respect you for asking. She won't tell you what to write, but she'll walk you through how to get to the answer. She's only difficult because it is a college level class. It's not like she can go easy on you. If you really did that bad in her class you should have switched out. Her grading system is based on how much you grew as a writer. If you didn't change a draft at all how can she give you a good grade on it? She said she wouldn't do that.
The best teacher at New Trier. Hands down. Yes, it's true, the class is hard, and it's a ton of work. But do not wuss out and quit if you can keep your head above water. You will learn so much, you'll never read or write the same way again. And that's a good thing. I cannot say enough good things about this woman. She's a genius.
shes is the best english teacher i have ever had. not the easiest. but she teaches so well.
Although she is supposedly hard for the AP classes, she isn't to bad on the sophomore class and has helped me learn alot.
An absolutely brilliant person. Junior AP English was the hardest class of my life but I have learned more from her in one year than all my other teachers combined. Getting on her "good" side is important, and the way to do that is conference with her a lot. She will help you SO much and the class becomes less difficult when you talk with her about what she wants from you. There will be times you hate her, but honestly taking her course was the best decision of my life.
Ms. D'Agostino is an incredible teacher, you will learn more from her than in all your other classes combined. However, it'll definitely be the toughest class you take in high school. If you have her, it'll be a rough year, but you will be happy you did for the rest of your life.
She really is an awesome teacher. I have her right now for AP Junior English and it's such a difficult class but I feel like I'm only learning a percent of the things she has to teach. You will only learn in this class if you absolutely try your best, though. Her A's are based on how much she likes you, yes but also on how much you learn. She doesn't care so much that you work hard as you get it. She's nicer to her senior classes than juniors, but you want a rec from her. She's retiring in 2-3 years.
I had her in 1996-1997 for AP English during my Junior year. She is by far the best teacher I had at New Trier. To this day, I use the writing, reading and thinking skills that she taught me. The class is not easy, but it is worth it. If you do what she tells you, it will be the hardest class you have in high school, but you'll learn things that will stick with you the rest of your life.
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had at New Trier. Not gonna lie, she is extremely hard and can be intimidating. However, she knows what she's doing and does it well, which is why she acts strictly. To do well in her class make sure you have conferences with her at least once a week. Don't listen to the people who complain about her; they just didn't do the work she asked of them. She's basically brilliant.
She is brilliant and already I've learned a lot. She tries to let students figure things out on their own, but when we're really lost, she still isn't helpful. However, her grading system is unfair. She really grades based on how much she likes you, so, you can work your tail off all year, but she still won't give you a good grade.
When I got her for Junior year AP english, I was scared to death by every senior who talked to me. But I approached the class with an open mind and managed to get on her good side by some lighthearted joking in class. I ended up doing hardly any work, learning a lot, and getting an A. It was the funnest, most helpful class of my junior year. It could be hard, but if you play your cards right like I did you will find she's a fantastic teacher. She is also hands down the smartest person I ever met.
She's incredibly intelligent and you can learn a lot, but the class is emotionally wrenching. She's sarcastic and mean a lot of the time, but i do feel that i learned a lot. She plays favorites, so get on her good side. Fast.
Awesome! This sentence is gramatical and brilliantly crafted b.c. of my time in the D'ag pound!!! I had her in '94.
She is the hardest teacher I ever had but I love her for it. She never gave up on me and I learned so much. Ms. D is amazing!!
She's quick to bluntly judge others, without looking at herself. She teaches candor and has none. Don't be afraid of her, just hate her.
If you can survive her rigorous course, you will become a commendable rhetorician.
I've never respected someone as much as I respect Ms. D'Agostino.
If you don't want help and don't want to ask any questions you will love her.
A great teacher who really prepares you, but has a terrible god-complex. Her honesty helps the most - just grow a spine. Don't become obsessed with her - she's only another person.
One of the smartest teachers at New Trier without a doubt. What I learned in that class extended so far beyond English. Probably the most influential class I have ever taken.
She is an amazing woman. Anyone who doesn't see this is not reading critically.
Best teacher I've ever had. Incredibly hard, incredibly honest--but incredibly good.
rock star...if you wanna learn you will. its all up to you
She's not that helpful or clear because she's pushing you to learn and think on your own. Hardest teacher I have ever had, made my year hell, but I've grown so much because of her.
What I most like is her honesty. That is what some people don't like. She tell you right up front that she wants you to learn. DO IT, and you'll get a good grade. Whiners, beware.
Best English teacher ever! She hates slackers, however.
If I could grow up to be half as wise as this woman, I'd feel like I was on top of the world! She is THE best English teacher. The people that don't like her are often the ones that are lazy and shouldn't be in AP English in the first place.
just listen to everything she says, and follow her directions. you'll be fine. she is the best teacher in all of existence.
She is the best teacher and coolest person at New Trier...some people love her and others hate her, but EVERYONE will learn something from her!
Amazing.I love Ms.D.Most kids are used to being babied by their teachers, so at the first sign of constructive criticism they go running home to Mommy and Daddy
If you put in the effort, you'll learn everything you need and mroe. She also has an incredible fashion sense.
The hardest teacher I ever had but also the best. You either love her or you hate her, but at the end you know you'll never be the same.
Ms. D is the best!! by far the best english teacher, always there to help and guide me throuhg my essays:)
Fantastic teacher, anyone is lucky to have her. She expects a lot, but its really rewarding if you meet those expectations.
hardest and most intimidating teacher i ever had....i learned a lot from her, but i'm sure that there was a nicer way to do it...she has made a ton of kids cry
amazing teacher, but at the same time she's ruining my life.
She is without question the best teacher I've had! The only way anyone could dislike her is if they are lazy! It's simple: you get back as much as you put in!
She is the most wonderful teacher I've had during high school!
Best english teacher i ever had out of the 4 years at nt
She's brilliant and gave me extra help on Junior theme when I had an awful teacher.
