I had Ms. Smith back when I was a junior in 2009-2010. My first year in college was so much easier thanks to her and Ms. Kohl. The English education that I received from them helped me to prepare so much for my future and I can never thank them enough. If you have the opportunity to take AP English at South, you should DO IT! So worth it.
I never had Ms. Smith for English, but I wish I did. I had her for Forensics back in the day. Way back in the day. The thing I liked most about her was that she suffered no fools. If you were a thinker, or at least tried to use your noodle, she was a willing mentor. If you tried to skate, your life was going to be a tad more difficult. I liked that about her. And, of course, she knows her subject matter very well. I honestly wish I had her for a few more classes.
While she was smart and knew what she was talking about, she plays favorites big time. English was my favorite subject until I took her class -- she discouraged me from taking the AP test, but I did anyway and I passed it easily.
This woman made preparing for the AP test fun. A huge percentage of her students get 5's on the AP test, and you'll learn something every day. She's an INCREDIBLE teacher and she cares a ton.
Hard teacher definitely. However, I learned a ton in her class, though I didn't get the grade that I was used to getting in an English class. Very challenging, but prepares you for higher levels.
Ms. is an amazing teacher. I look forward to her class every day, because I feel like I really LEARN things and I feel as if she really cares about her students.
Her Sophomore AP English class was harder than a majority of my college classes, but that might be because she prepared me so well. One of the best teachers in the district.
Some people claim she (and Kohl) are intimidating. BS! Why don't you have the guts to get her help privately instead of relying on Mommy? She tries everything to get us to understand and values us.
qle to understand her class. She just not only wants you to succed in her class but also in all of your others.
I had Smith - Williams - Kohl for my AP English classes. Seriously, the education that you're going to get from Ms. Smith (and Ms. Kohl) will rival college.
good times, but not great. she does give good advise though
sometimes confusing, but overall a wonderful teacher. the only time i don't like her is when its grammer time, but i'm sure i'll use it in the future.
She will push you to do your best, but in the end the results are amazing. She is also really funny and tries to make the class as fun and relaxing as it can be
Absolutely she's difficult, but great. Now in college, I rate her sophomore English class as the top 3 most useful ever. She's big on tough love and tons of fun
I've had her two years in a row. Last year she was amazing, this year I think she's wandering in the dark(but it's her first year teaching juniors.)
Her honors English class is hard, but she's probably the best teacher I've ever had, and that includes college. She definitely knows what she's talking about.
One of the best college prep classes I ever took was sophomore year with her.
VERY difficult and VERY discouraging at first, but hang in there: she's a great teacher.
a very hard class, but she makes it hilarious and entertaining.
