I had him for chemistry and his labs were fun! He's very unorganized though because he once lost my final exam but thank god I didn't have to take it again. He's a cool teacher and loves to bake cookies for everyone on mole day :-) He's actually easier than all of the other Chem teachers at school. Sat in the back and all I did was sleep and chill and I still passed the class.
Narquiz Cervantes is a dope individual who knows his stuff but has a hard time teaching. He gets off-topic and is very reckless with grades, but will always give you a hand if you do science fair projects. He's super helpful for science fair and volunteers his time and knowledge to help you succeed! For AP Chem, didn't really learn much chemistry and was unprepared for the AP Exam. But the class isn't too hard to get an A in!
Being a 3rd year university student now, I can say cervantes really taught me a lot back in AP Chem . he was one of my favorite teachers, nice guy, very wise . listen to him kids.
I had Cervantes for AP Chemistry and AP Physics B, and I have to admit that I learned a lot... about everything UNRELATED to physics and chemistry. -__- To be honest, I think I learned more about choirs and his uncles and aunts than actual science. If you care about learning about choirs and his family history, take his class. If you actually want to learn science, you're screwed because the rest of our science department is just as bad. Dx
He's fun to talk to
Cervantes tells use great stories everyday but often repeats them too much. He is arrogant and acts like he is superior, thinking that he knows everything. However, he is really chill and I ended up with an A+ by doing the homework(given once every week) and projects. I basically spend that period doing homework, reviewing for tests, or just play iPhone games ( he doesn't care if u use cellphone or not).
Cervantes is a nice talker. Can easily get on to tangent and waste a lot of time. Arrogant.
If it was AP Cervantes or AP random stories this class be fantastic!!! jk!!!! AP chemistry could've fooled me. How are his random offtopic lifestories supposed to help you pass the AP test? Hint...they don't. But pretend to be friends with him and or go visit at lunch or break and pretend like his life story is interesting and you'll pass.
His AP Chemistry class is a complete joke. He collects homework, but never puts it in school loop. He is very irresponsible and has to constantly be reminded about assignments. He only puts tests on school loop, which brings down all of our grades. He goes off topic about 5 or 6 times every day. He likes to brag about his achievements and talk about his personal experiences. He teaches us concepts, but we never practice them and have no idea what to do when it comes to tests.
Mr. Cervantes gets off topic almost everyday. He's a great guy, but horrible teacher. When he does teach, the lessons are easy to understand.
This was the best calculus study-Homework center...oh wait THIS was supposed to be AP chem?!?!?!?! Could've fooled me. Cool story bro tell it again...because that's all we hear his stories.
Got a B and didn't know anything about the subject. I did have plenty of time to work on math during class. I also learned about random stories that I don't even remember other than they were random.
Knows lots and talks lots about stuff that is not the subject he is teaching. I got an A in chem only because I did the extra cred science project. Literally, we did balancing equation whole year because he keeps getting off topic.
He knows a lot of trivia facts and he likes to tell cool stories from about 9:45 to the end of the period.
He gets of topic a lot. Some days he doesn't even teach, but he really is a good guy.
Favoritism at its best....if you are one of the anointed then you get an easy A. How can you grade people when you don't really grade anything. Seriously this class is a joke. The people who "learn" are people who are already great in math and could already do the work with out him. The people he's supposed to "teach" don't actually get the help they need. He's really good at telling stories that have zero to do with the topic though.
Before i took this class, i did not like chemistry. After i took this class, i still did not like chemistry
He's "into" boys and will most likely give them an A if they're good looking. He doesn't teach because he doesn't know anything, literally.
Very unprofessional. I doubt his credibility as a teacher.
Although he always gets side track, he does teaches. For AP exams he does prepare you but really you would have to listen. You can ask a lot of questions and be engaged with him, the class for you will be easy. He answers all your questions. Very helpful but once you start talking with him, he'll never let you go. LOL
Good teacher, although once he goes off on some off-topic discussion, you will never know what led to that, although funny jokes and in tune with the "Pop Culture" world. Very helpful for AP Chem (as well as future life o.o), although I wouldn't suggest slacking off. He gives curves, but you never know when. He prepares you for the AP Chem exam that is meant to fail many.
super cool be nice to him and he will be to u. he throws alot of parties for the class and has cool labs and projects for us to do. you wont learn much but its a easy A
he's a really cool teacher. sure, you dont learn anything in his class, but its an easy A! hes got jokes but is really repetitive. but that just means less work for students!
Yep, having him as your AP Chem teacher is your worst nightmare ever. He doesn't teach at all and if you want to pass the AP exam, one hint !!! DON'T listen to him and study on your own !!!!!!!!
ok, so hes not the best teacher and i didnt learn much in his class, but hes a good person. i worked on a sci project with him for 2 years and he was super helpful. he can be a meanie sometimes tho.
"fallacious analogies" was the perfect term. constantly uses the same examples and jokes. classic example of a "knowitall". just extremely annoying. but easyA. spends a lifetime explaining justoneidea
He was a easy teacher, but he doesn't teach much. However he had great lab project that u learn from. In his Physic class theres bottle rockets, kites, and in his chem class theres soap makin, and such. You'll have fun !!!
Mr. Cervantes doesn't really teach physics well, just gives a lot of competitive projects and he doesn't seem to have a gradebook. Never shows you your grades, but gives everyone a fair grade based on how you act in class LOL
I don't think he has a gradebook. for the kite project, we were like, "look! our kite's flying!" and he was like, "right, pink kite, flies." >_< waste of a class.
i think he is a great teacher. my child always tells me how she enjoys coming to your class everyday. She loves you so much as a chemistry teacher.
u could fall alseep on that class. he does repeat the things over and over and over. it get boring afterawhile. so be a good person in that class.
If you nice to him he will give you a good grade no matter how bad your doing in the class
Cervantes's classes are EASY. I aced his chem class, didnt even do most of the HW and I slept right in front of him. teaches the same thing over and over.
Doesn't teach, just rambles off on his own life. You can sleep and do anything as long as you "look" smart and every now and then turn in homework.
funny, layback class, minimal effort and still get a good grade...hell, you can even sleep in there or do other class's hw too! ((just keep eye contact))
clear, easygoing teacher. his class is like a stand up comedy about science. makes u understand it from a different level. easy class
didn't like him much but just endure his rantings about life. do well on the projects and ur set.
he is cool. hes nice. he goes off topic, but hey less work. lots of hw, tests are hard. but he grades on behavior i think, so be good and act like ur smart.
he does repeat same stuff on and on, but he has good intentions. pretty lienient too.
He keeps talking on and on and on.. And compares stuff to the point where it gets off topic...
