He's a fantastic teacher, when he's not going on narcissistic chants about how the other staff don't know anything.
This world needs more people like Mr.Gates
NO. Cross country was hell. I joined to get better at running but quit because of him. I haven't had him for English, but have heard even his cross country favorites pray to not have class with him. A friend of mine stayed in cross country but hated it because of Gates. If i tried to explain the horror, I'd run out of space. + bad memories *shivers*
SO I never had him for English (yet), but for Cross Country, YEESH! The preseason meeting was tense enough, the Summer Camp was just harsh, we ran 6 MILES ON THE FIRST DAY!!!!!!! But I still made the time cut and enjoyed my first Season. Halfway through he took a break or something and Assistant Coaches Rossi and Muniz took over. Order was RESTORED when they came back. Rossi made it strick, but Gates was just all over the place, never actually RAN the RUNS!! He always biked and told kids to run!
Coach Gates has been improving as a coach over my span at Northwood. He now encourages students more, and listens to what we have to say. He also pushes us more than he used to. Thanks for helping...
Knows his stuff and is good at teaching it... when he actually teaches. Tries way to hard to be badass and its clear by the way he talks about himself (which he spends 90% of the class period doing so) that he's arrogant and kind of selfish. but he's great at explaining concepts
I'll be honest, he loves to talk about himself and his daughters a TON!!! But i have never had a better teacher in my high school career and he actually teaches you how to write a really good essay. Overall he's a great teacher, but not that great of a person.
All he does is tell me to "look it up for yourself man" or that he met Kesey at an ungrateful dead concern. Talks about himself like he's a martyr and how his daughters are so amazing. Can't believe Mrs. Gates actually had children with this dude. All that aside, he knows his stuff so as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. Good teacher, total tool.
Im not sure if Mr. Gates writes in English or hieroglyphics, he spends the majority of class talking about his personal life and goes for hours about a single subject. He makes corrections on essays but you can' t read a single word. Homework on the board looks like something out of an Egyptian code book. I'm surprised there isn't a test on his daughters because he talks about them so much
not a good coach at all .
always talks about himself. thinks he's some kind of hotshot. always reads the main roles because he loves hearing the sound of his own voice. strict and doesn't care about failing half the class. grades hard and makes the exams difficult too.
I went to him during tutorial so that he could read over some of my college essays and he spent half the time writing homework on the board and handing out jerseys for his cross country kids while I j
have him for Contemp. He talks way too much about himslef and thinks way too highly ofhimslef. He def knows what he is talkng about but his class isn't that easy
i dont know what these other kids are talking about, but Mr. Gates is a great teacher. These kids are probably people who just got a bad grade in his class due to lack of studying or paying attention.
though it's true he spends too much time talking about himself and his personal life, he's a good teacher and really effective when preparing for AP test.
I found Mr. Gates very unapproachable. He spent 20 minutes of class talking about himself and reminded us constantly about his 100% AP Test pass rate, which made me want to fail to ruin it.
One of the BEST teachers ever!!! He is so funny and his class is really easy!
discussions in class are interesting; expects very good essays, but is more than willing to help; he cares for his students and makes class enjoyable
He expects a lot of his students. It is good because it gets you ready for college english.
So full of himself... tries to act cool with other students but really it's a joke.
he's a great teacher, but yeah he can be hard...i love how he digresses into something totally random EVERY SINGLE CLASS, wasting about 20 minutes of class time...just awesome
Hard...yes One of the english teachers i've ever had....yes awesome...yes
He was such an awesome teacher! Gates is so funny, but he does go a little over the top with his admiration for Barry Bonds.
He has passion for what he does and that is very much reflected through his teaching skills. He loves to teach and cares for students. Also if you're black, you're lucky.
He's fun because he talks about other things than just what you're covering in class.
Mr. Gates, an awesome coach, he really prepares you for other things in life where you need determination and dedication
Yes, he's hard, but he actually TEACHES and cares about what he's doing...
I used to despise this man for having a hard class. Now I thank him immensely for guaranteeing me an A in Banagas with his preparation.
Great teacher even though he gave me a 60 on my essay
I'd have to say that Mr. Gates taught me more about writing than any other teacher I've ever had. Great teacher, but you better agree with what he says.
D.J Vaibhav is back your the best teacher ive ever had in my life
good teacher, but ridiculously hard. he likes jazz :-) but also barry bonds :-(
