Rome is a complicated teacher. He directs well, so I encourage you to work with him on out of class productions. In the classroom, he is great when he has structured coursework. In Junior and Senior year theatre, he gives his classes much more freedom - sometimes too much. He has very high expectations and does not take excuses, so don't make them. He treats his actors much, much better than he tr
It really depends wether you're a good student or not
get on his good side the second you walk into the classroom. turn in your first 2 play evals on time, and be a good actor. once your on his good side, you can sleep through class (literally) and still get an easy A.
Mr. Rome tends to have two sides. One part of him-- EXTREMELY EVIL. Like, run hide under a rock as he yells sort of evil.. you learn to deal with it. On the plus side though, when he's in a good mood he can be very helpful, giving good instruction. When you receive a compliment, it feels like it's worth something. Stay on his good side.
He knows his stuff, but if you get on his bad side then you're screwed.
Really Harsh, but very good at teaching. Stay on his good side, and if you want to get anywhere in the drama department, start in freshman year with drama 1, and always audition for the play...always.
He does not teach drama very well and I was dissapointed because I thought he was supposed to be great. It's definately time for him to retire.
he is a phenomenal teacher. HE ACTUALLY TEACHES unlike ms hard. he is very disorganized though and pops up due dates at completely unexpected times!
Talented man, but it's about him and his shows, not about the students. Kids must be in his class to get roles despite their recognized skills, especially singing. Group trips too consuming, too.
Knows a lot, but not always the best teacher: very poorly organized, minimal preparation for IB assessments, and highly moody. On bright side: relatively easy A/B+, guaranteed part in his shows.
rome is a bad teacher and he shouldn't be aloud to teach. he definitely crosses the line between teacher and student and that's just wrong. down with rome!
Lots of people took his class as a slacker class, but it's anything but. Even though there was a lot of work, it was still my favorite class. If you take the class seriously, you can get an A.
he can come off as arrogant and mean but hes a really good teacher and really tries to help the students learn. his deadlines get to be a problem if you arent sharp because he only announces things maybe once except plays.
if you want to be get a good part, you have to take his class. teaches like he directs-- REALLY dictatorial. take IB Theatre Arts, best class at Robinson. Lots of good discussion, great friends, etc.
Took speech/communications class - it's very tough, but I learned skills that helped me communicate and talk in front of groups with more confidence. Gr8 teacher!
Questionable teaching methods. Picks favorites and embarasses students excessively. Only really cares about his plays but in that respect is very talented as a director.
Definitely plays favorites. If you're not one of his pets, you're out of luck. I happen to be one of his pets, but he doesn't know the contempt I hold in my heart for him.
Rome dawg...I don't even know if I see him as a school teacher anymore. He's made drama my home second home and an amazing director. He's wise, intelligent, honest, patient, and wants you to learn from your mistakes. he yells and yells, but just to get it out of his system. and yes he's tough, but only because he wants you to improve. I respect him so much, thank you for being such an important figure in my life. and when I win my Tony, I'm thanking you!
i had him @ a camp ovr the summer & LUVD HIM...hes the gr8test..he knew me through my bro so twas all good..& he really knos what he is tlkn bout..DONT DISS HIM
an awsome teacher, bit hard sometimes but he's a cool guy, jsut dont let him get stressed
He does push you very hard- but if you're really interested in what he teaches you'll soon realize it's for your benefit. He has a brilliant and open mind!
Mr. Rome is easily the most influential teacher I've had. He demands perfection, and sometimes seems a little harsh, but he always gets the best out of you.
I took Tech 1 five years ago it was an obsene amount of work. The final portfolio had about 50 criteria that needed to be fulfilled. He belittles students alot
He is a cool teacher and he makes everything fun. He is also pretty energetic.
I respect this man so much not only as a teacher and director, but as a person. I truly admire him!
Works very hard and I respect the amount he helps with production. A Brilliant man
Easily the most agile theatrical mind in the state of Virginiia
