Ms Kudera definitely has a reputation for being harsh, which isn't undeserved, but she's not unfairly strict and she's really knowledgeable and willing to help
She might actually be a god
a sweet woman who wants her class in general to do well. she can be scary in class almost all the time and will scold you for drinking water in class or sitting a certain way or sometimes even asking for more clarification on a project. all of these things make her unbearable sometimes. set in her ways and there isn't much room for new ideas. she was just ok, but i never want to have her again.
Very interesting class and great teaching method. Would recommend to those who enjoy a historical challenge
she is such a good teacher, very knowledgable also
She's a cool teacher. A lot of people are scared of her, but get past the hype, its not too hard to get a good grade in her class. PARTICIPATE! Know your stuff before you say anything. Mentally prepare for one answer, usually not for the first question she asks, but a summarizing of the key points, with at least one example. I stopped doing the notes, and near the end, she checks the notes about as many times as you have passes. BS well, he will roast you if you spurt nonsense. Great teacher fun
I learned more about writing from Ms. Kudera than I did from all of my English teachers at Hunter combined. I had her for two years in a row, and although I can think of two occasions when I actually cried in her presence, in retrospect her class was incredibly important in teaching me to think analytically, work under pressure, and write effectively. If you have her, DO THE HOMEWORK EVERY NIGHT and be prepared for BRUTAL essay tests and term paper grades, but be prepared to learn SO much.
ms. kudera is an extremely knowledgable teacher who just wants you to do well. she manages to make boring topics interesting and is actually pretty funny when you get used to her sense of humor. sure, she yelled at you... but you only did 10 out of 25 notecards, what did you expect?
Ms. Kudera is an extremely knowledgeable teacher who takes the job of teaching seriously.
Years since her Global program, I have none of the nostalgia claimed by other students. I find no renewed appreciation for her teaching. Her teaching was a simple regurgitation of textbook materials which rejected any creative thought and required direct conformance to her own opinions. She was extremely mean-spirited and frequently insulted her students, both struggling and strong. This was not exciting or playful, but in fact poor teaching. Her tests focused on trivial and useless material that ignored the more important and broader concepts of the curriculum. She provided no useful critiques of papers. She did nothing to inspire her students, but instead taught by fear and ignored the Socratic method in favor of endless lectures. Her grading was arbitrary and guided by favoritism, which I say as a former favorite. In the generally weak and right-biased department which Kagan haplessly leads, Kudera was a particularly weak link.
One of the smartest teachers I ever had. Her demand for rigorous thinking and writing completely improved my intellectual ability. As a college student now, I urge you: do the work. Do the work. Do the work. She expects a lot. Meet her expectations (or, as I'm sure she'd wish for you--set and meet your own high expectations for your academic work) and you will become a genuinely smarter person. You will think faster and more clearly. A first rate teacher. I wonder why she teaches high school and not college.
Kudera!! She's the type of teacher you can only appreciate after you've finished her class. I learned so much and her lectures were really interesting! She only lives up to the scary hype if you don't do work or you don't try in her class.
Ms. Kudera is an amazing teacher. Sure, she can be intimidating and a little rude sometimes, but you have to appreciate her teaching skills.
Ms. Kudera was a great teacher who made history comprehensive and interesting. She really understands the material, and her classes go a lot more in depth than just the facts. Unlike what some people say, her grading seemed fair to me, and she was always willing to meet outside of class to help students who were behind on a project or confused in class. Also a really nice person, even though she can be harsh in class. Only problem is that she takes forever to grade things.
I love her sassiness and no-nonsense attitude. She is extremely moody and plays favorites throughout the year. Her class was interesting, but yet I was always afraid of participating in class due to the fact that she has a very condescending glare when a student speaks. I still love her though!
She's a great teacher-- but she has serious problems with her mood, and can be terrorizing
She's an excellent teacher. I learn so,so,soo much in her global class. Yes, If you get on her bad side by not handing in your stuff on time or not paying attention, she will hate you and you are screwed. She can have mood swings at times, but if you participate well and reveiw your notes on a regualar basis, you'll get an A. Also her projects are super fun! Her exams are scary, but there not as hard as you would expect them to be. I love her!
Here's the deal kiddos: try not to complain. She's a gift, but you need to meet expectations. It's not easy to see, at first. Should you try to make an assertion, any at all, she will expect thorough, clear, meaningful examples. She will not smile and nod as you struggle to conjure some to verbalization; she may stare with disapproval or boredom. This can be a horrifying experience. But, as she will tell you, it truly makes you a better thinker and debater.
1/2] Dear Clare, You ruined global. Two years in a row your class was a time of terror and suffering, with random bouts of moodiness and grades pulled out of thin air. You probably think I did badly; no, I got A grades in your class. It's not the grades I don't like, it's you. You treated your students terribly, you graded projects on a whim, your teaching style would have been out of date in the 1700s, and you made one of my favorite subjects sheer misery. Sure, 9th grade was a little
[2/2] better than the literal torture of your 8th grade class, but you still ruined Global. You acted childishly whenever you made a mistake, beamed whenever you humiliated one of your students (they're 12 and 13, really?), and refused to meet with us. I couldn't care less if you figure out who this is, because that's just how much I dislike you and your class. You should not be a teacher. You ruined two years of my life and I'll never like Global again. Thanks for everything, Clare.
Ms. Kudera is one of the most knowledgeable teachers that I have met. She really knows all the information that she teaches and I really have appreciated being taught by a teacher who actually knows what she is doing. However, she is extremely difficult. She plays clear favorites and offered little to no help throughout the course of the year. She expects us to know how to do everything by ourselves. She yells a lot, and also gets mad, even if you haven't done anything wrong.
She's super vague with the end-of-the year term paper. She's hard to reach and hates giving help/advice outside of class. She hates the word "mindset", is a strict grader, and is incredibly intimidating. HOWEVER, she is possibly the best TEACHER in all of Hunter. I actually learn stuff in her class.
Ms. Kudera can be scary, but is a very good teacher. I find class with her interesting on a daily basis, but she is a very harsh grader. Though her questions are thought provoking, she can give you scary glares and shoot you down if you answer with something she doesn't agree with. The discussions she leads are interesting, but she shows too many documentaries. This may seem like a good thing, but they are packed with info coming at you quickly THAT YOU WILL BE TESTED ON. Too much hw, too.
Might be the most intimidating person I have ever met. I regularly get an between 1 and 2.5 hours of just global hw per night. I don't participate in class because her facial expressions scare me lol. She has favorites too.
Well Mrs.Kudera is a pretty good teacher and is mostly nice to me but she really can grade harshly for some things and takes homeworks into a big account, even though I missed 2 homeworks she said on my report card that I have lots of missing homework. She is also very nasty to most of the kids and even when I answer correctly and really well she says things like: Would anyone else like to answer, even though afterward the student just restates. Overall an okay teacher but very nasty
On some days she can be really happy and those are the days where class is exciting and interesting and even if global is not your favorite subject, you can still be compelled to participate. Her tests require studying at least 3 days in advance to the exam. As long as you are a good student, pay attention in class, participate in discussion, and don't ask stupid questions, you will do fairly well in her class.
Although i will agree that she has mood swings often she really only gets mad at the people who don't do the work or don't try as hard. In truth she can actually be very nice and understanding and once in a while really fun in class. Her assignments are really easy and i don't know who said that she grades harshly but she really doesn't and a lot of people think that she's a really good teacher.
She is one of the meanest teachers i have ever had - elementary, middle, or high school. never sympathetic to her students, plus a ridiculouskly harsh grader who teachers purely by lecturing - incredibly boring, and thent tests you on the twelfth word she may have said one day of class.
She's a great teacher and knows what she's talking about. Although her tests and assignments are difficult, she provides you with a great expanse of knowledge that only she can explain through. She's amazing and super sweet once you get to know her!
Although I do admit that she has several mood swings and can be quite outright rude sometimes, she is highly knowledgeable. Trust me, as long as you raise your hand in each class at least once and answer her question as fully as you can, as long as you do all your hw, she will have no problem with you and will refrain from insulting you. If you are the type to talk in class and rarely do hw, she will have it out for you. She can be funny sometimes. I dislike when she is moody however.
Although Ms. Kudera teaches us well she is unfair, and mean. Her teaching style is lecture based which makes for a class that is uninteresting. She is very strict about note-taking "if I'm speaking, you're taking notes" and says very mean things. One day she assigned a reading, but was unclear about how much to read EVERY STUDENT understood to read the first paragraph, not the entire packet And yet she yelled at us, called us "pathetic". She calls out students over nothing, and plays favorites.
Great teacher. You guys are all haters but if you study from the text book and do the reading her class is great. She is moody but still. The kids she hates are kids who do things wrong so if you do it right the way its supposed to be done your fine. Otherwise you might be in some trouble. She may be lenient on her policies depending on her mood though so you can only hope.
Grades too harshly. She teaches very quickly, and in her case, this is a fault. She does not go in depth into material, and relies heavily on students to independently study from textbook in order to pass her tests.
Please, take my word for it, this is a terrible, terrible, terrible teacher. Failing a test she gave us! Ha! And, she doesn't want any re-tests?? So, basically she's OK with you getting a D- on your report card. She plays favorites too. AAAAAH.
It's only my first week with her and everyone i know is scared to death of her. Her material is super boring so far, she has tons of crazy strict, unfair rules, and I'm too scared to fall asleep in her class, but I know at least 3 other students who already have. D:
She is an AMAZING teacher. She does have mood swings, but when she's in a good mood, her classes can actually be fun. Harsh grader, and make sure to do your homework. SERIOUSLY. Be prepared to learn.
She has these really annoying mood swings. DO THE HOMEWORK. or risk being humiliated at the surprise note check. (she springs A LOT of those at the end of the year.) Tough grader also.
SUCH AN INCREDIBLE TEACHER Much stricter than most others but it works for her
MS. KUDERA IS AN AWESOME TEACHER. STOP DENYING THE TRUTH!!
She's no easy grader, but she expects a lot from her students and that is a challenge that is really wonderful to meet; she's genuinely intelligent and a good person, too. I really respect her.
A genuinely intelligent woman who is capable of communicating knowledge and passion for learning efficiently. Not easy, pretty moody, and reads through bull like butter.
shes a great teacher who really knows what shes talking about. She isnt the easiest grader-but if u pay attention work hard youll be fine-lot better thansome of the other global teachers... boyle..
I'll start by acknowledging that she IS pretty evil. I had her for global two years in a row, and her class never got easier. She is a bit of a favorites-player, but there's a clear path to being a favorite--you pay attention in class and work hard from day one. My grades often felt too harsh. But you can't fault her for a lack of passion about her subject, and she's good enough of a teacher that it would be my fault if I had left her class not understanding world history. I would never take a class with he
good teacher, but i feel like some of the tests had stuff we never learned. sometimes goes off topic, but overall slightly monotone.
really mean and unclear teacher. makes fun of the students, and dosnt give anyone a bit of help even when they ask for it. exetremely unhelpful during he parent teacher confrences, and completly dodges all questions about grades. overall, she has made social studies not fun and harsh. i hate her
Stop spamming, haters! >_< Ms. Kudera is a fine teacher.
Worst teacher in the world and enjoys failing her students. I used to love social studies, but that has changed because of her. I would recommend firing her because she destroys the opinions of the students on a topic, states the only correct answer, and implies and hints to everyone that this student is stupid.
obviously knows her stuff but is a sucky teacher. For one, she has a short fuse, one mishap will start off a 3 minute rant. First struck me as an uptight teacher. EXTRA emphasis on manners. Be really polite. Interesting inclass discussions. Lousy and uncreative projects. Easy test giver
Although she seems incredibly difficult and scary, she's actually a great teacher once you get to know her. I learned a vast amount of information. You will DEFINITELY be losing hours of sleep for her class. And make sure she likes you. Other than that, she's wonderful.
I've learned more from her than from any other teacher. Just pay attention in class, take good notes, study for her crazily hard tests, and really spend some time on hw. And whatever you do, DO NOT get on her bad side. She is a viscous little lady with 6 feet of attitude.
shes really mean, tests are hard but she really knows her stuff. like.... looking back you realize how helpful she was. try not to get on her bad side, and try to do the hw everyday cause sometimes she checks it and sometimes she doesnt. oh and when she does lectures, record them with ur phone or something dont just write down whats on the board, because whatever you copy from the board will make no sense when you get home and because she sometimes goes fast and its hard wo write everything. GOOD LUCK.
SOOOOOO difficult and you hate her when you have her, but she is absolutely BRILLIANT.
Ms. Kudera is smart, and knows her stuff - you will learn a lot from her. However, she has her good days and bad days. On her good days, she will be very sweet and helpful, but stay on her good side on her bad days. One important thing is to always follow her directions, and if you don't understand them completely, ask her at a time when she is not busy. If you need something, set up an appointment as she is usually much more helpful if you take the time to do so.
She's a TOTAL curmudgeon, but she's brilliant. Tests are incredibly hard, and she grades homework assignments harshly. She's somewhat more lenient with bigger papers and projects. She's not a joker or a fun teacher, so it's totally on you to pay attention...but if you do, you will learn everything you need to and then some. (The departmental final in 9th grade was a total joke after her class.) Don't be afraid and SERIOUSLY don't act out, because she HATES that. You'll be fine.
Very nice person, but a tyrant at teaching. she expects you to do certain stuff, but then gets angry when you dont do it. She has huge mood swings which can make or ruin your day. she can also be incredibly intimidating
she's not too hard (not as hard as mr. joffe), but she isn't clear at all about what she wants. she can be really intimidating at times as well, and she doesn't like answering questions.
difficult teacher, but she can be kind of nice sometimes. she is a good teacher butttt she can also be mean and scary at times =( but if you have her its good because some other teachers are HORRIBLE
I kind of miss having her. She's incredibly smart and knows it. She is scary and mean at certain times though...
yea she's a pretty hard teacher but che can be funny sometimes! and she's a really helpful teacher too
She is the most boring and possibly one of the b!tchiest teachers at hunter. you go home and do irrelevant hw and never end up going over it and class and she never corrects so by testing time she expects you to know a boat load of crap. and dont get me started on those little passages she hands out in class, you have to read them and analyze them (every single one) so that in a test you know who said it, why they said, when they said it, where they said, etc. boring as ever good luck staying awake..
she was absolutely EVIL, but she was very smart and knew exactly what she was talking about.
She's actually not THAT bad...just a bit boring. She's a coffee addict and is sick often. Oh well, we learn some stuff.
She was SUCH a good teacher. She really knows her stuff, first of all, and knows how to work the class to get to the point she wants us to. She definitely picks favorites, but that doesn't stop her from trying to get the rest of the class to do well. Her lessons and assignments are well thought-out and VARIED, which is one of the most important things to me. Sure, the term paper's hard, but it's a term paper. Geez. Watch out for the mood swings though. They hit fast and hard.
here's the deal with kudera: she's quite a competent teacher. you'll learn a lot, guaranteed. of course she's really, REALLY hard, especially with tests. she grades papers/essays a lot easier than some people think. as a person, she's actually very nice but can snap at bad moments. the night before one of her tests or due dates is stressful. but honestly, if i've survived her class for two years, you can too. kudera is the archetypal "tough high school teacher that nobody appreciates because she's so hard."
she's unbelievably hard but also one of the best teachers in the school. i didnt get the best grades but i learned so much from her
This is ridiculous -- there is no question that ms kudera is one of the best teachers in this school, and that many students will ever have -- yeah of course she's tough, that's why its hunter. she teaches to the top and makes everyone a better student. however, she's fair -- you get out what you put in. ms kudera is an outstanding teacher.
She is nice and smiles alot, and her lessons are semi-interesting most of the time, but her tests, papers and essays are ridiculously hard. Just when you think you've done well, you get a B
she's jst so intimidating. for hw assignments/quizzes/tests there's only one answer for her and its no other answer. she assigns so much work and barely leaves time to study.
I think that we all know what she expects in us. Obviously, being the students, we have to respect how she teaches. I think that she is fair, although she can be a little tough now and then.
I had her last year. Whenever I think about the prospect of having her next year, I throw up a little in my mouth.
She isn't that bad as a teacher but you can't talk to her, if she doesnt agree with you she'll glare and blow you off. It just makes me upset because its hard to work when you can't show your opinion
Aw, come on, guys, she's not that bad! Well, she's difficult. And you never know when stuff is due.
its not fair years ago when i ad ms. kudera she gave us hours upon hours of homework... my little sibs say that she isnt giving hw or at least as much as we used to get...good luck, she is that scary
cannot lead class discussions, so her class is usually inhumanely boring
Over the year, I have learned many facts about civilizations. The outlines may be considered "hard", but I feel they prepare people for the future, where homework isn't just a coloring book. Her exams are infrequent and it is quite easy to do well in this class. To those used to getting away with doing little work and getting A's, this will be a huge realization process for you.
gives tons of hw (ugh notes), and i dont like glob stud neway but w/e. she just gave an insanely easy quiz today, so im happy.
Her class is SO hard; she gives out a lot of homework. You have to take notes on just about everything, and is a bit mean at times. She's helpful with research papers, though.
she's okay but compared to other global teachers she's not that great nor interesting
she can be nice sometimes, but she has a LOT of mood swings... she is also EXTREMELY demanding, and gives out HUGE workloads... her tests & hwk are mainly hard, but she'll occasionally let us have some fun... ive learned a lot from her, even if her classes are a bit boring
I've learned more in her class than any other history class in my life. Sure, she's mean, if you give her a hard time. She's excellent at teaching and really knows her stuff.
okay i agree on the sleepy and the work. i think she's nice and all...but her discussions are pretty much just my class repeating what they took notes on.
i guess shes ok, but i dont like her as a person. the fact that i dont particularly like global doesnt help, either
though she wasn't my favorite teacher when i had her, i look back at last year compared to this year and i would rather have her than the teacher i have now
Very good at leading class discussions and transmitting material. Good at stimulating interest in the subject. However, assigns work that is often frustrating
She was pretty boring and uninteresting during first term, but she seems to have been improving lately. She does give the evil eye, which is unnerving.
baaaa i hate that woman, she makes no sense, and what does she do with our tests/papers after we give them to her? does she take 2 months memorizing each, eats them, and then type each one up again?
She's kind of scary with that evil glare she gives us. Her class is boring but we're so scared that we pay attention. REALLY late in returning tests/papers.
she the coolest + nicest s.s. teacher ever; dunno why none of you like her
classes go rather slowly sometimes, but i think it's more of our fault. she often tries to make it more interesting, and i learn a lot in her class
