This teacher does not know how to communicate with students. He consistently ignores many students during class whom he simply does not feel like answering. He also does not explain material clearly, he vaguely described most things and I found I was horribly unprepared for the ap exam. He allowed zero discussion during class and his exams had nothing to do with the material that we needed for the ap exam. Avoid this teacher, you will only stress yourself out, lower your grade, and feel utterly
One of the best teachers I have ever had. His class is really chill but far from easy. He teaches very well and knows his stuff. I really do wish he would be more lenient and considerate when assigning grades, however, and not take off 20 points for a minor mistake on a lab, etc. His exams are a strange mix of no-brainer questions and impossible questions. He's pretty humorous though.
Avoid this teacher. He does not teach well. Does not prepare class for the topics on his exams. He grades in a strange manner. He takes off too many points for some kids on tests and labs. He makes some students feel uncomfortable for asking questions in class. He is condescending to students in class.
He knows a lot but has no idea how to pass it on. Based on the way he grades my lab reports, he is half-blind as he misses whole sections. Furthermore, his tests don't correlate with what he teaches us in class and contain problems that he didn't warn us about beforehand. Even beyond that, he explicitly told us that we wouldn't have to us de Broglie's equation to calculate the wave form of particles, but on the test, low and behold, there were waveform questions.
He's a great person, but isn't really understanding. one of the worst teachers i've met in Bronx Science. I have no clue why Bronx Science still decides to keep him as a teacher. I prayed that I wouldn't get Mr. Jacobs, but I did. :(
He knows chemistry, but he has no idea how to teach it. He'd be okay locked in a room with elements to experiment with.
Class gets more and more confusing by the day. We are falling behind. And he has problems using a computer and grading--mistakes are rampant. While he is pretty entertaining with his singing and total oblivion , it's not going to help for the AP exam.
He's really confusing in class and he behaves really strangely. But on the bright side, always willing to help, and really funny :)
Great class on catching up on yesterday night's sleep. Just read the textbook, not like he teaches anyway.
man can't teach chemistry for his life but he is very knowledgeable in the topic so he ain't stupid. if you can survive ap chem with him, you get great philosophy lessons at the end of the year...other than that, take ap bio or ap physics if you want real knowledge.
Doesn't really know much, and definitely doesn't know how to add points on labs or grade them in general, always a big problem, mostly left it alone cause I was to lazy to go looking for him in SGI, since he never sees you during his free periods.
he can't really teach, he gets really vague and brushes past the subjects. his tests are sometimes okay but his teaching habit is REALLY REALLY awful. guaranteed to suffer on the regents.
Awesome guy, okay teacher. He manufactures coffee outside of the teaching realm. Pretty cool stuff...
His tests have no relevance to what he discusses in class. His accent's not a major problem if you pay attention. Class is boring and makes students fall asleep. Good luck if you get him for Chem.
Barely learned in class, used a book. Good thing is he didnt care if I slacked in class cuz I did well on tests. My final grade was 15 points lower than it shouldve been
Mr. Jacobs cares very little about his students. He cannot teach chemistry and tests his students on topics we have yet to learn. If you have Jacobs, consider hiring a private tutor.
his accent makes everything impossible to understand. his grades are random. He's jut very weird
He knows the material well but does not know how to teach it.
Everyone says he's really bad and hard to understand. They're just put off by his accent. If you take the time to ask him a question after class, he'll explain it to you really clearly.
this is the first time i believe that i might even fail my regents because i dont even understand most of the chemistry material he taught us. JUST GREAT. a few more months and then the regents = 65%
he doesn't teach all that well, he gave a test on stuff he barely taught! But if I really try to listen through his accent, I can sort of figure out what he is saying...
He is really boring and has a thick accent. However, sometimes he can really teach alot. His tests are sometimes absurd because he teaches each class at a different rate and forgets what he teaches.
He doesn't know wat he is doing. I don't understand wat goes on in his class
He said he doesnt know why he is teaching and I dont know either.
Try not to get on his wrong side and you'll be fine. The good thing about his class is the really less HW. Tests are fine if you study the Chemistry textbook, the A+ book, and the review sheet. His notes are alright but his aims are ridiculous. He also loses labs so be careful. And the most dreadful thing is HE IS SO SLOW. Before the mid-year, finals, and the Regents, I was terrified because we hadn't covered it all. So definitely keep up with reading the A+ book. He is an OK teacher.
His class is actually fun to be in, making lots of fun jokes occasionally. if you do all the work and DO NOT EVER CHEW GUM. However, he tends to move a bit slowly, so you may find yourself behind the other classes. The A+ book helps a lot.
hes so boring and my class barely learns anything from him
I really dont understand anything that comes out of his mouth. I'm not tryin to be mean but his accent is really hard to understand
wow he manages to put me to sleep every day. don't bother with the work if you sit in the back because if he checks it you can copy it off the board before he gets to you.
i dont know how much chem i actually learned but he was soo funny, and sometimes after we'd finished going over something he'd say "easy, breezey, cheesey, japanesey"
He is a nice teacher. Remember to do your work. HE DOES HAVE A JAMAICAN ACCENT, but you will get used to it. He stoped telling "joke" because some one told their parents about a joke he said and the student took it the rong way. He will confuse you sometimes. If you ask him, he will help you.
A great singer, i must admit- i hope everyone enjoys his christmas carols during the holidays. As long as you participate in class, and do your work he'll like you and you'll get a good grade. But don't expect a grade on the regents just based on his teachings, use the A+ Chem book!
i dont know why everyone keeps saying he's a bad teahcer. he does teach and he makes thinks funny. just read your chem review book and you'll do well
i have him now & its just really annoying to b in his class cuz i learn nuthing so its a waste of my time. i get everything from the book, its sad but i must admit, he can sing lol
He's the worst chem teacher in the school. Man nearly sent most of his students to summer school. Scared the living day lights out of me...I ended up with an 85 in the class, but still.
He tries to be funny all the time, but his jokes don't make sense, and he doesn't want to answer any questions.
hes a really cool person and funny but a bit unclear when he teaches and a tough grader. if you pay attention you find that you do learn. i got an 87 on the reg
dang 1 of the worst teachers EVER!!! u dont learn nethin. if u have him transfer out now im serious transfer out.
BO-RING. i dont think there was a single day when i didnt sleep in his class.
He is a ok teacher, easy quizes and funny jokes, especially NEIL BOHR
Mr. Jacobs didn't teach anything in Chemistry. He spent 2 months on moles. I barely passed the regents. I had to pinch myself to not fall asleep.
boring, monotonus and hes an odd guy.he makes jokes that are half funny but not the best teacher.we try to do a wave around the room half the class behind him
He's nice - if he doesn't catch you cutting or talking! Pay attention to his review sheets! You'll see why =D Hand in labs+show hw+ok(85+)test grades=88+
Mr. Jacobs is a fair guy,if you do the homework. Tests are kinda hard though since he puts topics on the test he's never taught in class for more than a day.
he doesn't teach very well, enjoys torturing students and lost my labs as well...and he left me with no knowledge of chemistry whatsoever.
One of the funniest teachers. If you just raise your hand a bit he'll give u a decent grade.
Barely teaches us, I don't learn anything and I copy all the notes he gives.
Not the worst teacher in the school. Hes a harsh grader on ritten work but if you can pay attention (I know its hard) hes really not so bad. Read the text!
Speaking of horrible teachers... this man lost all my labs, and then blamed it on me! Not very put-together at all, and once you're on his bad side, no matter what you do, it's wrong. And please teach him english!!
i loved his class. it was so fun. we used to make fun of him and we even watched the movie about the jamaican bobsled team. the only bad thing is that i didn't learn anything
cant understand what he is saying b/c of his deep voice.
He's cool. We all know he smokes the ganja. But when it comes to teaching...one word...nightmare.
well, where should i begin? the man hates me and i do no wrong. how can one help falling alseep in his class. aim: why do the balloon inflate? uhm hmm i don't think we need to have that as an aim for an entire week.
His jokes make no sense, I can never really understand what he is saying, but still he's great. Get on his good side and you'll be set.
he's very funni but his lectures can be boring sometimes. still a decent teacher.
Very Fair, serious, great teacher, knows his stuff, can be real funny
