At first he'll seem old-fashioned and boring, but I swear he's not. Good sense of humour, really tries to help each and every one of his students, reasonable amount of extra credit through questions of the day, and to the best of my knowledge the best teacher for motivating seniors to do well via his inter-class competition. Doesn't assign busywork thank god, because the homework he does assign is quite helpful. His handwriting is awful though so his lectures aren't completely clear.
Mr. Aposhian seems boring and dull at first, but his character and humor is so much unlike the other teachers at Torrey Pines that it's refreshing. He even allows you to take notes on your laptop, which was an amazing benefit for an organized person like me. One of my favorite teachers, and totally prepared me to ace the AP Econ exam. Just don't sit far away or next to the fan, or you won't be able to hear him.
Pros- Answers all questions, easygoing, knowledgeable
Cons- super quiet voice, absolutely atrocious "handwriting"
Tip- Make sure to read the book (in order to do well on the tests) since he only covers the most important/hard materials in class and leaves the vocab to the students. But overall, I loved AP econ and his teaching style.
Great teacher, learned a lot more in AP econ than in my college econ class.
Easily irate and his handwriting is horrible and difficult to decipher. Notes are also messy and unorganized and he is pretty boring. Tests aren't easy or hard.
He really wants you to learn in his class. Second semester can be hard since most people are skipping. If you skip this class often, he might fail you and keep you from graduating. Econ is defiantly not an easy subject for most people unless you have taken the subject before. Also, when he is teaching, he assumes you know some stuff when it has yet to be covered.
Most of the stupid kids in my class think he's boring, but I find him to be a really nice and reasonable guy. His gov. class may not be interesting to those who hate current events and politics, but the class, to me at least, is interesting because you actually get to discuss things going on in the world and your opinions about them. Politically he doesn't share his opinions but from what I've heard, he is a really fair
A prime example of "those who can't, teach." He's been teaching the same course for over twenty years, and consequently his teaching styles and personality are extremely antiquated, unhelpful and quite frankly irritating. Honestly, I'd rather watch paint dry than be in class. AP Econ isn't worth it; take regular because it's a joke and you won't have to deal with him.
His class could be hard--if you didn't keep up with the reading 100%. But otherwise, it wasn't too bad, and he's generally very helpful and pretty nice. He's been teaching the same class for 20 years so you do get that feeling that he gets a little robotic/monotone--but overall, he's a great teacher!
Mr. Aposhian was a very helpful and caring teacher. He really wants his students to learn and will often help them at lunch or after school. Great guy!
even though he has a monotone voice, his lectures are actually pretty interesting and he's overall chill.
aposhian is super super nice. i like econ, so i loved his class. made my college econ sooo much easier. if you are not interested in econ, i can see that some of his lectures might be boring, but he is a good teacher and its hard to make beginning econ interesting.
kinda boring class. pretty hard too. tests are hard but hes a nice guy and really does want you to learn
Speaking as a formar student, he is an outstanding teacher and his classes have had a positive influence on many people's lives.
He's cool and he really helps you out if you ask him for help. His writing is kinda messy but its not really a problem. He also explains things well but u really have to know whats going on if you want to do well
Not a nice guy whatsoever. He is not only boring but is completely mean to nice, quiet kids in the class. He cannot read his hand writing which makes his lessons take even longer than they are supposed to. I am so glad it is only a semester class.
Mr. Aposhian awesome. He's really nice and always willing to help anyone who doesnt understand the material. If you're confused about anything, just ask. Read the book, do hw and you'll pass the AP
Nice guy. Sometimes pretty boring. Not the greatest teacher, but he's pretty cool.
has some interesting things to say...but i just dont like the guy. good in teaching the subject and bad at preparing you for test and projects.
One of those teachers that makes you really uncomfortable. You walk in with a good attitude and by the end of his class you feel like crap. He is mean in a very sly way, especially to people who know what they're talking about. I've gotten the impression he likes people that just take him for his word and not those who are intelligent enough to point out the flaws in his argument.
SUCH a good teacher, and a really nice guy. Just do the study guides and the tests will be cake.
His lectures; although on occasion boring, are worth paying attention to. You can get away with not opening up the book if you just listen. He is not always the most lenient on make-up work which can be a pain. I think that he prepares you moderatly well for the AP test, but some things that he focuses on are not even on the test which I think is a waste of time that could be spent on things that ARE on the test.
funny guy, cool class, what more can u ask 4 in senior year? greenstein?
Cool teacher, but class is pretty boring. Recommend just reading the book, then the tests are really easy.
Cool people. Cool teacher. Cool class overall, and it was a factor that led me to choose econ for my major in college.
Explained everything well, which made material easier. Very nice guy.
Great teacher and funniest teacher. Great having him. Ask for Aposian next year, you juniors out there.
Best class at Torrey because it relates to the real world.
Aposhian loves his subject and students and does everything he can to help. great sense of humor! i looked forward to class everyday!
I had Aposhian many years ago...he's a great teacher and I probably wouldn't have gotten a 5 on the AP test without him.
He's awesome. He really cares about the subject he teaches and wants his students to do well. He will do anything to help you understand the subject.
One of the few real teachers I had senior year. Great guy.
I liked Mr Aposhian. When I was struggling he helped me through it all. He loved what he was teaching also.
He was a great guy, and I think he loved what he was teaching.
Mr. Aposhian is a very good teacher who's knowledgeable in his field and just an overall nice-guy.
Mr. Aposhian really wants us to learn more about the world around us. He is passionate about what he does, and his subtle wit makes each class session a joy.
Good econ teacher but sometimes I wonder whether or not he is passionate about the subject
i had him years ago at tp. he was pretty good and knew what he was talking about. but i always wondered if he really kept up with the wsj.
