I had Mr. Camp a couple of years back when I was a student at New Trier. He was, and is, one of the most brilliant people I know. More than your average math teacher, Mr. Camp found the most interesting and challenging applications of math. I still remember a unit on Fractals, the "universe's mathematics." While he wasn't the most traditional teacher (and he was very difficult at times), I loved Mr. Camp and his complex math. Go Ukelele!
Had him for NT math geometry.
Did some things that are fundamentaly wrong to do as a teacher
doc's class was fun- he sang songs and played his ukelele every friday and amphibianes and sogrates taught the hard lessons. all year the quizzes were ridiculously hard and second semester he basically stopped teaching us and would have us work in groups and wouldn't help. if you put in a lot of effort and go in to his office a lot (he won't help you but you can look at the solution book) he sees that and will make your grade work out in the end somehow.
Just a genuinely good guy. Comes across as a bit distant sometimes, but is one of the only teachers at New Trier who, deep down, has his students' true interests at heart. Exceptionally bright and surprisingly organized. That said, he's not always great at articulating how to approach problems clearly, and you often have to learn to do problems more by example and reproduction of his work than by truly understanding what's going on, but the same can be said for most all math teachers--they can't cater to ev
I can see why these ratings a varied. Doc teaches a very hard class, but is very passionate about and teaches the class very well. He also goes out of his way to do nice things for students, like bring in pineapples after tests. Work hard in the class and you will be rewarded exponentially. Awesome teacher.
Uses very bizarre "teaching" tools such as puppets and songs, sometimes makes you feel like a 5 yr old. Tests are average hardness but no surprises ever. Good to come in for help, but extremely cold personality. Sometimes has you wondering if he's a robot. To many, he makes math fun and teaches with his own twist.
A great grasp of the material and good teaching ability to suit. I would suggest going in for office hours if your a bit lost, but be warned that his attitude isn't as amicable as it is in class.
his quizes are difficult but his class if fun, kermit the frog is my new bff
love his songs, but test are hard. usually gives you 2 percent extra at the end of each semster. he is better than ms. linsenmier
A bit too indirect at times, but generally will clarify, especially if you ask. Can't argue with the poetry, singing, and frog, though.
I was in his Calc BC class. He tries to make math fun with songs, scripts, and pineapple. He seems to like teaching. I had no ?s about the math, so the class became routine. HW-quiz-hw-test-hw, but thats the BC train for you.
his class is hard but he does teach you everything you need to know for his tests and quizzes. he's very patient and you can tell he cares abouth is students. plus he's funny.
class is hard, but camp is one of the smartest people I've ever met
he is an awsome guy, and an awsome teacher. his class is hard, but fun and fair. He is a little distant when you go into see him, but you have to make him help.
Doc's classes are hard. I had him for both pre calc and BC. Sometimes he's distant, like when you go in for help, but helps you when you want it. He's really funny. Doc = the best!
Doc rocks my world! I love his math poetry--google him and you'll see. He's hilarious. It's a tough class, but he's fair and his grading system is really, really good. Best math teacher I've ever had.
I think he's a cool guy, but sometimes has some attitude problems. However, it's awsome when he brings in he brings in his instruments to sing for us.
don't worry if you are doing badly, he adjusts the grades at the end of the semester anyway! Enjoy class!
Not easy, but nice! Who else sings with Kermit in class?
Funny, nice guy. But if when it comes to precalc or calc it's kind of helpful if the teacher actually explains stuff
Fine as a teacher, although is a bit distant in class except for when he sings.
I gotta say that Doc is pretty cool, and while his class isn't easy and can be pretty stressful, it ends up working out.
