Very passionate young man. He can be intimidating, but once you get to know him, you will find that he is very sweet. He wants his students to succeed, and is even willing to put in extra time to tutor them. Only those who slack off dislike him.
Mr. Guralnick is an extremely smart teacher with extensive knowledge and care for literature. Being in his class has made me push myself a lot to succeed. That being said, he can be extremely intimidating and mean. You must work very hard to succeed.
He made me feel awful the whole time being in his class. If you don't meet his idea of a perfect student he will make you feel like a failure of a student. It's sad because he's a smart man. A smart man with the most horrible teaching ways.
MR. GURALNICK -- OR SHOULD I SAY GURALDICK…HUGEST A§§HOLE IN BEACON. GOING TO HIS CLASS EVERYDAY IS AN HOUR IN HELL. IF YOU GET THIS TEACHER, I RECOMMEND TRANSFERRING IMMEDIATELY. YOU WILL LEARN NOTHING BESIDES THE WEIRD WAY HE READS IN CLASS.
People who like him have clearly been tricked by his cunning nature into thinking that they're getting a "challenging" learning experience. It's true that he's a hard teacher, but not because of the material--it's because he's so f***ing hard to work around. His reading quizzes aren't even graded properly. If you get some answers correct, he'll still give you a zero based on his assumption on if you did the reading or not. He's also a sadistic dictator, who constantly uses intimidation tactics.
At first, I was really intimidated by Mr. Guralnick because I had heard many things about how he is a really tough teacher. As I got to know him and became acquainted with his class, I really enjoyed it. He is incredibly passionate and knowledgable in the field and is really great at helping his students succeed. I started with a 71 on my first essay and that average has since increased by 10 percentage points and my teacher didn't forget to applaud me on it. He's great and worth the work!
In the beginning he may seem kind of mean and like he doesn't care but he really does, that's just his way. He knows so much about literature and has a really good outlook on a lot of things. If you talk to him outside of class he's actually very sweet and funny. If you get into his class, you're very lucky so be prepared to learn a lot.
best teacha evaaaa!!!! His class was the best english class I've ever taken and he knew so much about the text! It was never boring either.
He is amazing and very smart. He can be very overbearing sometimes, but that is only because he wants you to succeed. Slackers, people who routinely come to class high, kids who don't care about education, and people really not trying often hate the class because Guralnick expects more from you than average teachers do. He is wonderful, attractive, and insightful. His only downfall is that he doesn't get very personal if you don't initiate conversations after/before class so he can seem distant.
