I had Sig in Guitar, and he seemed really interested in hearing what other people like for music, but he didn't give us much of an opportunity to choose what our solo performances would be. You are forced to perform in front of the class by yourself, which was a problem for some people. There was a kid in my class who knew more about guitar than Sig, and Sig flipped out at him all the time. He has some anger issues and doesn't really know what to do when people act out.
His personality is fake, and it shows. He acts like a child onstage and many of us in Superlatives tolerate him only because we love singing. He's not a very good singer, but he does make us try to be better.
Definitely has a temper, definitely comes across as somewhat "fake" personality-wise. That said, he is passionate about music and if you try, he WILL make you a good singer and performer. Repertoire in Superlatives is great.
He's really passionate about music...sometimes overzealous. At times he forgets students have other priorities...
He takes music too seriously & doesn't respect students that have other priorities besides music. He made my Superlatives experience awful and tried to teach life lessons- "first come first serve" that not everyone abides by.. He has a fake personality & I have no regrets for not taking the class. He embarrasses the group when we're on stage with his juvenile demeanor too. After 5 years, I'm DONE!
For someone who WAS in Superlatives the three years before he came in and went to chorus my senior year so that i didn't have to work with Dan, I can honestly say that Superlatives is, finally, the ELITE group it should be. This is due to Dan's incredible passion and dedication for the music. Dan is/was a great teacher and cares A LOT for his students. If music isn't your thing, don't join. -WLC
Siggy, u r so cool! u r so upbeat and know how to make singing fun! full marks!
he is also a good guy... bad teacher really bad teacher. i do not like him and i think he doesnt like me. heaven forbid that i hold something else higher than music
He's really bad at hiding his feelings, so when he's acting friendly, everyone can tell what he's thinking. He can still be a good teacher, he just has a bit of a temper. Sometimes the line between teacher and student is difficult to see with him.
sig is awesome he has the same incredible passion for music that i do, which is really great hes helped me in so many ways i cant even express my gratitude!
Siggy is one of my favorite teachers he has helped me learn alot
great guy, oh man, always knows what to say, but sometimes, he expects something that we just don't see...but still a great guy
By far my favorite teacher. He's just plain cool, and he loves music. Bit of a temper problem, but hey, who doesnt have their flaws
I don't know him that well, and I don't have him for an actual class, but he is an excellent choral director.. .from what I've seen...
He pushes us hard, but he's fun and knows a lot about singing. I'm anxious to see what the choral dept. will become in a few years.
