He is the reason I am a Physics teacher now. He loves teaching and physics and it shows. He was the teacher that made everything click for me.
Maybe all you older alumni are mad because he was a good teacher back in the day. I had him last year, and it was a struggle for me to not fall asleep everyday. And I'm no slacker; I'm a National Merit Scholar and studying to be an engineer now. He's a nice guy, but he needs to realize that he needs to just teach the material and not get WAY off topic with personal stories of minimal relevance. I think he's just ready to retire, or maybe teach younger kids instead of high school physics.
I knew Mr. H all through high-school. I've since moved on to earn a pair of engineering degrees, and I can confirm that he is one of the most passionate and dedicated educators you will meet.
I had Mr Herlinger's class twenty years ago. That so many people rate him lowly tells me how few care about science. He was clear and the experiments grabbed one's attention. Sad state we're in today.
if you have ADD, get OUT of his class.. he is NEVERRR on task at allll
I agree that he knows ALOT about Physics, but he CANT teach. He NEVER gets to everything in class, and doesnt explain the hardest of the HMW problems. I wish i had Mrs.Christen. ; (
He means well, but he didn't really know how to teach without getting off topic... there were times when almost everyone in the class was completely lost and confused when test day arrived.
I enjoyed his class. I have since graduated and find what he taught me applicable to my courses. He really cares about teaching and that I understand the material... his stories keep me interested.
makes no sense half the time, its easier to learn by guessing and figuring it out on your own, but he gives u the basics, so that helps, but its still not enuf to figure out the HW, he has to explain
I learned enough about physics in his class to test out of 2 semesters worth in college. Everyone says "I didn't learn anything" but I think they just repeat the party line.
Very smart, often goes off topic, but his stories are always interesting. He knows pretty much everything, it is hard to pay attention sometimes, and he is boring, but you do learn alot.
I dont know what everyone has against Mr. H, he is the best teacher I have had every, period, end of story. Hes not out to get you, honest!
Mr. Herlinger spent more time lecturing us on morals and values than he did teaching us physics.
cool teacher. wakes you up when you're sleeping in class by jumping on the tables. talked more about his love for trains and motorcycle instructing than teachin
He's a pretty good teacher once you get used to him and he can occassionaly make physics fun, but not always.
I actually like this teacher, because I can handle him, and his tests ^_^ I like his zany antics and other crazy stuff, but he can be a little boring.
