He plays favorites and has poor communication skills. When the students don't know anything, he blames it on us, instead of him. He makes people laugh by making fun of students. Please tell me that's not bullying. He was the reason why I quit band.
Good teacher if you respect him. Only willing to help if you ask though.
Really has the kids' best interests at heart. When you get along, he's a great teacher. When you don't, he can make it hard to communicate.
Easy to love him as a teacher when you respect each other, otherwise he makes it very difficult to communicate and figure things out.
biased, not terribly effective, fairly popular with band kids anyway
He's a very talented conductor, but a lot of people are scared of him.
Reading the ratings given here, I wonder if I had Mr. Kim when he was somehow better? But I thought the world of him when he taught at Chief Sealth, he literally changed my life. Yes he pushed and pushed and pushed and in retrospect, that was the best part. Our band was not terribly good, but it was the best it could be, and not for a lack of blood, sweat and tears on his part. The man exudes effort. It was a very emotional day when he told us he was going to Interlake, he cried, and so did many of us.
talks too much, but easy to get help from [for me at least]
Unless you intend to be a music major in college and love doing favors every 30 seconds and practicing an hour every day, you'll slowly begin to hate Mr. Kim.
a huge hypocrite, maybe a hypocritimus. his lectures about band unity never make sense and only instills hostility towards him because our hard work was in vain
