Great teacher, taught me amazing grammar and also taught be a lot about life in general! One of the best teachers I've ever had.
Very easy class, but he favors students. Beware, and get on his good side! He also invents stuff about themes + stuff... like you have to agree with him if you wanna do well.
Mr Polster has changed my life for the better. He was my home base since freshman year and it was really cool to grow up in his classroom.Taking his honer's English class my junior year was such a god time. I fell in love with novels, poetry, and music whilst I perched atop a desk. Senior year I took creative writing and with his guidance I discovered a love and talent for words. His classes are full of laughter, music, art, nature hikes, and learning. I'm going to miss my perch when I graduate.
The easiest and best English class you can take. When the weather gets nice, we go outside a few time a week and "absorb the nature around us"(or just play on our phones). Sparknotes and wikipedia will have you covered for 98% of the tests and quizzes. "Class discussions" are really just lectures, and he's not that great about handling interpretations that disagree with his, but he tries to act like he's okay with those ideas. BEWARE - never say anything bad about Holden Caulfield.
The easiest class I've ever taken. This is 10 times easier than 10 cp was. He just talks, and if you repeat what he says on the tests and essays, you get A+ grades.
Polster is the best teacher ever, he is one of the teachers who are down to earth and you can talk to him about your life.
I signed up for AP and switched to Honors because the summer work. Because, OMG, did you see the summer homework? The CP classes have more summer work than Honors did. I like Mr. Polster, and the nature walks, and music, but I missed having real class discussions. Our discussions in honors were just the normal kind of English discussions. I'm not sure I would have rather have been in AP because of the work, but maybe. I missed caring and being excited about class like I was sophomore year.
More literature and less politics please. There is nothing wrong with discussing political issues. As the other posters said, he takes things very personally and will ostracize you if you don't agree with him. He can be confusing and not clear or constructive when grading papers. I like listening to music but I'm not sure I'm learning much in his class. Overall, he doesn't seem like a bad guy except when he is picking on you.
After a year of Turakhia, this class feels like being in kindergarten. It is super easy. I'm not sure how anybody found it life-changing. Our discussions are more or less lectures, and Polster seems to take everything really personally, especially if you disagree with him. All the tests and quizzes are the same ones he's always given (my brother had him 7 years ago and it's all the same stuff). We don't do much that's challenging.
Class is super easy. You can sparknote everything. For essays, all you have to do is repeat what he tells you and use words he likes (patriarchy, binaries, paradigm, mores). If you try to come up with something new or have different ideas than he does, you won't do well, so don't bother. He hates Mondays, so sometimes you do nothing on those days, just listen to music. Nice guy with some good stories.
I took 2 of Mr. Polster's classes, and he changed my life. His lectures are mind blowing, the works he selects are enlightening, and he really makes his students think critically and dig deep. Great guy, and helped my writing improve dramatically. I will always remember him as my favorite high school teacher.
best teacher of all time, i reccomend that u take his class, try and request him, ull have the best time of ur life
The best English teacher I have ever had. I hope he gets hired!!
