MR.SCHMITTGENS WAS THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER (and possibly even the best teacher) I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I had him 3 years ago and I still think of him when I see someone wearing khaki pants and a polo. He made my year amazing, totally advanced and helped mature my writing, and inspired me in ways beyond my imagination. I miss him so much and I wish I could be adopted into his family!!! : P
One of the best teachers I've ever had. "Schmitty," as students lovingly call him, makes class fun but also challenges students to think for themselves. Easily, one of the top teachers I've ever had.
he is an amazing teacher. i just switched into his class from a lower level and he makes the class so much more interesting. he does more than teaching the text, he relates it to real life.
Never have i ever had a teacher more passionate in what he does, the man is an amazing teacher, he singles people out if he feels they are wasting time, be interested and hes amazing
singles out and makes fun of kids in class and can't teach a darned thing
I had him back to back at Ignatius in 99 & 00. I became an English major because of him and got a Masters in English because of him. He's one of those "influential high school teachers" everyone's always talking about.
Had him for Chicago Authors at St. Ignatius in 2001. Good overall teacher, though sometimes it's hard to tell if he's in a good mood or not. Also, don't get on his bad side, and don't blow off any of his assignments. Other than that he makes class material interesting.
Hes quite a character with many quirks. He lectures more then he teaches, which can help u learn what the material was better then actully reading it
interesting teacher, highly bipolar though. had a love-hate relationship with him.
Schmittgens has opened my eyes to the great literary works of recent times! he posesses a vast intellect, and you deserve to feel the wrath of his wit!
Sometimes nice, sometimes SEVERELY ANGERED! I honestly think he must be bipolar. The grade you get all depends on his mood...
I Really don't like this class!!! Its way to hard to do everything he wants you to and he's really mean to specific people in the class!he makes fun of u right in front of everyone
He gives us these big assignments ahead of time and then goes into the specifics the day before it is due so I always have to go back and re-write what I did.
Hilarious, but small case of bipolar. If you do anything wrong he might make fun of you in front of the class. But his jokes relieve tension.
Mr. Schmittgens is my craziest teacher this year (but in a good way). He always has little side stories that relate to the curriculum (sometimes :P). He teaches lvl 4 b/c hes hard
he's nice in class, but then gives you TONS of homework! also, he'sc way too tough a grader.
Most fun class of the day! Really nice teacher and funny, and easily distracted from teaching! "Nay nay little grasshoppers"
BEST TEACHER EVER! So funny, made me a 4 level writer in one year from 3 level. Such a funny guy its amazing. Yea jargin flargins!
sometimes he's nice, but then he completely loses his temper for no reason. he's also a REALLY harsh grader.
Schmitty! English isnt the same without you! He's an AWESOME teacher--soo funny. 9th period 2002/2003 was great!!!
schmitty! great great class- 6th period is awesome one day the beat boxing will hit abercrombie-ive actually learned how to write with you as a teacher
English this year is not the same!! I miss you so much!
Mr Schmittgens is *so* cool! Not only did he teach me how to write but he also made class fun by going off on all those tangents. Yeah 4th period!
Mr Schmittgens is easily my favorite teacher at NT! I love his discussions, and i have learned so much in his class! SNOWGLOBES!!!! Love ya, 7th period!
His class is by far and away my favorite. While being informative, Schmittgens also gets off on 500 tangents ranging from his daughter to tombstone pizza.
omg this man is so funny. our class has so much fun! best teacher ever!!
He is insane. He does not make any sense. I recorded the conversations we had in one class and he went from feet to home alone to indiana to his daughter.
