Mr. Theriault is an AWESOME teacher. One of the best ones I've encountered at FVHS. I've had him for two years in a row, but his constant effort to go beyond the accepted norms of the traditional teaching style amazes me. Don't listen to the others that complain nonstop about his class ;) (Got a 5 on the AP Lang exam thanks to his class!)
I feel sad seeing all of these negative reviews. He's a great teacher with a refreshing attitude who has a different view than most towards teaching. I only recommend that he improves on his grading. I've noticed that on some assignments, the mean is x, the high is x, and the low is x. Everyone gets the same grade. It also seems like he's reluctant to give full credit. He should just set up a rubric for each assignment and grade on that. Eg based on grammar, length, quality, etc. Awesome class.
mr THerio is a teacher being good at what he teeches. he tauht mi everting about gramer nd spelling, trus me he is god @ my Teehers at teching. i relly woud reammend him to being ur techer for the nxt yeer. pls choos me to reammend him four being ur teeher. xoxoxo <3 <3 mr therio
You don't even learn in that class. He rarely gives exams but when he does, they are seriously the hardest things ever. Thanks for the failing grade
Mr. Theriault is a great teacher.
I'm sad some people don't agree. Yes, he has a different technique to teaching..and maybe some people aren't compatible to his style. But I loved it. Loved that he had activities/projects that forced students to apply their creativity and communication skills.
What students should think about is--have you noticed NO ONE sleeps in his class? That's because he adds flavor and purpose to his lectures. They're funny, interesting--all that makes a class memorable
I am not sure if you should even consider him as a teacher. If you are on his good side, you'll be fine. He chooses favorites very explicitly and you basically get an automatic A if you're a favorite of his. He will forget who has already presented a project, and if he forgets you, basically you didn't even have to do the project.
Mr. Theriault reminds me a lot of the city of Portland, Oregon because he's kind of weird and maybe kind of cool, but generally super chill--not that I've ever been to Portland or anything like that... However, similarly to Portland, opinions vary.
I hated Mr. Theriault in the beginning. However, throughout the year, i learned to love him. Yes, he does nothing in class but he inspired me to turn my life around and focus on the main goal, my future. His class is NOT an easy A though!
If you want an easy A go for this class. If you want to actually learn something other than the tricks and techniques to writing a blog then don't. Theriault plays favorites (and states it outright). If you aren't part of his top 10 or so he doesn't even bother remembering your name. He tries extremely hard to be "cool" and "hip" by talking about local hot spots and his past love life, but you can imagine how awkward that gets.
The worst teach I have ever had. I assumed his so call "English Honors" class, after all the hype and praise I heard from other students, would actually challenge me and help me develop my writing and reading skills, but instead I was forced to sit in a class for an hour each day listening to this snob gloat over himself. If you want to learn, I suggest transferring to Ms. Hollingsworth, she will truly help you success. This snob will do nothing for you except gloat over his tenure.
I really love Theriault as my English teacher. He's helpful, funny, and is extremely knowledgeable. He forgets things once in a while, and he sometimes get off-topic (even though it is an interesting topic). However, he's REALLY COOL and you should be lucky to have him.
Oh, and no lessons on grammar. If you want that then pick up a grammar book.
Mr. Theriault was literally one of the best teachers I have ever had. He plays favorites but that's okay because he was reasonable about it. If you tried hard in his class, respected other people, and worked well with your classmates then there is a good chance that you will get an A or B. I looked forward to his class everyday and I hope I can get him again for senior year.
I have to say that Mr. Theriault will forever be one of my most favorite teachers. Though his class may be hard at times, he never expects the impossible and will always be there to help you if you ask for it. To students going into his class, some suggestions: take notes on ALL books you read, study hard (his tests are anything but easy), be kind (to your peers), and bring food. He LOVES food.
To Mr. Theriault (because I know you are going to read this): I hope I get you again senior year!
He was the worst teacher I've ever had. He doesn't even teach. He just assigns reading then tells you that there will be a test two weeks later. He is a very nice guy and he makes the class very fun, but that's not what school is for. School is about learning. I think that Theriault spends too much time being our friend and forgets that he's supposed to be our teacher.
Note: Never tells you your grade. Plays favorites.
Easy, but trust me, you will NEVER know your grade, and you rarely see your test grade. He's all right.
He expects you to do things on your own because it's a skill needed for college. He's always there to help though. Super duper chill teacher, talks about life lessons that I love hearing.Great teacher
nice guy, horrible teacher, taught us nothing so far. he will round favorites from an f -> c if he really likes you. has these ridiculous tests/quizzes and yells at us when we all fail because he thin
I had him for English Honors 1 freshman year. Cool guy, bad teacher. Lost all of our assignments and no one ever knew their grades. He does have favorites, I was lucky to be one of them (he gives out
this has to be the smarted person i have ever met. he seriously knows EVERYTHING. he is a very very very very smart and educated high class person
He's a fun teacher, but he teaches more about life than he teaches English. His tests/quizes are $#*
Profoundly difficult tests, but incredibly chill and awesome. He'll be one of, if not the, most favorite English teacher you'll have.
HE IS THE BEST BCUZ HE STRING DONUT ON STRINGS N WE HAD 2 EET THEM HE ALSO. TEACHS GRAMMER
The first day in class he yelled " I hate the BEACH!!!!". I knew this class was going to be fun.
he is a very nice and down to earth teacher. his tests are brutal, they ask detailed questions that are very specific and unimportant
funniest teacher ive ever had. makes class worth going to
BESTTT TEACHER ID EVER HADDD. And for favorites i never saw any.
Great handouts for the AP test. Tells you how to succeed in college. He doesn't tolerate kids who are lazy or play games.
So funny. His tests are SO hard, but everything else is super easy. He doesn't really give out homework or projects. He's a great guy.
If you like surprises, he's the teacher for you. You'll never know what to expect.
he is muuuuy buenoo. prob the FUNNIEST teacher i've had! :D
very lazy, blamed his laziness on the WASC Report he had to do. taught us nothing for the whole yr. the only thing we ever did was listen to him talk or sit and do nothing while he was never in clas
I've seen him be nice to everyone- giving out food, cheering someone up or just seeing if they're ok. Favorites? Seriously- he seems to like everyone. Maybe he gave you a grade you didn't like...
I love Mr.T I always looked forward to that class he is amazing!!! You can tell he loves what he does. He is completely hilarious, without him I would have graduated sane..haha!
Mr. T is awesome, he's hilarious and you learn a lot about life in that class. The only drawback is that he has favorites and you can easily tell who is.
Sure...all the s love him and he tells a lot of jokes, he is by far the worst english teacher I have ever had. He is pretty funny, sometimes....however the class humors him a little bit too much.
He teaches you some of the most valuable lessons you can learn about life. His english classes aren't the kind where you forget everything you learned by the end of summer--you'll take them with you.
I don't know if he's mortal.....He's awesome...funny....but really bad at fantasy basketball....He's also really easy....if you catch my drift
Mr. T was a cool teacher even though I only had him for half the year because of a student teacher. He had really good life stories and made the class fun.
stinks that he saved all his good jokes for cp. still a cool guy and if you have his AP class, DO ALL YOUR HOMEWORK BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT
really cool teacher! i loved all his stories!! freaking hilarious. he teaches you a lot too in weird ways but its cool and entertaining!
I had Mr. T the first year he was teaching at FV (99-00) He is the best teacher I've ever had. His class isn't all that challenging, but its fun!
Good teacher, a little odd though. Students have to have their names for the forums, but he makes accounts like "ipwnnoobs" and such and lets them through. Kooky.
you'd be surprised his head didn't sort of pop off his neck with all that information in there =)
ok this guy is on my top-3-favorite teachers of all time! I had him for "Cool English" junior year (2004). He's very open-minded, laidback, and you learn a lot if you just listen
mr T respects your point of view and is very open minded. loved the quotes he gave us, plus the extra credit questions. interesting advice he gives us.
Good teacher. Teaches you English and life. Don't be afraid the first few days of AP English. It's all a test. Read when you need to because there are quizzes.
Theriault is the best teacher ever! His class is awesome! He actually teaches you things that will matter after highschool like good life lessons! He is AWESOME
mr t is awesome!!! its my favorite class right now. me gusta mucho.
He is a hard teacher but his AP 3 class was my favorite class next to Kitrell's.
i had [email protected] he was the reason i went to film school at NYU. needless to say, i became a political junkie but mr.T&mr.nguyen are still my favs of all time
He's a cool guy, but as a teacher, he isn't all that great. Your GPA will DROP if you take his AP English class.
interesting class, different, innovative, and exciting. sometime you even forget that it's a class.
Mr. T is a very nice teacher and he does and says the weirdest things and stuff but I think he is really nice to my class, maybe it is because he just had lunch
Theriaults AWESOME!!!!!! His class is honestly the best one I have ever had.
Mr. T's so caring and xciting not to mention his extremely awesome and useful..life lessons.
best teacher i ever had! he teaches you about life as well as english! :)
someone who i would trust to rule the world. muhahaha.
its hard class but you get a lot from it, T is cool except some rare days
Hard class, but you get over it, because no matter what, class in enjoyable and fun - except the first few - and you actually learn. It's what school should be all about, but isn't.
he's a really awesome teacher: super funny and weird, extremely conscious and intelligent and will work you to the bone. he's a GREAT teacher, not THAT easy (i admit that) but isnt that what schooling is all about? he seriously can make your day.
theriault is the man, one of, if not THE, best teachers i've ever had
