I have had her for the last two years and I love her. She made me feel comfortable in her class and she is a great math teacher. To most students you either love or hate her. If you do bad on test like me extra credit will be your best friend. Last year I had a D for progress report but i brought it up to an A. Make sure you get stamps for your homework. I am even thinking of doing Ap stats senior year so she can be my teacher. Overall, the way she teaches helps me understand math better.

Truthfully I would prefer to know Mrs. Neilson as a character, rather than as a teacher. Although she may not intend it, I feel that she is very condescending towards her students when they ask for help. Most of the time, she does not elaborate on the lesson and merely presents notes that are directly from the textbook itself (in other ways, she does not put information in a simplistic or more understandable form). Her tests are easy because it's format is identical to the chapter review.

i agree. you have to teach yourself in this class, but whatever you don't understand, don't be afraid to ask her. you'll have to endure embarrassment if you want to succeed. she certainly doesn't hate her students, but they come and go and a majority of them see the class only as a class, and the teacher? not even human. if you get to know her, she's pleasant.

I don't think she's a good teacher at all...Her class is only easy because she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. The reason why it's hard is because she can't teach. I don't even understand what she's teaching and if I refer to the book it's the EXACT same thing she taught. Which doesn't help because that means she basically referred directly to the textbook. When I ask for help she only gives "hints" so I don't even get real help..

ap stats with neilson was fun. all seniors in that class. she enjoys this period because we're all on an "adult" level. always helpful when youre stumped on a problem. if you're in band or orchestra she'll give you extra help. she'll push you to do your work more than the others. it helps in the end. good teacher overall. i did have her for three years in a row, so take my word for it.

Some like her, others abhor her. I think she's alright. She isn't a good teacher mainly because she copies the notes straight from the book and projects it on the overhead. She doesn't explicate the lesson any further than what's already on her transparency. It's easy to pass because you gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Also, doing notes is very easy. Her homework packets are lengthy but they're good practice. The math tests are moderate--just make sure you understand the concept.

Very nice and generous in her grading, but she doesn't teach anything;she just reads out of the text. I wish she'd really stop with her jokes, I get embarrassed for her :(

She always makes jokes about math that no one gets. She's not super nice, and eccentric. Her grading is ok. Her test is easy, she's very kind to us on that.
