Mr. Gillingham was one of my favorite teachers in high school. He was fun, engaging, and very dedicated to his work. He went out of his way to help students understand the math concepts and went beyond just simply stating the facts. He forced students to dig down deep and truly discover why and how math works. He certainly inspired my curiosity for math and has been an encouragement throughout my high school career. I could easily see myself attending a college course and sitting down to hear him lecture.
Mr. Gillingham is a good guy, a smart guy, and nice guy, but not a teaching kind of guy. He doesn't teach very clearly and focuses on a math problem of minimal importance for the whole hour. Also, this honors precalculus class was more like an AP class in the amount of time it took up.
Mr. G really shows you how math works and illustrates it very well, mostly through explorative worksheets and activities. He is challenging, but also very easy to talk and relate to, which makes him an excellent teacher. I'm definitely privelidged to have had him as a teacher.
Mr. G makes you work...actually teaches math as opposed to most math teachers in the school that just throw book work at you. I appreciated the challenge his class presented to me.
Mr. Gillingham is a very dedicated teacher. He is always willing to put in extra time and effort for his students and he cares about their personal success in and outside the classroom. He is very passionate about his subject matter which is very refreshing compared to his peers.
I have Mr. Gillingham this year and I really think that he's an excellent teacher. He thoroughly explains the concepts in Honors Precalc and is always available for extra help. I'd say he's definitely the best math teacher I've ever had.
Mr. Gilllingham was a very sincere and helpful teacher when I took precalculus. I believe he thouroughly prepared me for calculus and taught math in a way that was very relatable to. Overall, he's an outstanding teacher and mentor.
Mr. G, how do you do #7 i think i messed up a step? The Gillingham response: (big sigh) "well in life, we find that circles can circumscribe a square, but ask your self this: what is life, what is a square, and how is it related to life? does that answer your question?" my response: ummmmmmm sure why not, il just go to math help during my study hall. what kind of a response is that?! hes a good guy but seiriously dont teach highschool
Mr. Gillingham has been an outstanding help to me in my precalculus class. He has a refreshing way of teaching that makes me want to pay attention to and learn from him. He also has a sense of humor that keeps the class focused. He does a very good job of not just helping us to get the right answers, but to do so in the manner that is most efficient and will help us at the next level of mathematics. I am thankful to have a teacher like Mr. G. He has shown me how to look at math in an entirely different way.
Mr. Gillingham is a phenomnal teacher and those of you who have him right now will learn to appreciate him next year, when you go on to higher level math.
Mr. Gillingham is really cool! He has a sense of humor and his teaching method is really good. None of my other math teachers have taught us the way he does. I mean, they just sort of lecture at the chalkboard and tell us all the answers immediately. With Mr. G, you learn by doing problems, and that helps me understand the concepts at a deeper level. Go Mr. Gillingham!
I think Mr. Gillingham has a good method for teaching - he just needs some more experience to make it even better. Sometimes, I don't like his packets because you have to write basically the same answers over and over again, but they get the point across. He can also be really funny, even if sometimes in a weird way. Overall, I like his class.
Okay, I want to redo my evaluation. He cares a lot about math, and the students, which is good, but I don't like his teaching style. He expects too much, he should know that he is when he has to curve his tests so much. He's an okay person, but I overally dont like his class.
to be honest, i really kind of don't like him. he doesn't have much of a will to follow through with his intentions. He says things like i want you guys to really understand this, however he just throws a bunch of examples on the board, and we just do them because we are told to and not because we know why. Teachers i have had in the past have shown how and why things work, this one not so much.
I Love Mr. Gillingham. He is my favorite person alive and I never even had him as a teacher.
Mr Gillingham is a great teacher and person. He cares about his students and loves math, he helped me so much on his own time. He expects a lot from his students, but if you don't get it, then ask! and stop whining about it.
Great teacher, but difficult tests and packets. Can be very funny in a weird way.
Hes an alright teacher, his class is confuseing and its difficult to follow his examples, plus running past the bell alot is annoying, but he does tend to make alot of jokes, which we laugh at him more of the time
Mr. Gillingham can not consider himself a teacher. All he does is throw examples at the class and hope we understand. THAT IS NOT TEACHING.
Mr. G is the best math teacher I've encountered so far. He teaches you to understand the materials, not memorize it. I learned 80% of my precalc hon class from him in alg 2 hon. That speaks a lot for his qualificatications.
Mr. Gillingham is a remarkable teacher. He pushes his students and forces them to make the extra effort in order to succed. He makes sure that his students understand the material and are prepared for future math classes.
Mr. Gillingham is one of those unique teachers that deeply cares about his/her job. His dedication is evident through the time and effort he puts into the class material/handouts. I highly recommend him for Algebra 2 Honors
It is ridiculous that anyone would be naysaying here. Mr. Gillingham is flexible, understands and is interested in the material, unlike many other teachers here. He also communicates to and involves students extremely well.
Mr G is the most passionate teacher I have yet encountered. He genuinly cares about the subject and the students he teaches. I loved Mr. G because he reaches out to those who are struggling and pushes us to push ourselves.
mr gillingham is a great teacher who incorporates his own theories of learning into his classroom, and i think more teachers should follow his example. he is also caring, and and understanding in any and all circumstances.
Gilly is the man. definately the best math teacher i've ever had. i had him for algebra two and basically didn't have to listen all through precalc cuz i knew it already.
one of my favorite teachers i have had--intelligent, committed, and makes me laugh
Mr Gillingham is a great guy... Not only is he great at math and makes it easy and fun, but he also brings some humor to the classroom and makes it an enjoyable experience... Not a dull moment in the class!
He is good teacher of theory and he lets you figure out the method making it easier to understand later
I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to have Mr. Gillingham as my teacher. He is a great teacher and an awesome person in general. He is smart, funny, and can relate to us. I've never done so well in math. Thanks Gil!!
Mr. Gillingham is such an awesome guy!! He's really helpful and is willing to give up his time for you! His intentions are to help every student succeed and do the BEST they can!! Hes also a great listener...there for advice!
def. one of the best teachers ive ever had. he took everything i previously knew about math and broke it apart, then helped me rebuild it with the right frame of mind. he helped me aquire skills not only for math but for life
I don't like him he paranoid and convinced everyone hates him.
U are increadubly lucky if you get him for Algebra 2, makes classes interesting and makes us think about the uses of math, long live DENNY!
Talks about rap songs way too much. Other than that he is pretty cool.
Mr. Gillingham is possibly THE best math teacher ever. Anyone in Algebra 2 will understand that. Alg. A students take advantage of him, freshmen...
I like the guy, but I'm not sure i like the way he teaches. Last year, I had great grades in math, and i can credit my teacher. This year they arent so great...
Great teacher. Lets us goof off but still gets the lesson through.
