She says she has these mandatory rules, but is very lenient when it comes to not having an understanding of the material.
I have had Ms. Mauk for 3 classes back in high school: Programming 2, Pre-calc, and AP Calc. Although some people might say that she is very tough on her students, her classes did prepare me for college really well. Right now, I'm a freshman taking Calc 3, and there are still some people in my class who don't understand simple algebra, trig, and derivatives. From all experience that I had in her classes, I can tell you exactly, "This is as good as it is going to get."
Ms. Mauk is well not the best to put it simply. She is very intelligent and also very nice BUT she just can not teach....
I had Ms. Mauk for three classes: Algebra I, II, and Trigonometry. I passed Algebra I and II easily. Trigonometry was very difficult and she was not very helpful in her teachings. Besides teaching, she is kind of spiteful and pessimistic. She does like to tell jokes and can sometimes be nice. I really hated her classes though because lecturing about math is not helpful.
I like her as a teacher, I mean she can be cool sometimes, but she can be very hard headed when it comes to some of the things she teaches. She's harsh to some kids that have struggles with her class and the ones who can barely do it, she makes it more difficult to pass her class. And she gets distracted a lot and talks about her history... did you know she makes romance novels? :\
Very hard teacher. She would be more sucessful if she taught at the collegiate level.
Ms. Mauk was a great teacher! She really helped me to understand math and trys very hard to make sure everyone understands.
