One of the few, best teachers I ever had in over 29 years of education. He made a difference and I'm thankful.
Let's go waaay back to 1965-66. He was my Latin teacher at McBride. At one time my straight-A average in Latin was a couple of points shy of the A for that period. He remembered that I had done some extra work and bumped my B up to an A, thus saving my streak. It was the only subject I managed a four year straight A. Thamks, Don, I never forgot it! I had Mr. Ribbing at Parkway West. He actually prepared me for college. His assignments were thought provoking, as were the discussions in his class. I still have a notebook of his "catch phrases."
Mr. Ribbing was one of the absoulute best teachers I've ever had. After our AWOL Bean, he was a very nice change. He knew his stuff really well, and was very good at teaching it. He was also very funny. I liked how he'd lock the door on tardy people.
