Would be really helpful if he played League of Legends instead of World of Warcraft
A very helpful and diligent man although he does have his random bursts of frustration. Otherwise he is a hard worker and is dedicated to gettig points across to everyone in the class room. I'm a jr in his precalc class
As a Churchill Grad of '12 who has now taken my first college level statistics class, I can say that Mr. Szafran's AP Stats class prepared me incredibly well for college level statistics. Also, he's one of the coolest teachers if you get to know him.
While he's insanely smart and knows his stuff, he has the most fragile ego I have ever seen. If you correct a problem he does on the board (like adding wrong or something), he rants for a good 10 minutes about how he can never do anything right, etc. The tests are really easy until he gets lazy and gives you a test from another teacher with material you never learned. He also is a pretty harsh grader although he will assure he "gives the most partial credit of anyone in the school" (not true).
Im sorry to say it really depends on your class! He's really chill with cool classes that dont botter him and teaches really well. I learned more from him in 10 minutes than a whole week with other math teachers. Hes straight to the point, barely gives homework, and tests are very fair and on what you learn. Probably one of the best teachers I had.
He's awesome. From his shirts, to his playing music all the time, he's a great guy, as well as a good teacher. He does though, get a little too competitive when we have a free day an play Trivial Pursuit.
He's super smart and hes really funny. He makes all of the class lessons simple. my thrid time having him, great teacher
Hilarious, helpful, straightforward and underneath it all, thoroughly dedicated
He actually needs to see a Psychiatrist. He's had several break-downs in front of the whole class and it's only NOVEMBER. Get it together, Szafran, your students are tired of your projecting insecurities onto them.
Mr. Szafran has a very particular sense of humor and you'd be stupid to take it too seriously. In class, he's funny: he puts on a bit of a show to get respect but deep down he's really nice & fair.
Smart, funny guy. Doesn't try to make lessons harder than they are, but the tests/quizzes are sort of challenges. Will respect back if given respect.
he tells his classes that he wants to lower our grades. i heard he even admitted to one of his classes today that he talks a lot during tests/quizzes because some kids talk during his lessons. vengence from a teacher?? maybe he does it to lower grades. If you have ADD and need quiet to focus on tests, dont take this class
cool guy with some good stories and lessons, but the worst teacher there is...just doesn't care most days.
The worst math teacher I've EVER had. Had him for Calculus. Could care less about his students...the only reason he teaches is because its one where he can be lazy. He "loves his job" because he can throw tantrums, make people feel sorry for him and eat pizza in the math office. Also puts on persona when Williams is there.
awesome i learned more from him then any other teacher, very smart
him and jernigan are the best math teachers at churchill hands down. Mrs Williams is also very good! Hes a great guy The trivia is just his personality its cool
Mr. Szafran is a decent teacher, but focuses on his ego a lot. Trivia is a big topic, which is kinda unrelated to math.
Awesome person. Really, you can't hate someone who plays Starcraft. However he does seem intimidating at times. Knows all the material though.
So very approachable and talktoable. Great teacher and easy class.
Great teacher, he prepared us extremely well for the AP Stat Exam. Too moody and intimidating though, he can get angry easily. And dont be absent! EVER!
Cool guy...uptight teacher...yur sense of trivia is amazing...loosen up
good teacher. i also think he hates me and sometimes he is mean and cold. he did prepare us really well for the ap exam
he's a good teacher, but he can be extremely intimidating. he doesn't treat students with much respect (especially second-semester seniors).
Hes pretty good, but very bitter and it shows in his somewhat lacking ability to relate to students. He prepared us very well for AP stat
szafran is beast ~ one of the best math teachers ive ever had tho i think he might hate me?
Tells great stories and excellent teacher.I've had him since Algebra 2 w/Analysis and now from Precalc w/Analysis and next year for AP Stat.he can get moody.
He is an awesome guy. Had him for AP Stat and precal w/analysis. Good teacher although he is very tough. Does not round up even an 89.9. :( I like him though.
