Dr. Horace E. Walcott
09/06/14 - Choose where you sit wisely. A lot of group work involved and sometimes group tests. Idk if he does favoritism but i was late everyday and never raised my hand to answer questions, yet i have a very high average (95+)just because i do very well in his exam (98-100% in his tests). He gives extra credit for every tests and u can score as high as 10 points extra per test. His test are from prev regent so even if udk what hes teaching...as long as u do all regents tests relating to his topic 3 days before his test,u should be able to get at least 80% on it. All im saying is, if u cant transfer out, study by yourself because you will either fall asleep from his voice or not understand him at all. I did self study all year and got a 90 on the regents. I still dont know/learned anything about chemistry though... Show More Show Less
01/26/14 - Literally the worst teacher i have ever had the displeasure of having. I did everything I could to transfer out of his class early on, the fuckhead of an A.P of chemistry would not let me. This guy most likely prepares no lesson plans at all, he is the most miserable fuck I've ever known. Staying awake in his class is like storming fucking Normandy with a banana up my ass while having to sing the national anthem in perfect tune GODAMN Show More Show Less
06/26/13 - Dr. Walcott actually knows a lot about chemistry. But the only problem is that he needs to make a written lesson plan so he knows what he is doing and write down useful notes on the board. He talks a lot of useful stuff but doesn't put it on the board! The class is easy and you can get a 90 guaranteed even if you don't know anything. The grades can help you boost your average if you're failing in other classes BUT IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE REGENTS THEN TRANSFER IMMEDIATELY. Show More Show Less
05/22/13 - Oh my god I hate this man. Sometimes he is nice others he is the devil. His voice boring as fuck and oh my god he is just the worst. He has no clue what he is talking about and his grades are BS. LISTEN, IF YOU GET HIM AS YOUR TEACHER, YOU TRANSFER OUT IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WANT TO DO GOOD ON THE REGENTS. ASAP!!!!! -NEEDS TO STOP COVERING THE BOARD! I couldnt take ANY notes!
-Needs to explain everything clearly and have a lesson plan
-Needs to SPEAK clearly and loudly
-Needs to make Chem fun, not boring the class to sleep
-Must slow down once in a while and ask students if they understand or not
-Needs to stop playing favorites or giving out random grades
-Must go to a teaching college and learn hoe to teach!
He's smart and all but just horrible when it comes to teaching! And weird) Show More Show Less
09/01/12 - Slept everyday SINGLE day in his class, got a 90 by the end, and a 75 on the regents. I bet if I payed attention I would've done better, but I couldn't help it. He's one the most boring teachers, and is just weird. He's okay as a person, but does NOT know how to teach. Prepare to buy a Barrons book. Show More Show Less
08/23/12 - Unfortunately, Dr. Walcott, while a teacher who is generally good at least in explicating the basics, doesn't however do to well in ingraining the fundamental knowledge into his students or immersing them in the sea of little details and facts that can't be covered in only the basic framework that he offers. Unfortunately, the student is constantly distracted by his stories, little sessions, research projects that are irrelevant, and so forth, and not with much relevant/well-taught lessons.
