Oct 14, 2014 A very straight forward teacher, basically meaning, he won't attempt to make you laugh. You listening, is about all you need to do in his class. His tests seem fairly easy, you could describe him as "boring", but that's ok, because he's still extremely smart. Not the most effective teacher ever, but you will live with his teaching skills if you pay attention... Flag Rating

Sep 06, 2014 Choose where you sit wisely. A lot of group work involved and sometimes group tests. Idk if he does favoritism but i was late everyday and never raised my hand to answer questions, yet i have a very high average (95+)just because i do very well in his exam (98-100% in his tests). He gives extra credit for every tests and u can score as high as 10 points extra per test. His test are from prev regent so even if udk what hes teaching...as long as u do all regents tests relating to his topic 3 days before his test,u should be able to get at least 80% on it. All im saying is, if u cant transfer out, study by yourself because you will either fall asleep from his voice or not understand him at all. I did self study all year and got a 90 on the regents. I still dont know/learned anything about chemistry though... Flag Rating

Jun 26, 2013 Dr. Walcott actually knows a lot about chemistry. But the only problem is that he needs to make a written lesson plan so he knows what he is doing and write down useful notes on the board. He talks a lot of useful stuff but doesn't put it on the board! The class is easy and you can get a 90 guaranteed even if you don't know anything. The grades can help you boost your average if you're failing in other classes BUT IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE REGENTS THEN TRANSFER IMMEDIATELY. Flag Rating

May 22, 2013 Oh my god I hate this man. Sometimes he is nice others he is the devil. His voice boring as fuck and oh my god he is just the worst. He has no clue what he is talking about and his grades are BS. LISTEN, IF YOU GET HIM AS YOUR TEACHER, YOU TRANSFER OUT IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WANT TO DO GOOD ON THE REGENTS. ASAP!!!!! Flag Rating

Apr 06, 2013 As smart and noticed as he is, THIS MAN DOES NOT TEACH. He doesn't prepare the students. He may seem easy by giving take-home tests, but he is impossible to learn from for the Regents. Learn how to teach!!! Flag Rating

Jan 14, 2013 No. Just no. He gives random grades. Can't understand anything he teaches. Has no lesson plan at all. Prepare for the most useless and completely boring class ever. You can't sleep or talk or anything. Flag Rating

Sep 01, 2012 Slept everyday SINGLE day in his class, got a 90 by the end, and a 75 on the regents. I bet if I payed attention I would've done better, but I couldn't help it. He's one the most boring teachers, and is just weird. He's okay as a person, but does NOT know how to teach. Prepare to buy a Barrons book. Flag Rating

Aug 23, 2012 Unfortunately, Dr. Walcott, while a teacher who is generally good at least in explicating the basics, doesn't however do to well in ingraining the fundamental knowledge into his students or immersing them in the sea of little details and facts that can't be covered in only the basic framework that he offers. Unfortunately, the student is constantly distracted by his stories, little sessions, research projects that are irrelevant, and so forth, and not with much relevant/well-taught lessons. Flag Rating

Jun 07, 2012 Dr. Walcott is an interesting case. He does go over the major points of chemistry, covering the basics and going further--the interaction of water molecules, half life, and so forth, but his lessons often tend to be vapid enough to be supplanted by the material in the review book (and are even less helpful in terms of tests).

He does, unlike other teachers, try to help his students, especially in tutoring or in giving worksheets and silly group quizzes that do allow a slim review of the currciu

May 24, 2012 His class is very boring and he can't teach. If you get him, start self-studying to pass the regents from the beginning of the year. The way he teaches is pretty weird and confusing and very different from other teachers. You'd have no idea what the other teachers are saying after what walcott attempts to teach you about. I do like his stories, there's a lot of interesting rumors about him. If you ask him about it, he'll tell you if its true or not and tell you the story about it. Flag Rating

May 08, 2012 Dr.Walcott is such a bad teacher. A Monotonous voice that bores three fourths of my class....... His tests or exams are also very unfair in my opinion, Part A being a 30 question multiple choice and Part B next day being 7 or 10 questions, where each question is worth 10 pts or 7 pts depending on how many questions he gives you. Part B is all short answer and often he gives quizzes that are just unfair where most of my class would fail it. Bad At Chemistry? Good Luck, better transfer out. Flag Rating

Feb 16, 2012 Dr. Walcott is very knowledgeable in the field of Chemistry and has been recognized internationally, even if he is a Vet (i never figured the correlation out), but his class is very unusual. He teaches in a different manner, a more old school, abstract fashion that tries to follow the curriculum. However, his class can get very boring and you can find yourself daydreaming into space. As long as you pay attention, and reinforce the lessons with self studying, you can do well on the regents. Flag Rating

Feb 02, 2012 Dr. Walcott is very gifted as a chemist, but he simply doesn't know how to explain things, which is why his class is such a bad experience. He belongs in a chemistry lab in the desert somewhere, and not a high school in a big city. Flag Rating

Jan 24, 2011 Cool teacher. He cares about his students. He tries to answer your questions to the best of his ability.
However, his tests are difficult, and his classes can sometimes be boring..
If you have him in the morning, drink your coffee AFTER his class. You'll be fine.

Dec 15, 2010 He is okay really. His test are on things you never learned though, he like to show off and he speaks in a monotonous voice. He also has al sorts of rules like "You can't cross your legs in class" He is nice though and gives you good grades if you contribute in class daily. Flag Rating

Nov 03, 2010 Dr. Walcott is a good teacher. All you have to do is pay extreme attention, take good notes and study for the tests. But he is extremely unfair. I have to say that I'm one of the best behaved kids in his class. But one day he caught me doing homework in class and took TEN POINTS off my average. He's way too strict, you have to sit in a certain way or he yells at you. Overall, he's a smart guy, but should change some of his policies. Flag Rating

Oct 21, 2010 Walcott is a really cool guy, but a really bad teacher. He will give you a DN, expect you to know it or your classwork grade is a 65 for that day..He is a pretty good story teller though.. The homeworks are pointless because he doesn't go over them. The tests are insanely difficult because they are irrelevant to the topics he teaches you in class, if you understand it.. He will not explain it well and will tell you to ask a classmate, but how do you do that when no one knows what to do? Flag Rating
