Dr. Aureden is a wonderful teacher who genuinely tries to connect with her students and to make class engaging. The classes I have taken with her have been very casual despite the great abundance of homework, which is actually enjoyable as the material is legitimately interesting. Classes are largely lecture and discussion based, and it is clear that Dr. Aureden is passionate about her work and puts a lot of effort into planning the courses. I highly, highly recommend taking a class with her.
Easy enough to get a participation grade, but have to say the compositions are ridiculously hard graded. You have to really put in the time and effort and have luck on your side to pull a 6. Highly recommend dropping to take the intro Music class.
Sweet woman who knows what she's talking about. If you listen to the comments you'll do fine. Some effort= automatic 5; a little extra=6. How it should be, I guess. If you're polite and enthusiastic you'll become one of her favorites quickly. It's harder if the other people in the class a good at it, if they're bad, its easy.
I think she sees you as one grade and no matter how much harder you work, you're still a "_" student. Don't go asking her about your grade, she doesn't like that.
she sorta does pick favorites. regardless, I really had a great experience w/ her. As long as you do everything its not that hard.
I really liked her class. (Partly because I was one of the favorites, which, yes, she does pick.) But you learn a lot and the compositions are really fun to do.
Honestly? She does pick favorites. Just cause I didn't watch west side story a billion times doesn't mean she should hate on my compositions...i got better tho she said improvement matters still got4
She picks favorites, and settles on first impressions. Quite a selfish person when it comes down to it.
She's cool, but not very helpful with those who aren't immediately skilled in composing. Since she's the head of the music dept. she often seems distanced from the class what with all the other work.
nice and helpful. but since she's the head, she's really stressed and doesn't really have much time or isn't prepared for class. i couldn't compose music, so she kinda gave up on me in the beginning..
She's really helpful and is willing to spend extra time working with you on your compositions. She holds students to higher expectations, but is willing to help get you there.
She's not bad. She kinda wrote me off as a lost cause at the beginning of the term, and that made her somewhat less helpful later on. Still, she's fair.
Ms. Aureden was such a nice and helpfull teacher. Would highly recommend her particularly if you have not taken music before.
Ms. Aureden is very enthusiastic and a joy to perform with.
Ms. Aureden is always available for extra help and really wants to help make our compositions better. Plus, her college stories are hilarious.
She was a fine teacher, but her grading was messed up. You could get 100% on everything and still get a 5 in the class.
Very friendly. Sometimes too nice. Passive aggressive? Very enthusiastic on her topic, even if she does get sidetracked in class a lot of the time. She grades writing very easily, but it's very tough to get a 6 on anything you compose.
Mrs. Aureden is a wonderful teacher and always there to help and support her students in their journey of growth both academically and as a person.
she knows a lot about music theory, but she is not that talented as a musician. i personally would not take private lesson from her. very sweet and caring woman though
A very good teacher overall, she knows what she's talking about and is very enthusiastic.
