An amazing and sweet person, but a terrifying and horrible teacher. Only have ten pages of notes from her class this entire year, and the rest are just packets that she gives out. The days when she tests our pronunciation are the worst. She never gives answers and expects you to figure it out yourself, and then gets irritated when you can't. Tests are extremely hard, but she does curve your final grade. She's also leaving the school, and it makes me sad but also a little happy.

Augustave is a funny person, she crackles you up sometimes. She has different teaching methods, but I must admit that it works, because I learned alot of French so far. MY pronunciation has improved dramatically because of her lecturing. Tests are hard, but report cards are curved alot.

People say that her class is "ok once you get used to it" and is a "sink or swim culture that encourages students." But it is important to realize that when the entire class sinks except for approx. 5 people she's a horrible teacher. She can't teach, I had her for 3 years and it was the same material repeated for 3 years. She never has a lesson planned, in the 3 years of having her she wrote on the board approx. 5 times. Just plain horrible...

I really feel bad about giving her a bad review, but I can't rate this woman positively. She certainly knows the language very well, and knows a lot. However, her teaching style revolves around yelling, picking on students, and choosing favorites. Not many students like her, and even the faculty dislike her (a guidance counselor said that the only thing she can do is lower people's grades). She teaches a lot, but not very effectively. Better off taking Spanish or Chinese and building from that.

if you are thinking of taking french at stuy, don't! even if you have a passion for the language (as i did) you will not learn anything from augustave, who is stuy's only french teacher. she will give you an unfair grade, you won't learn, and you will hate her class. this is not a personal matter, i can speak with confidence saying nobody in my current french class likes her.

She doesn't start off the language with building blocks, but just gives you sentences and expects you to know all the parts of the sentence and to use it later on. Her teaching style is "I don't give answers." This teaching style is one of the worst ones. I remember i wanted to clarify what was shown in a picture and she refused to answer me. She would rather waste 30 minutes yelling at a student to say a word correctly. She knows her subject but cant teach it well.

She is not that bad as you think. She is funny in class and likes to joke around with a good sense of humor. Easy classwork, all you do is a packet. She does minimal teaching, and is vague sometimes. Her tests are impossible. She puts about 60% of things we actually learned on the test. The other 40% are personal questions that she asks you, and has nothing to do with what you learn in class or at home. The questions are not comprehensible, unless you have taken French for 5 years.

She picks on the weaker student so that they learn and doesnt pick any favorites. She uses social pressure as a learning tool quite well. In her class you sink or swim but if you sink all you get is yelling because she knows you can do better.

Augustave is incredible disorganized, always late and often inconsiderate. She humiliates her students by making us write our mistakes on the board and drilling grammar and pronunciation. The class is also very slowly paced, and you don't learn vocab
