While interviewing for my current position as a VP, Compliance Testing at an international bank I was asked, "can I write?" My response, "absolutely!" I attended Strath Haven HS over 20+ years ago, and the ability to write well or at least the foundation of that ability to write well was set-down by Mrs. Farrell. She hounded me over my poor grammar and run-on sentences, but she kept the class entertaining and always challenging. Mrs. Farrell is by far the best teacher I ever had!
She does not deserve the horrible rep she has, but she is NOT a good teacher. She crosses boundaries that shouldn't be crossed, insulting students in front of a class for their personalities or person
I dreaded having her because she has a bad rep, but she ended up being one of the best teachers I've had at Strath Haven. She helped me to develop the skill to write the essays that helped me get into
Ms. Farrell gets a bad rep, but she's one of the best teachers I've ever had. People don't like her because she expects a lot out of her students and is pretty critical, but usually? She was right.
She has shaped my life like no other teacher. She taught me how to write well and read all kinds of books.
Easy class, if youre willing to bend to all of her rules. I learned absolutely nothing. You analyze almost nothing, instead we write papers about art and things she finds interesting. Waste of a year!
She gives alot of D's but you can redo things so it doesn't hurt. I dont feel like she has helped my writing at all. Just no Diddly Sins. Be very polite to her. She can be easily distracted.
I have had Mrs. Farrell four times in the last three years. She can be intimidating. My writing has improved immensely. Just do the work and you'll have little to complain about.
she is insane. but a good teacher. she really helped me in writing better. she'll probably make you cry at least once. but she is a good teacher. after a while, you can deal with her and become immune
It's easy to get a bad grade (I got a ton) but it's also easy for there to be no evidence of that bad grade on your report card (I got an A). She's also really funny. Not evil at all (well, rarely).
An amazing teacher! Super hard...she hands out D's like mad, but she lets a lot of things slide to boost your grade.
I actually learned how to write because of her. Now Im a journalism major at NYU thanks to her
Though she can be tough, she is an amazing teacher. My writing has improved so much because of her.
Great teacher. Awesome book selection. Everyone tells you she's horrible, but she's very straight-foward.
Many people are saying she judges you day 1 & you can't avoid that. Not true. She hated me and then loved me and I still got a good grade. If you work, you will succeed. She changed my life.
Good if you don't know grammar/topic sentences. Otherwise, not much to learn from her. Grades you on unannounced criteria.
she's the best teacher I have had. She expects your best & won't accept anything less. She's a rockstar and really prepares you. I got an 800 on grammar on SAT cause of her. Best
She's one of my favorite teacher's of all time. She'll make you work, and she isn't afraid to give you back a paper with a D on it, but she's hilarious and a great teacher.
Mrs. Farrell's teaching style was challenging! Initially, her personality is jolting but it is a fascade. Despite popular belief, she is a WONDERFUL individual!
She can be mean and awful, but the reality is she can be a big help. I won tons of money because of her, and really discovered I loved to write cuz of her class
She's a devil with grades, but you'll learn how to whip out essays lightning fast.
i can now write a 500 word essay in half an hour thanks to her, she's tough but she'll give you an A if you try, try and get on her good side
I got an A in English101 in college because of her. She's tough, but the only English teacher at Haven who actually teachers grammer and style.
She overrates herself. She is known for being extremely hard and challenging, but you'll soon learn that this is just a false reputation she tries to spread.
The books on her shelf are interesting, and just from writing so much I have become a decent writer. Getting her to like you is a must. A's are easy to get.
If you work hard she'll give you a grade that reflects that. She is fair in that sense.
She is hillarious. You'll work your backside off but it's worth every second to here jokes. Oh, yah and it makes you a better writer.
THE HARDEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're gonna work your keester off! and the work has to be really good too. If you like writing, it doesn't matter
Mrs. Farrell loves the kids she teaches. She may be one of the most demanding teachers, but she will make a writer out of anyone.
very hard and unfair. enter all contests and extra credit is NOT OPTIONAL, u will learn alot about writing but do so at yer own risk
Don't write what you want to write, just write what she wants to hear, or you'll fail.
#1 RULE FOR GETTING AN A:Do exactly as she tells you.If she gives you instructions for a project, follow them EXACTLY.Especially source lists. She's a handful.
You leave her classroom knowing more than you will from any other English teacher. Read lots of the books on her shelves, and enter lots of contests!
this is the best teacher. she is interesting, fun and teaches you how to write. But, don't expect an A in this class.
