Melvin is the best. You will work hard, but learn a lot. Definitely take AP Euro. He prepared us well for the AP Test with writing practice and his memorization processes. Tests are difficult, but there is sometimes a curve. Pay Attention in class!! Literally type most of what he says so you can look at it later and decipher it. There are some golden nuggets in his lectures. Do analyze, and don't be afraid to ask him questions (unless he says no questions). We love you Eric, amirite? XD
I loved Mr. Melvin's class. I was thinking about taking AP Euro, but I didn't because I found him intimidating at the meeting. I ended up getting him for World History, and I finished with an A plus. I'm a senior now, and I still remember his class like yesterday. His "memorization process" is so helpful, and if you do the work, the tests are a piece of cake. Melv is so funny, engaging during his lectures, and is probably overqualified for his teaching job bc he's so smart, but he's great.
Mel-Dog is one of my favorite teachers. He's very interesting to listen to and he'll often go off on very entertaining rants. His favorite phrase is "This is a college prep class." and he's right. You will read a lot of primaries and write a lot of papers, unlike the other history classes. He does go very in depth and will help you along the way. He's supper nice, and as long as you study hard and do your work, you'll be fine.
Amazing teacher and person. Sometimes is too smart for the class, haha. Highly recommend if you are able to retain a lot of information and a good reader.
Eric Scott Melvin is a very attractive teacher. I love it when he talks about his children and life. And most importantly, I love his new contacts, and his jokes. Everytime I enter his classroom, I get this warm feeling inside me. Then we he gives his educational lectures, this warm feeling comes out.
Mr. Melvin is probably one of the best history teachers I have ever had. He is doing a great job preparing us for the harder tests, and he's open to help if you need it. He is hilarious and entertaining in class, and does a good job at engaging students. He will never make you talk in class by calling on you if you're shy, but he will check to make sure if you're not talking out of shyness or not understanding the material. His class is fantastic
Eric Scott Melvin is a very intelligent man, however isn't always clear on directions. He refuses to help you unless you have work for him. He also has very hard test that require multiple weeks of studying, the average is usually 75 or below. His test average goal for the year is above 75....that's not what a teachers should shoot for. His class is somewhat like taking an AP or Honors class that you DID NOT sign up for. In class we never go over content, just primaries , which are hard to get.
hes da bomb dot com
Mr. Melvin is an absolute fantastic teacher. Anything you need help with he's there, really knowledgeable teacher. A lot of studying and effort is needed to do well on the tests, but totally worth it.
Eric Melvin is by far my favorite teacher I have ever had. Although he is the hardest, and his tests are basically impossible unless you study for 50+ hours, he has taught me so much. He is hilarious and has so many great stories, he always gives me the nod when I walk into class everyday, and he always asks me about stuff going on outside of his class. His class definitely prepared me for every other class and im so grateful that I got to know him.
(cont.) required to turn that expensive piece of paper into something more. After earning a bachelor's degree and two master's degrees, I've encountered few teachers* as knowledgeable and willing to provide as many opportunities to think as Eric Melvin. I respect how hard they work to teach us to connect the dots and wish I had the chance to be involved in their lessons again.
*Jeff Davis (many would pay to see a debate between him and Melvin) and Karen Bonnar being the others on that list.
It's been over ten years since I was sitting in Mr. Melvin's AP European history course. The combination of that fact and that I still feel compelled to write a review for him should provide all the insight you need on Eric Melvin as a teacher. He's difficult and it's his responsibility to be difficult. But not because he should be preparing you for college. The determination needed to earn a diploma bears on the student. But because he understands the effort and critical thinking thats...
best teacher I've ever had.
He's a super nice guy but hes extremely hard and wants his students to think on a really high intelligence level that most of us regular World History students just don't have.
He's a tough teacher
Funny guy and great teacher but his tests are impossible! He still thinks he is teaching ap euro even though we're in normal world history. He make his class way too hard for the type of kids in it.
This is my second year in his class, and I hate it. He just lectures all the time about writing and doesn't make any clear concise points about what he wants you to do. His class is boring, but it's e
Awesome teacher. He accepts late work but he makes sure that you understand it. He always gets down on your left and helps you out. Not to mention his name, Eric Scott Melvin, is the same exact name (
The best teacher ever! Hard as hell, but you learn sooo much. He is the man! You'll hate him and love him so much at the same time. Be excited if you have him. Have fun with the workload! :)
He's a really great guy. But - if history isn't your thing, don't take his class.
He's really hard, but has a realllly good sense of humor haha
funniest teacher ive had actually teaches you something and you learn a lot hes awesome
He is a nice guy, but if you dont particularly love history, the work load sucks. His world history class is basically a college prep class with a world history topic.
He's a nice guy but he's on a level of intelligence so far from what we as students will ever reach that it is impossible to comprehend anything he says.
Love him! he's hilarious and a good teacher. Like a male version of sabatini but with a heart and soul
His psych class is definitely an easy A. Just do the work and you'll be fine. Melvin is a really funny teacher and will definitely keep you entertained with his stories.
His class was the best of my day! but the grade was the worst of my classes...
Mr. Melvin is amazing and so hilarious. i loved when he would be giving a lecture and just randomly start talking about his kids or something funny that happened
Without a doubt, the greatest teacher of all time...I wish all teachers could be like him.
Good teacher but AP Euro is really hard so far. Essays are hard. Homework is hard. Tests are hard. And he gets off track sometimes. He's a really cool guy though.
great teacher, will help you if you ask him, keeps history very interesting, great sense of humor
Melman will keep giving you Howard Zinn assignments till Monkeyman returns from Babylon. Cool guy but hard tests. Good man.
meldog is my hero. he's super hard but really funny and strange.
He brings teaching to life with his neo-hippie flare and wry sense of humor. Best hacky sacker I've ever seen.
COOLest teacher ever EVER! By far my best and favorite teacher!
Mr. Melvin will help anyone he wants all of his students to have a love for history.
