Mr. Vorwald is a good teacher. You just need to know your stuff and you'll be fine in this class. For example, my overall average is a 99.35 and I just do my homework when he is on tangents. (all the time). Don't study for any exams, they are so easy. Some people say he is a bad teacher but they are not suited for this class. (You know who you are) Honestly, to the people who are complaining- you guys need to be proactive and self study, or just drop out so you don't pull the class behind. SCIO!
He's a very nice guy but his teaching is disorganized and he gets off track a lot leaving his class more than a week behind. Most Do well on his tests because they're honors students but otherwise his tests are long... we rarely finish our work in class....
Nice but bad at teaching
He's a good teacher.
He isn't a great teacher and he goes off-topic a lot, but he is a nice person and he has a lot on his plate to deal with along with teaching.
He cannot stay on topic, he assigns way to much homework because he doesn't teach us anything, his tests are very hard because we don't learn anything. He commonly misplaces students' work and gives them 0's, he has been throwing a lot of work at us because he is a lesson behind, and he goes on tangents often. I do not recommend this teacher to anybody. Although I dislike him very much, he is a nice guy and he means well, he is just a little crazy.
Mr. Vorwald is a great guy and a great teacher
Mr. Vorwald is an extremely nice man, extremely well versed in Earth Science. I have him for Earth Science 4/5th period, and while he has a tendency to be a little unorganized, which is understandable considering he has to juggle being the SciO coach, and Science chairman at Gelinas. Despite his flaws he is a very relatable fellow, and he provides PLENTY of review for tests. People who don't like him are lazy and lack mental fortitude, kids in 4/5th period YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!
He is nice but does get sidetracked and is unorganized but he wants the best for his students.
Unorganized, drop out before you are stuck doing fifty science in the news
He is a great Science Olympiad coach, but in class, he is often sidetracked, talking about rocks, SciO or random history about nuclear bombs, his family, playing instruments in historical reenactments that have nothing to do with the class. The tests weren't difficult, but we missed the entire last unit before the finals though, so make sure to self-study! Also, he was kind of inappropriate, talking about rape and making sex jokes at times...
He gets too side-tracked and is not organized at all, I had so many missing papers even though they were handed in, and last year he didn't even finishing our last lesson before finals. I recommend you switch out.
He is an awesome teacher and I would recommend him to anyone interested in science. He is obsessed with rocks.
i like rocks i like rocks i like rocks
Mr.Vorwald, is Very disorganized, not helpful at all. He is knowledgeable, but does not know how to pass on that knowledge. He goes on tangents A LOT, and at the end of the year we could spend hardly Any time on evolution. And then he blamed it on us. If you get it him switch out immediately. He is a good science Olympiad coach, but a horrible teacher.
Mr. Vorwald is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He explains things very clearly, and makes things easier to understand. As my Science Olympiad teacher, he was amazing. Dedicated, devoted, everything. As for the people who say that he gets off topic, and has favorites, he in only trying to make things easier to understand, and make the class fun. He succeeded. He might have "favorites" but those people are the ones who need extra help in science.
Over doing science olympiad for 3 years I got to know him very well and he wasthe most enthusiastic person about teaching ive ever known. He would stay after school almost every day (and on satudays) sometimes until 5 or 6 PM for scio.As a teacher he was often slightly unorganized, but that was because of his great commitment to sci-o.He was a great teacher with tons of experience and knowledge, there wasnt a question i could ask about earth science he couldn't answer. WE WILL MISS YOU VORWALD
loses work and definitely favors certain kids.. very disorganized and doesnt get what he has to get done.
WE ruv you jhcvasdfhgldkjgdgh;kfvhsksdfjhvbsajkdflVH;DSAFHVBJKDF
hi. u r awesome. :) mewy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He is an awesome teacher! LOves his Rocks!!!!! Im not joking thats all he talks about! HE is so sweet!
great teacher i can tell he realy loves his job and shows a lot of pashon for his work but he is very disorganized loosees youre work weve go off on random topics the whole class some time bus very ni
its like he didnt have anything planned the entire year, he just talked about random things and made us do science in the news. But he is very nice.
Really great teacher. loves his students, and i got a 96 on the regents! YOU ROCK GARY VORWALD! -Gary Vorwald
Okay, my biggest pet peeve: favorites. And Mr. Vorwald happens to LOVE having favorites. He generally picks the quiet, "nice", people who aren't really that nice, and fawns over them. Really?
He's great for SciO, but should NOT be teaching classes. He makes unreasonable demands, and asks to see homework that he either never assigned or gave in a very unclear manner. He also has favorites.
BEST SCIENCE TEACHER EVER! I GOT 98 ON THE REGENTS! LOVE YOU GARY ( I dont go to the school anymore so i feel its appopriate )
all of u who gave him bad ratings stop being drama queens! he likes rocks and you don't, get over it. he's a great scio coach and pretty good SR teacher.
A really nice guy, but teaching wise- not so much. He knows a lot of things, but every lesson is basically either a powerpoint or a lab. Really dedicated to teaching though.
He's not a great teacher, pretty boring, very off-topic, and doesn't really cover the right stuff for the Regents. He's a really good SciO coach, though (still boring, but really dedicated).
very nice person, but he favorites a few. method of "TEACHING" is conducting a conversation with the class while the class listens, dying, waiting for the bell. DEFINITELY SWITCH OUT IF YOU GET HIM!!!
he is a good teacher... for visual learners. He's really helpful in explaining otherwise incomprehensible materials. The only downside is that he does tend to get off topic a lot... but it's worth it.
I dont like him hes the WORST he doesnt kno how 2 teach!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent teacher and an even better Scio coach. We got to Nationals!
Mr. Vorwald is the worst teacher I have ever had. His lessons are always off topic form the subject. We did minimal review for the NYS regents. BEWARE OF THIS AWFUL TEACHER.
a sketchy guy to begin with and he doesn't even make it up by being a good teacher. if it wasn't for schoolisland, i'd fail every test.
hi mr vorwald, Im a rock, yes im talking to you like you talk to me
hmmm, did anyone else realize that he talks to rocks? Niagra Falls 3 yrs ago was just TOO wierd...but i must say he LOVES what he does
Prolly biased cause I'm in SciO, but he's good. Makes sure EVERYONE understands what's going on. And I like rocks!
Great teacher but plays OBVIOUS favorites-very frustrating to those that try our best but because we are not a favorite we are overlooked and ignored.
I had him for a summer extracurricular program. Very nice, altough he advertises his work a lot.
very into the topic that he is teaching, i like him a lot and a lot of my older friends also really enjoyed his sense of humor and attitude twords rocks!!!
Hes a great teacher and i understand everything he teaches and do well in his class.
he was my niagara falls chaperone, and he is actually really nice!!!!! I'm so glad I was on his bus!!
