Gerald Drayer, what a wonder. Where do I even begin? He is so amazing, and is the greatest teacher at Murrow. He gives mad work, but he's preparing you for your global regents in 10th grade. He is so wise. He is always willing to make appointments with you during his OPTA's, where you can usually find him in the tutoring suite eating his little sandwich and reading the newspaper. In conclusion, I am very grateful to have the honor of being taught by Gerald Drayer, my hero. An icon.
Eh. In my own words, Mr. Drayer is a good teacher, but may also get you stressed out because of the half page hw answers and whatnot. His exams are difficult, but if you complete satisfactory work and participate more, then that will really boost your grade. He is hilarious at times, however you wouldn't want to be on his bad side, like some students are, in his Global Honors class. For freshman, his class may seem difficult, but it prepares you a lot for your future years in school!
Mr. Drayer seems like a really hard teacher, and for a freshman he is, but afterwards you'll see how much he really prepares you for the upcoming years. His tests are killer, but you can boost your grade my participating and always doing the homework. :)
Although he is a nice guy, he certainly is a bad teacher. First of all his classes are incredibly boring. Sitting through it you hear the same thing repeated over and over again. Yet what he repeats 20 times will most likely not be on the test. Instead, what is on the test is the details the he barely mentioned. For example, he will spend a whole lesson on the weapons of the Sparta but will test you on the battles they them. What he teaches isn't even what is on the regents.
His class is a lot of work for a freshman and he gets frustrating sometimes, but he really knows what he's doing. He's a great teacher who really cares about his students. If you study, participate, and do your work in his class it really pays off.
He's so sweet and nice. He lets you know what the class requirements are, and its up to you to do the work. He is also always willing to meet outside of class when a student needs help.
He is an annoying teacher to have. When I had him he would make us write half page answers per question on the homework this cut out time for me because I important family issues going on and he said that was no excuse. His projects weren't clear and when he tried to clarify his projects he couldn't at all, however during his lesson he can only clarify questions of that.
Mr. Drayer was an amazing teacher to me. He was completely understanding, rational and motivating. His lessons were mindblowing, they allowed you to be openminded to some many ways of thinking. He addresses issues that teens today should have knowledge over. He can be strict and give a lot of work, but you really do learn a lot and at the end of the day his knowledge can be used to your advantage. Mr. Drayer actually teaches and gives his students a drive. I am so thankful that I had him.
I didn't enjoy his class while I had him, but he has prepared me for so much. Plus, he's an incredibly sweet old man.
I hated him while I had his class, but he prepared me for the rest of high school. I seriously appreciate it now and I actually learned a lot. Just do his homework on wide ruled paper haha (no joke always worked for me) and participate
Mr. Drayor is by far one of the best teachers hands down in Murrow. All of these reviews are lies, hes a very kind, patient and hardworking man. His tests aren't really that difficult if you study and his homeworks help alot. Miss the guy alot
Mr. Drayer is a wonderful teacher and promotes a positive learning environment. He is ALWAYS there to help students, whether to review your test or to make corrections on your project; just be sure to set up an appointment with him in advance. Mr. Drayer typically requires a half page answer for the homework, which is given on a daily basis. Be prepared to discuss your answer at the start of the lesson and generally stay focused during class as Mr. Drayer asks thought provoking questions based o
Great teacher. He's extremely nice and never yells. He only seems strict because he gives you work and if you don't do it, points are deducted...isn't that what teachers are supposed to do? So no he isn't strict. He doesn't yell and he gives us a lot of time for our project and tells us about tests in advance. He's very good at explaining too. His class is no walk in the park but if you're expecting it to be, you shouldn't be in an honors class.
very nice teacher. he's just very strict. His tests are hard but he makes a great effort in teacher his students. This is the first class that i actually understands social studies. He genuinely hopes for the best to his students. LOL, it's like trapped in prison in his class though. He would always find a way to look at u. there is no way that u can not focus because he is EVERYWHERE! If you are in his class, YOU HAVE TO WOORRK HARRRRRD. his class is not easy to pass. I got a S.
drayer is a very good teacher. his class debates helps students to engage and understand the lesson. his tests and projects are challenginng but in the end he helps us learn. having drayer gave me a stronger work ethic and i can be proud of the work i hand in because i try very hard in his class. getting good grades in his class is very rewarding.
Having him for Freshman year was a pleasure to be honest. He may be strict, yes but he's an amazing teacher. He teaches the way that college should be formatted and prepares you well for the many years coming to come. Many students complain about the work that he gives, but they're very well prepare you. He has a large "database" of information and will basically explain to you anything after-class. You will also have to make appointments. There's so many things to say, but it's never enough!
mr drayer has been helpful on some areas but tends to sometimes refuse to answer our questions. he also cuts us off and sometimes isnt the greatest teacher. he gives us little time to prepare for certain things and isnt clear about everything.
Drayer is honestly the best teacher I ever had. He can turn a normal seeming piece of information into something huge from the man ways he teaches you to look at it. He's very nice and never yells. He may be strict but he never treats a student unfairly or rudely. He truly cares about his students and knows what he is talking about. Great teacher.
He's a good teacher but very strict and he makes sure you work in his class. You'll become a better writer after taking his class for global honors for freshman year. my essays and project writing improved . I recently found out I'm writing a college format and I'm only in my first year of high school. :O
He is a very good teacher. i'm about to take the global regents as a sophomore and i and so thankful i had him. I remember how everything he taught us worked out. I also feel i can write a very strong essay thanks to his tough grading. He is a hard teacher, but you will appreciate having had him. Especially, after you're done with his class. ;)
Mr.Drayer's a very nice teacher. He's strict but he's nice. He would help you whenever you ask him and in his class, you can actually learn a lot things and be prepare for college.
the only reason people don't like him honestly is because they don't try hard enough! if you participate and so forth he's almost adorable.
Excellent teacher, if you have him consider yourself lucky because from his lessons, social studies is simpler and more understandable. Hardwork participation= E. Have fun!
I think that while your in his class, your going to hate him, however, by the end of your sophmore year, you'll remember him, because somehow, you have actually learned something, and retained it
Mr.Drayer is a nice guy. Don't believe any bad stories people tell you about him. They just say those things because they can't write a proper essay. Mr.Drayer's class can be very interesting if you actually TRY TO PARTICIPATE. Trust me, Mr.Drayer is nice, difficult, but nice.
First and for most, I think Mr. Drayer is a rather good teacher. He actually cares about his students and I'm sure that all the hard work he gives us now will evenutally pay off in the end. I mean, if we think Mr. Drayer is 'hard' wait till we get to college, et cetera. His class isn't even THAT boring; something amusing always happens. There isn't that much home work compared to students in college and his projects do make sense in a way.
I had him last year as a freshmen. At first i hated him, but i he prepares u very well to succeed in Global. His writing helps you a lot. Hard, but worth while. One of hte very few teachers that care about students. hte better hte this, hte better the htat
He means well, he really does. He's a nice guy, you just have to do exactly what he says, literally. Follow his essay writing sheet down to the last period, no matter how stupid it is. Believe it or not, he's not out to get anyone.
Please have mercy on the students and stop trying to be so exact. I saw him counting the lines on this person's hw, just to see if it reached the page limit. INSANITY! Tough and unfair grader. He's cheesy too.
Alright you guys IF YOU'RE STILL IN MURROW READ THIS: First off, i think Mr Drayer is one of the harder teachers in the school, no doubt about that. Second, He was my first teachers in the school and i thought he was very nice and i thought at times he might be mean but hey, its how he toughens everyone up. Finally, Hes a very nice person if you get to know him outside of class. I still use his tactics even in college. Hes a great and helpful teacher. He is often misinterpreted but hes a really nice guy.
He's a sweetie and he gets his stuff done, but I feel he puts too much emphasis on the wrong things.
ie: the nonexistent "magic formula" for essay writing.
HE IS SO DIFFICULT SOMETIMES AND REPETITIVE. but i will probably thank him for my experience. i'm so used to his teaching that i'll probably be in a funk when i get a different teacher.
drayer is...interesting to say the least. he is a good global teacher, but he waters down every lesson so that its pure work. i mean...all work no play? ehh, not every lesson has to be like that. he should learn to let his guard down, but i respect him highly as a teacher
Mr. Drayer is one of the best teachers that I have ever had, it's really hard to believe, but it's true. Im in AP Euro now, and even tho i have a great teacher, i still miss Drayer. i swear that by ur sophomore year, ur gonna miss him too
I had him last year, and let me tell you something freshmens, you will THANK him next year.
I had him last year... I actually kinda miss him. He's hard and all but if you give it your full effort you'll do great in his class. You'll hate him now, but love him when you don't have him. I had him for 4 cycles last year, and I miss him now =/
he's a great teacher and i found his class very interesting
he is evil. he teaches you the info but he's bad. i think i saw horns coming out of his head once...
HATE HIM SO MUCH he's a good teacher and all but like he bores me to sleep sometimes
Mr.Drayer is a fantastically sweet person, but he strives for near perfection from his students, many of whom are frightened freshman. His class teaches them skills they will definitely need(I use Drayer methods all the time).
He's a really good guy. Do all, and I mean ALL of your homeworks will FULL EFFORT! And participate. If you don't... don't expect over an S. He's more than a fair grader... I know I deserved an N, and he gave me an S. =)
Mr. Drayer is NOT horrible. He's actually very nice. He just has perfection issues.
he's not the easiest teacher on earth, but i always get the topic and an E in his class, so I'm not complaing.
strict but you do learn from him. he's boring when he teaches since he loves to talk a lot.
Mildly adorable when you're giddy enough to enjoy it in his class. Let eceryone else hate him! They didnt get es first cycle ;) Good teacher, too
very hard class, really hard tests and alot of homework. but you do learn the lesson.
i'm in the middle with him. he doesn'y grade fairly at all. he looks for perfection in your tests and homework iin order to give a good grade. and he even admite perfection does not exist.
EXTEMELY STRICT AND UNREASONABLE! Gives no Breaks one hw missing one time late phone call. Doesn't know his History all that well although it sees like he does. Also Unreasonable. I got a G in his class and I'm saying this.
He's an extremely strict teacher who doesn't know his History all that well.I've found that he makes a lot of historical errors. Gives No Breaks. Will call your parents if you're late sometimes even once same policy for homew
Very controlling. He gets it done, but not pleasantly. Mildly affable.
"the better this" *points 2 board* "the better this" *points 2 board* "the better this" hes unfair nd gave us a proj. so early. i mean its onli the 3rd week of skol is he insane? *yes* oh yeah...
He gives good lessons, but he gives way to much home work and can't write to save his life
This man made me love history. He's great and very passionate about his lessons. You learn so much so listen in his class and never be late!
He's the best SS teacher ever, gives alot of homework but you really learn and remeber what he taught you, and he makes it fun.
he gives a lot of homeworrk to prepare us for tests, he likes his answers thorough. overalll he is a pretty good teacher.
Mr.Drayer is an excellent teacher and a very nice person. I had him last year, and his teaching methods are very effective. He is the best.
He's really effective but tells the same jokes every cycle.
No one liked Mr. Drayer, but I thought he was great. If you pay attention and participate you'll do fine. He's one of the nicest guys in the school and still says hi after 4 years!
I think hes not as bad as he is made out to be. Very systematic and organized.
He's not as hard as everyone says; I don't see what's so bad about how he teaches.
He is a hard teacher, but i suggest doing all the hw's. however he needs to get rid of the hand joke and "thanksgiving joke". Anyway, bottom line he's hard but you could learn something from him.
i agree with him being mercerful as a teacher, he needs to curve, but he's a good person
Mr. Drayer isnt so bad in the end... he has a lot of energy.
he's such a bad teacher. he can't teach and he;s really annoying. i learned nothing from his class.
Tough but very very very helpful, I owe my love for history to him.
best teacher ive ever had. has many effective methods, really makes you work hard. very organized and venerable.tests are difficult but if you study, you succeed
he makes you work hard, but in the end, you feel like you have actually learned something
Mr. Drayer is a very good teacher, I have him for the second time this cycle, and he is willing to help if u need it. I got an E last time, You earn ur grade!!!
i luv drayer,u actually learn something in his class,u need 2 work hard but it pays off in the end,and he even let us imitate him on the last day of cycle 2!
I love Mr. Drayer. He's very hard but hey, it's school, you shouldn't be expecting things to be easy. He really cares about us and is great!
mr. drayer is the most caring and hard working teacher i've ever had and the best teacher i've ever had.ppl like him are rare.its a prilvelge to be in his class
Drayer disagree- Drayer is a good teacher. Sadly, he should have given me a G, but gave me an s instead. Thanks, Mr. Drayer- Elsie.
drayer is ok in my book, the only thing is that he makes you teach yourself. ie:raise your hands, cicle essay handouts!
ok hes VERY HARD... but also fair. his test and his project, were hard, but he takes up his time to meet with you and look at ur project b4hand that helps alot
he teaches good, n i dont kno why most ppl dont lyk him. he's an awesome teacher that i had in cycle 1.
great teacher so far(I have him now ^_^). Helps me improve my writing and write better essays. Those who hate is because u are lazy and don't try ur best.
I had drayer 4 years ago..he's a great teacher...taught me how to write (even tho its an ss class)
He's GREAT. If you don't like Mr. Drayer, consider rethinking your life. He'll teach you how to write and no matter what your grade, you'll learn.
THANKS TO MR.DRAYER I LEARNED HOW TO WRITE GREAT ESSAYS, hence i got a 87 on my regent !!!
very hard grader, not a bad teacher needs to losen up a lil
Drayer is a extremely nice guy but he gives the hardest tests ever. he grades the essays insanely and reports are people's ages. a challenge to say the least
my drayer was by far the best social studies teacher ive had in murrow
welll.what can i say. mr. drayyyer is very clear when his trying to explain that u need to copy ur hw. after the global lesson. he has the lamest jokes everrr!
Drayer is the man. no matter what anyone says, you learn in his class. my favorite teacher by far.
i love mr drayer! hes a really good teacher...and most of the time his lessons are fun, but i hate how hes always so worried about time.
Mr. Drayer is one of the greatest teachers at Murrow. He is truly dedicated to his work and cares so much about helping his students. Deserves a lot of credit.
Mr. Drayer is out of touch with his students, which negatively affects his teaching abilities. Overall, he's irritating (Drayer Disagree!!) and a poor teacher.
Hes Fair. Good Teaching Method. Way to uptight on attendence and Essay Writing. Tests are hard. and to much H.W along with pickyness.
The only advice needed to take his class is to work really hard. He's a great teacher, but is very picky when it comes to grading your writing.
