He is by far the best teacher I've ever had. You u will learn not only about today's issues in government but a new way to think and analyse the world around you. He is all bark no bite, nearly impossible to fail his class unless you don't put in the work. All in all, he will prepare you for the future.
Marx is a G I highly respect and recommend him. Also Mr. Fauver they both helped me teach myself self discipline which I am greatful for because It really awakened me to my full potential in life and to be successful #Classof2K16
This is easily my least favorite class. Every homework assignment is unclear. I have learned nothing about government, and all the assignments are longterm assignments. There are only a few assignments the whole semester, so if you fail one you are S.O.L.
I had him back in '87. Glad to see he's doing the great job he was doing back then.
Marx is one of my favorite teachers ever. He's one of the few teachers at costa who truly prepares you for the future. I took his psych class my junior year and his government class my senior year. He is extremely hard and terrifying but his classes are totally worth it. I've learned more about life and myself in one semester of his class than I have in 18 years.
Glenn Marx, these were words I feared on my schedule at the beginning of the semester. By far the most challenging class I have ever attended at Mira Costa. That being said Marx's class was by far my favorite class that actually make me THINK and be accountable. It'll be a shock at first to all the students due to his strict teaching style but you must ADAPT AND OVERCOME these realities and take on the challenge of this government class. Looking forward to his psychology class second semester.
he is a down to earth man trying to teach his kids about government and speaking. He really likes basketball and enjoys making comparisons about his class pertaining to basketball but they usually turn into long stories and the point does not come across most of the time.
Definitely a no BS teacher. He tries to have fun with the kids but makes himself so imposing at the beginning of the year that most of his students don't really care to break the barrier between teacher and mentor.
Mr. Marx in all honesty, is a great and inspiring teacher. His knowledge is widely ranged and he prepares his students for the next level of education and in life. The things he teaches are beyond the textbook and compared to other teachers, he may seem hard and strict, but if you want to go to university or colleges, that's how your professors will be like. He teaches discipline and widens the student's knowledge beyond any other teachers in this school. Because of him, I'm a better student.
Listen, the guy's a cool guy. He's not a cranky fat old teacher who hates life and wants to make his students miserable. But his standards are definitely above and beyond high school level. He expects Ivy-League honors course type work, and grades harshly and subjectively. Get on his good side, if possible. Overall, his philosophy on teaching is unarguable; he wants students to progressively learn. Of course, it would be nicer to do this without getting a low grade on the report card.
He's very vague with the assignments he gives. Prefers to intimidate his students instead of actually connecting with them. His grading is quite arbitrary. It's based on how much he likes you. Overall, he really fails at preparing you for the AP Government test itself. He only cares about his own agenda, which usually involves current events and stupid projects, rather than the AP test, right up until a few weeks before the test. It's not a surprise that his pass rate is so low.
He is a great teacher, however he likes to challenge the class sometimes beyond our actual limits. It is helpful to prepare for college, but can be overwhelming and a bit too much.
He prepared me very well for college. Writing term papers is a breeze because of the experience I had with him. I've never been so challenged and so rewarded for rising to his challenge.
Hard as hell! but extremely helpful and beneficial!
By far the best teacher I have ever had. But you need to go into his class with an open mind, don't do so and you will hate him. But knows what he talks about. I had him for psych, best class ive ever
Marx is one of the best, if not the best teacher I had in four years at costa. Half of these criteria are not what make a good teacher. He provided me with insight I will need
A phony he never grades papers. 5 of us wrote the same paper 3 times and got diff grades. If it wasn't for Sing AP scores would be dismal. My brother took him 6 years ago and it is the same BS !!
Mr. Marx is a great teacher. Take notes very well in his class, they are on the tests. Be very honest with him if you do not undertstand, stand ur ground and let him know. Missed dearly, Isis
Marx is the best teacher at Mira Costa by far. He gives students the respect they deserve, and teaches you to be a critical thinker. Years later and I still use his lectures to help solve problems.
Marx probably cares more about the kids at costa than any other teacher. He prepares you not only for being a citizen, but also for college and real life. I've had him for gov n psych, he's awesome
mr marx is honestly the only teacher at costa who really prepares you for college. he is really intimidating at first but its just so you know not to fk around in his class. he gives a lot of work, but its really important to be prepared for college. he is entertaining in class when he gets all into what he's talking about. he uses useful analogies and is really thought provoking. my fav teacher!
God I hated his class...but it was the best class I ever took
Best teacher i have ever had in my whole entire life... makes you think ..i never tried in school until i got to his class and i got an A ...its not an easy class by any means but its definitely worth it...if you are going into senior year dont take summer school or AP to get out of his class...i start college tomorrow and im not scared because i know he prepared me...i love you marx!
Many complaints from parents Verbally abusive and extremely random grading Told kids they were all enabled and couldn't make in the world. Excellent students scared of failing.
I took his psychology class, HUGE waste of time. What i did actually learn was better public speaking skills and stronger crtical thinking skills.
hardest teacher ever, but you WILL learn things in this class. you cant get away with things in this class that you can in others
if he spent half as much time complaining about how we arent "college prep" students, and put that towards teaching, we would actually learn something in his class.
the best teacher i have ever had. everything is related to basketball, and i love that part most. learn to appreciate his class!
Does great impressions of people. Very entertaining. Charming in a dry sort of way.
i didn't appreciate the class until it was almost over. everything is related to basktball. his grading system is not fair
marx class should be basketball and its relationship with american government! overall, not a bad teacher, he teaches you to think on your feet, TAP DANCE!
Brown are ya kidding ? Not very fair or on top of it!!
Mr. Marx is pretty hard, but you learn so much, especially to get prepared for college classes
Mr. Marx is a fantastic teacher that forces you to use your mind. Most people don't do to well on his difficult tests, but they still do fine in the class.
Greatest teacher i have ever had. By far the most interesting and genious man on the planet. Run for pres Marx. NO MORE MARX
He is one of the hardest teachers I've had, but he is also one of the best I've had. After you take his class you'll be glad you did, I know someone who failed and is still glad, because he gets you to actually LEARN !!! (*funny picture*NO MORE MARX ! )
Mr.Marx is the teacher to get if you're serious and about getting ready for college. You really don't get that much work, but it just seems that way because he is very much the autocratic teacher.
He's hard, but he's one heck of a government teacher! Take him for government, but stay away from his Econ class if you can help it!
