ive had hendry for 3 years and i waited until i finished ap to write this review. there are times when her directions are confusing and theres too much work, but you learn so much. the grading also gets difficult, but she wants every student get the most out of her class. it really disciplines you as a student esp in 56/ap. in the end, the ap test was a breeze.. although i had some b's despite how hard i worked. participation is key!//dont procrastinate&ask for help
This class was so painful, and I didn't enjoy a minute of it. She's not even that good at teachin g.
Ms. Hendry is a really good teacher, but her class is extremely hard. She does not tolerate students asking "dumb" questions and is very strict with her rules (you can't even drink water in her class). Overall, the class was extremely hard, but you will learn a lot and she is also very helpful to students who are struggling.
This class is absolutely terrible, I can't take it anymore
This class is extremely difficult
This class is so hard omg.
I struggled and managed to get a C+. And I got an A- in Sarkar. That says something. Though I cannot deny that she is good at teaching.
She will destroy you. You will be slammed to the ground, and suffer. But when you get back up, your espanol will be great. Pay attention to detail, never slack off, be great at time management, practice, and you'll succeed. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she's extremely nice. Also, be confident. Participation is key.
She enjoys seeing students suffer :) good luck
Horrible teacher, horrible attitude, doesn't want you to be successful.
Her class is very difficult, but you'll learn a lot from her. She's also helpful.
People are all over the place about Mrs. Hendry but she truly is a hard teacher and at times she appears to enjoy the students' suffering and she seems to scary to ask questions to most of the time but outside of class she is beyond nice and extremely helpful. %-6 honors is hard but it is a learning experience, always start the resumen when she gives it to you. For the first one my year she told us that it was due on Friday the Sunday before and everyone was struggling because they had no time.
This is an honest review. She is an absolutely amazing teacher--she teaches thoroughly and made me fluent in spanish.Yes, the work was hard (I had her for 3/4 & 5/6). However, school is a place where students are supposed to LEARN, and you will 100% come out of this class with more knowledge of the spanish language than when you walked in. Yes, it's really hard and you will hate it at times, but its worth it. Highly recommend going to talk to her after school!
Very good teacher... But extremely strict. She's made me hate spanish and made my year terrible. Save yourself.
I used to love spanish but this witch has taught me to hate a class I once looked forward too. She gives SO much work all at once and doesn't understand that we have courses other than hers with their own hw too.
she can fill my taco
Biggest B*tch ever.
Sra. Hendry is an awesome teacher. She knows exactly what she wants you to learn and focuses everything to that goal. She won't waste your time on something that doesn't matter, and she expects the same from students. Want to learn? Take her class!
Hendry is not as bad as everyone says. She may seem very strict in the first month of having her, but you will definitely get used to her. Workload is not horrible at all. Take this class if you actually want to learn Spanish to use later in life!
While strict, Mrs Hendry is an excellent teacher. Her 3-4/Hons are far more difficult than other 3-4/5-6 classes, but you will be far more prepared for Spanish Hons/AP. You will have to put effort into this class and study, but you will learn alot.
People think she is so strict. She is actually really easy. All you do is have to pay attention and participate. Also, do all your homework. I got an A both semesters for her in 3/4. I'm going to 5/6 honors and 7/8 AP she wants you to do very well.
If you get her 3/4 class, you're screwed. She only knows how to teach the honors and ap classes and treats the regular 3/4 students, assignments, and tests like they are part of the ap class. I was lucky to be one of the only 5 students in the class to get away with a grade higher than a C both semesters and got a B- both times soley though an insane amount of participation and homework
She's strict, she can be a little harsh; but she's a good teacher. She practically wrote the AP Spanish curriculum at Leland from the ground up. Go in after class; you'll find a totally different (and for some, exponentially more helpful) teacher. She knows what she's doing; you may not always like what she does, though, with the workload at times. But you'll thank her after all's said and done and you can apply your Spanish.
Hendry is a tough teacher. Anyone who thinks Spanish is an easy subject will learn a hard lesson. Many transferred out after Sem1. However, you will learn a lot. Your speaking skills will improve beyond belief. Hendry is nice sometimes, but can be downright unreasonable. For instance, she failed our entire class on a project and one of her final questions was "what was Jose's shoe size?". Her "Resumen" project is also pointless and a LOT of hard work. You have to write about 30 essays in Spanish
Really bad teacher, and vindinctive as well. She seems to take pleasure in tormenting the students. She should never have become a teacher, since she obviously hates students.
Ms. Hendry is an absolute professional. Her passion as a teacher is that her students learn the language and be able to use it, and she focuses everything to that end. She sets up her grading such t
Doesn't help very much. She tells you instructions, and expects the whole class to understand it. The people who don't understand it just follow along and ask their classmates what they're supposed to
Really hard Spanish 3-4 teacher for those that don't care about a 2nd language. She is really a good teacher though, very clear and forces students to participate.
Doesn't teach, rude, and you can't even drink water... hmm.
Best Spanish Teacher at Leland just not the easiest.
She's actually really nice... o_o Most of her class consists of knowing how to follow directions and anything past 5-6H, you just need to learn how to study. The workload really isn't that bad.
she's hard, but you learn a lot in the class. it's kinda hard to get an A, just don't slack off
She is a very hard teacher. Getting a good grade in her class is definitely a lot of work. But you learn a lot, and she really is a very good teacher.
she's a really good teacher and you definitely will walk out of her class knowing a lot more spanish than when you walked in. however, there's a lot of projects if you do AP or 5-6 hon so be prepared
you definitely have to work hard in her class, but she's a great teacher. you learn a lot, not only out of the book (like grammar and conjugations and vocab), but she also teaches things that she finds about spanish culture and history.
you can easily finish the hw in class but theres a lot of pointless work. she does get mad about little things like no water in class. its dumb but besides that shes a decent teacher and very helpful.
This teacher is the best. Organised and caring with regard to her students. Wish there were more out there like her. Keep up the good work and thank you for going that extra mile.
Good teacher, Dunno why people are saying shes hard, it's soso. She seems so sweet too. Usually people like to make fun of their teachers but even if you're mad at her, you cant.
Yeah, she's hard, but if you want to learn spanish, she's completely awesome. She's always there to help and she wants you to succeed and learn spanish, you can tell. Great.
2new students: ur participation grade will overlap 2 the next grading period, she'll dbl the effect of wat u initially got. EX: 60/100pts then 130/200pts instead of 60/100 & 70/100
I'm so glad she's teaching AP. I wish I had her for AP, I would have gotten a 5. She gets the best out of you and truly cares about her students. She's the best teacher I've had.
Awesome teacher; hard, but you learn a lot if you want to. She's willing to help if you ask for it and knows what she's talking about. I improved so much with her as my teacher.
It's simple: If you want to learn spanish, you MUST get Gangwere. She's an excellent teacher. This is my 2nd year with her and I find her dedicated and smart.
very tough class, but straightforward- you know what you need for an A, but is a TON of effort. (much better to have her first yr then second)
Gangwere is realllly helpful if you do your work. I learned alot from her and spanish ap is a breeze cuz of her. I had her for 2 yrs.
class is tough but you'll defi come out with a greater knowledge of spanish and a good work ethic. plus she's really nice and super helpful outside of class
after all those horror stories i heard before school started...shes not that bad. just do ur dang homework
This teacher is hard, if you had an easy teacher last year, get ready to work. Very hard course, but all in all you learn a lot, great teacher.
rough around the edges, but extremely organized, learned and straightforward. i learned an incredible amount and i remember a lot of it. planes de vuelo!!!!
