Mrs. Goodman was one of my favorite and toughest teachers this past year. Many may think that her tests are impossible (which is true), but that is only because the AP exam for euro is impossible. I think she teaches the best she can for the class because honestly most of the work is on you. The class is super hard, but it is manageable. She cares for us in a way that no other teacher really does; she actually has empathy! She does digress quite a bit, but it won't do any harm. She's great!
Ms. Goodman is such a good teacher. I had her this year for AP Euro and she was incredible. Her class is super hard, but you will learn a lot. She also helps you do well. Her tests are hard, but she curves them. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, so its not hard to do pretty well. Ms. Goodman is a super funny person who genuinely cares about her students. She is crazy, but in a very funny way
Ms. Goodman's class was my favorite this year but the most challenging. She gives very interesting papers but outlining the textbook is very tedious however unfortunately the only way to really do well.
Ms. Goodman is something special. Unlike many DOE teachers, she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I have had her for Euro and Art History, and to this day she has been the only teacher who can read me as a student. If she sees I'm upset, she will pull me aside after class to reassure me. When I won an election, she even called my house to congratulate me. She is like a second mother to me. She is hard, yet lenient; she is knowledgable, yet never pretentious. Love that woman.
She's better than Stieker
She knows a lot, but often goes off on tangents and her lectures are not well organized or easy to learn. To pass her class, you have to read the entire textbook and memorize every page.
The stress she causes me shortens my life span
Very nice person, very tough AP class. Wish didn't take AP Euro History because pulled down GPA. Didn't curves. She usually give you 20-30+ review sheets the night before exams. Bronx Science's AP courses are harder than the Honor courses in senior colleges. Too stressful!!
Ms. Goodman was one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is very knowledgeable and her class is very relaxed. She will treat you as adults so what you put into the class is what you get out of it. If you do what she tells you to do, you will get a 5 on the AP without a problem. Use the Birdsall book. It is very useful.
very knowledgable and honest
get to know her outside of class she's a real sweetheart
no semicolons lol
She knows a lot but cannot teach for her life.
Goodman is a very sweet person, and clearly knows what she is talking about. But she does not provide necessary resources. Her tests are unpredicatable, she provides no topics list, and her lectures are all over the place. Good person, bad teacher
You get out what you put in here. I was in her class two years and was editor for Exposition (Social Studies mag, does it still exist). Plays favorites? Yeah, probably, but what she cares most about is seeing students trying to really absorb the material and connect the dots. She used film more effectively than any teacher I have ever seen. I learned more about how to think in her class than in four years of college.
rambles and fails to acknowledge certain students in the class. Tests are hard but she is very knowledgeable
If there is one word that describes Ms. Goodman, it is knowledgeable. She knows AP European History front and back. She knows so much information and can recall so many dates and events. She has taught this course many years and treats her students like adults. I highly recommend doing the nightly readings and outlining chapters. Her tests are difficult, but if you study a lot, you will do well. By the end,you will be in great shape for the AP. She really cares about her students!
Ms. Goodman was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. The class felt like a college course and she treated us like adults. I feel like I've learned more about writing from her than most of my English teachers combined. She is a generous grader and has her student's best interests at heart.
People tend not to like her as they start her class (I'm talking about Euro here), especially because of the hard tests, but those are exactly the kind of stuff you'll see on the AP. She's -very- generous with curves, too. A 65% earns you a B most of the time. She teaches well if you bother to pay attention and is actually a pretty funny person. She grades writing fairly. If she's your new teacher, don't worry. Put in the effort to do well and you'll walk away with an A and a well-liked teacher.
Well, everyone said she's a by-the-book teacher. No textbooks yet in Art History, so for once she has to design the lessons herself. What a disaster. Her powerpoints are just pictures. You could at least write something down instead of blabbing about it and putting half the class to sleep.
No textbook = she has no clue how to give homework. 1 month in and NOBODY has a grade yet. Absolutely awful. Didn't even take the time to introduce herself on the first day.
she hasn't said a single useful thing this whole year
She can be a very demanding teacher, and you have to be prepared to put up with a lot if you want to get a good experience out of her class. She is a very interesting and engaging person, and definite
my sophomore year would have been perfect had it not been for this roadblock. Gave very tedious projects and papers, not sure if she herself knew what she was teaching,
She does not teach anything. She gives extremely general information and rarely is this information ever worthwhile, who cares how louis XIV powdered his wig. She is also very unclear about her proj
One of the worst teachers anyone could ask for. Teaches nothing and expects an unfair amount of work on the student. Is very unclear with the homework assignments and is very unhelpful. Her tests a
plays favorites too much, annoying, doesnt teach that well, u need to do the work or else u will fail her extremely hard multiple choice tests; harsh on writing but in the end its very helpful
Words cannot express the hate I have for this teacher. She says nothing of importance during class, and gives exams based solely on the textbook. She does no teaching of her own, at least not teachi
Her class is interesting, but it is very by-the-book. During class, she just sits and talks to you about the curriculum, and does't require notes, (although she will harass you if you don't take them)
everyone who is saying negative things here is just too scared to admit that they didnt belong in her class. Its exclusive. If you do belong, you will love her and she will get the best out of you.
shes a pretty good teacher, she can be pretty funny and it not that harsh. Her test are hard but they're not that bad so stop complaining
she's a great teacher some people say she's harsh, i think its only with her sophomores, but i have her as a senior she's so sweet and funny in a her own way
She's a great teacher who really cares about her students. But, her courses (especially AP Euro) are extremely hard and you have to work hard. But, she's very dynamic and an interesting person. Oh, an
plays favorites but is a total sweetheart if you get to know her. do the readings, take notes, and euro will be a good experience if you let it.
Her multiple-choice tests will make you cry. Even if secretly. And even if you think you're tough. They're SO dang hard since everything LOOKS right, but isn't.
Is there a reason why the dud from 10/24/10 posted so many times? Ridiculous. And ew, 11/14/10. Just EW.
idk why no one likes her. everyone you ask will say shes good, just really hard teacher. she gets u a 5 on the test, its just lotsa work. its important to get her to like you by participating.
Be prepared for a very by-the-book class. Her objective is to get you a 4 on the AP test with NO delays permitted. Do everything exactly as she tells you with no deviation and you'll be fine.
She thinks most of the population in China cannot drive. I hate generalizations.
LOL "The Prince" isn't that long. It's ~80 pgs, but if u were exaggerating, then yeah; really long to read for some ppl. Anyway, I don't like Machiavelli, making this assignment hard to do. :-( Uggghh
For upcoming HW, her sophomores must read and analyze Machiavelli's 400-or-so page "The Prince". That book was meant for rulers, not 14/15-year-olds (not even über-smart ones). See what's wrong here?
People used to scare me so much about her that I was horrified to see her name in my schedule on the first day of senior year. But after a year, those stories were just myths. Ms.Goodman is so chill
Class was fairly easy, but Goodman definitely plays favorites and is a bit of a flake.
Her class was definitly a challenge and the tests were really hard. But in the end it was worth it considering that most people got 4 or 5 on ap test. If your not her favorite, it gets annoying.
just quit now. okay well if you're up for TONS of work go for it.. in the end i got a 4 so she must've been helpful but i still hated her and the class.
Really knows her stuff. I learned so much from her, although I have never had more work for any other class in my life. really prepares you for college and beyond. Cares a lot for her students.
be ready for some hard work!! Truthfully, I hated her class.
Great teacher. I did sbsolutely nothing in her class and I'm pulling 80's. Being able to get material to you like that is uncommon. Great teacher, great person.
shes a really good teacher but her class is intense and hard. She also tends to pick favorites and leaves everyone else out.
if u are capable, this class is fine to take as a sophomore. expect hard work. YOU MUST BE INTERESTED IN HISTORY TO TAKE HER COURSES. especially euro. she knows sooo much and is willing to help you if she needs to. she expects you to do the work. not her. she is kind of brilliant, actually. if u feel stupid, u are taking it too personally. she doesnt mean to be nasty. i know because she is very smart and very nice. people like her don't make fun of people like that.
expects a lot of independent work. if you do the homework, you'll get in the 90s and a 5. if not you'll get in the 80s and a 4 (like i did). knows her stuff though.
definitely knows euro. i didnt do a single homework assignment and got and 85 and a 4. nice and generous. tries to be fun.
great teacher. can be a little intimidating but just do ur work and try. rly helpful and truly cares for each student.
prissy and annoying... she tells a bunch of stories in class that aren't really important... the DBQs she gives are helpful in the long run though, even tho her tests are hard
She'll bring you doughnuts and oranges in the middle of the AP exam... how could you beat that? Seriously not deserving of the reputation that she has...
TAKE EURO, you won't regret it. It's great, and you really do learn a lot. Much better than AP US. we all miss mrs. Goodman, she is the best!!
SHe has favorites- as much as I dont want 2 say it, it's true =(
When I signed up for her AP euro class as a senior, I thought I had signed my death contract.Turns out, ms goodman is awesome.Lenient on due dates. There isn't a lot of hw. MCQs tests are a killer tho
its hard, but its ap, so thats not her fault. she knows everything there is to know and the class has a great atmosphere because everyone there is serious about it & she really knows what she's doing
She's a really good teacher and knows what shes talking about, but the course is really hard. Still, she's really cool and fair about late homeworks.
i definty thaight she wouldnt let me hand in all my late stuff but she toatlly smiled and was like "thanks"
She is really smart. although there is too much work and the tests are terrible, she always raises the grades to give us more than we deserve. i like her a lot.
the class is pretty tough & intense, but she does a great job of preparing u for the AP. she's annoying at 1st, but we all loved her by the end.
i dont know. when she's teaching the class something SHE is interested in class can be REALLY funand interesting. there IS a LOT of work though
it's almost as though she discourages some students from participating, very little feedback on whether your answer is right or wrong. not too energetic either.
She is a really good teacher. SHes knows her history and the ppl taht dont do good, are the ones who fool around. She does not favor alot like others think.
overall a really good and fun teacher, really cares about all of her students.WARNING:is known to randomly start singing, dancing, and doing accents(she tries)
she favors her ap euro class and she has favorites in those classes...and she doesn't prepare us well for her tests...she's unclear as to what's on her tests
Tests weren't that bad if you had the right mindset (or ability?). Nice but will not give you the grade you want if you don't participate.
Mrs. Goodman is a great teacher. She prepared me well for the AP- I got a 5 without doing so much work in the class, just on her lecturing. She is smart and fun
Despite the rambling, she still managed to get across a lot of conceptual history that I didn't appreciate at the time. Her tests definitely prepare you for the AP, but of course you need to study on your own.
I'm glad I'm not in her class anymore. It was nauseating how she had her little group of favorites who could do no wrong. She would just ramble on about what interested her and not prepare us for her extremely difficult exams.
Pretty good teacher...hard tests. Got a 4 on the AP and she raised my grade the following school year. Kinda loud...and can hear her all the way down the hall, but that's just Mrs. Goodman. She's really nice too if you try and talk to her.
Very knowledgeable but extremely harsh in terms of grading
Not spectacularly clear about her expectations, but she was a nice lady and I worked hard and was rewarded, both on my report card and my AP.
In my four years of BS, Goodman has been the most outstanding social science teacher I've had. She's not easy, but the information she gives you stays with you for a very long time.
although she may seen a bit out of it at times shes really intelligent and she knows what shes talking about
She's definitely tough & she does get sidetracked, but I've had much worse & she really does treat us like adults. We learn a lot.
She doesn't understand that being a teacher means covering all of the material in the curriculum. The class is fun but she waists our time, she's unreasonable and biast in her teaching. She definitely, definitely picks favorites.
While it is evident that she prefers some people over others she definetly knows wut she's talking about. You do learn a lot from her because she doesn't hand everything on a silver platter. There is a method to her madness.
Stay on her good side and then she's easy, nice and funny. If she doesn't like you, be prepared for a year of low grades you don't deserve. Plays favorites so blatantly it should be illegal.
she's so vague about everything. I don't know why people think she's good.
she treats her students like adults which is great. doesnt play favorites as much as people think.
