he's legit just there to help you. if you don't even have him anymore but have a question about something in your own history class he will answer. be nice to him since he is one of the best teachers at hunter. he always seems happy and is more than knowledgeable. study, though! it's not an easy A.
Mr. Kagan is an amazing person and teacher; he cares a lot about his subject, is ridiculously knowledgeable about it, and you can tell he's a nice person and cares about the kids that he's teaching. That said, his class is hard.We had thrice the work as the other classes and our tests were much harder. Even though Mr. Kagan genuinely tried to make our lives easier, he expects a high grade of rigor; if you're ready to put that in, then you will love him. If not, try to keep an open mind!
Mr. Kagan is really nice. However, he gives quite a bit of homework and is very heavy on the handouts/ textbook readings/ documentaries. You MUST do your homework and take notes on what he says in class-- his tests are pretty difficult and often have questions specific to certain handouts. That being said, he's one of the most knowledgeable teachers I've ever had (if you ask a one-sentence question, he will give you a solid five-minute answer at least).
Okay. Here's the deal-- Kagan actually teaches like history teachers should. He's super passionate about the subject, and classes are mostly just a discussion of whatever packets we got handed out/ homework we did/ films we watched (you do have to take notes). He's a super nice person, but his class is NOT easy-- tons of homework and grades his (difficult) tests harshly. (Yes, I'm writing this review instead of doing my Global V homework... rip)
So amazing and rly nice. So willing to help and super engaging class. If rly funny tho also. Obvious he rly cares about his students, hands down one of my fav teacher at hunter ever. also the man is crazy smart, no wonder he is chair.
Mr. Kagan is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's hilarious n]but somehow we still learn something. also he has really helpful review guides and the homework doesn't take that long!!!!!!! <3<3<3 i mean, he is the chair for a reason...
I think he knew his stuff and liked what he taught, but he seemed to give homework, even when it wasn't necessary. I always had many things going on in that class, and it was hard to keep track of at times. He's pretty strict about tests though.
Mr. Kagan really knows what he teaches and has a passion for the things he teaches. If you ask him a question, you'll be sure to get a good response (which is so useful). He's pretty understanding when you don't know the answer (he calls on you all the time without you raising your hand). His classes are pretty hard because he covers a lot of stuff in depth for the test. This is the one class that you need to pay attention in. The tests are pretty direct but difficult. Term papers are hell.
He clearly knows his stuff, but his class is very boring...and long, we have him last period and he always lets us out late.
Mr. Kagan is pretty cool! He really knows his stuff, and is nice. And, his discussions are actually really interesting compared to my other social studies classes. It's hard to keep track of all of the handouts and his tests cover a lot, but I feel like I'm actually learning something which is nice!
I really like Con Law. The debates in class are terrific. The readings are tough. Mr. K is super helpful.
CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! CLAW! CLAW ! CLAW!
His tests are super-hard becuz they cover so much material at once. But otherwise, he's a pretty good teacher.
Irv isn't very good at the logistical side of teaching--getting tests back in a timely fashion, letting us out on time, etc. He's also given to going on long tangents. But he is incredibly well-learned in his subjects (especially in Conlaw) and he asks questions that really push us to think harder about everything. Also, although it doesn't always seem like it, he's very on top of students' progress and his grading is never too far off-the-mark.
Hes a great teacher but its the material that he covers that makes his class hard.
He's a pretty good teacher, but global is just... so boring. He doesn't make it fun.
i had him this year for 10th grade. i love you irving. even though you didn't teach us anything and never grade anything and it's fairly obvious the only thing you care about is food and con law, you are the best. tests are easy out of control and he grades easy on whatever he gives back. unfortunately, the 10th grade term paper was graded pretty badly
Discussions are not very engaging. I don't really feel like I'm learning anything. But he's ok
classes r amazing, great thought-provoking discussions, only if you know global inside out though. otherwise ur doomed cuz he doesn't teach instead he prefers movies & LONG packets
I LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM TO DEATH AND WANT TO BE HIS CHILD BRIDE
Really smart, enthusiastic, and a good teacher. Nice sense of humor too :)
Graduated a while ago. Great sense of humor. Willing to take time outside of class to talk. Nice person. Give him a hug.
Mr. Kagan is an awesome teacher and I learned a ton in his class.
