He knows his stuff, but he has a bad habit of not finishing his thoughts and moves on. He expects you to do the textbook reading that he never assigns by yourself because it was you who signed up for the course. For the recall tests, read the textbook because most of the answers are straight from the TB. He doesn't know everyone's name, but once he knows your name, prepare to hear your name for any reason. Good luck if you have him, as iI personally think he teaches his AP class Regents level.
He's really chill, and that's basically the only good thing about it. I have him first, and im late quiet often, but he doesn't seem to care. BUT HE DOES NOT TEACH. his hw is always answering question that HE BARELY MENTION ANYTHING RELATED TO THEM. AND HE EXPECTS YOU TO WRITE A PAGE FOR EACH QUESTION OR AN ESSAY, he usually assigns 2 to 3 questions due a few days later. literally u are better off without him and just learn on your own, but since u have to have a teacher, hes not that horrible.
Great guy very friendly and just pay attention his class is interesting
Although I didn't learn anything, Pratt is so kindhearted! Bring ur own review book and read during his lectures!
This class is the perfect example of Study a lot and you'll do extremely well; if you are looking to learn, take this class.
probably one of the best classes one can ever get. Caution. you will never ever learn anything from the class. i used a review book one month before the AP and aced it. its just like a lunch class without lunch and loitering...but its a great class for bringing up your grade, sleeping, etc.
Pratt himself is a very chill guy, just dont get on his badside. like my friend who once pointed out Pratt's misspelling and use of videogame pics for his ppts...he never managed to over an 85
Just transfer out.
Impenetrable accent; gives frustratingly difficult tests on things never covered in cl@ss. He doesn't seem to distinguish between his Regents and APUSH cl@sses. Occasionally gives laughable PowerPoints made in the late 90's with grainy jpegs of Dana Scully.
It's difficult to rate Mr. Pratt because it's an easy class, but he doesn't give you a high grade unless you're the kind to answer every question and get down on both knees. He doesn't teach much in class, doesn't really check your homework, and doesn't have a real grading standard. The "standard" is 95 for my pets and 80-85 for everyone else.
if youre taking AP USH, youre completely screwed if you have pratt. hes a terrible teacher. you can honestly do whatever you want in class. OH! and he never reads homeworks and just gives out checks to everyone. one of my friends put in a paragraph of sexuality and pokemon and CHECK. PLUS! w-t-f?!? test grades dont really matter, youll get an 80 minimum no matter what. if you want the high 90s, bring your review book and answer class question directly from it to look like a smart a-s-s.
The grade is easy if you read the textbook, but don't expect to learn anything on your own. Get a review book for the AP since Pratt has very little idea of whats on the actual test. Participate and he will like you. For the 3 essays he gives a week, Wikipedia is your best friend.
doesnt teach, easy grades, not a teacher to learn from
This is the easiest class I have ever taken. If you participate its a free 100 in that category. Unfortunately, you wont do very good on the AP for we don't learn much. Every essay on a test is a free 40/40. So in conclusion: good teacher to bring up your average, not wonderful if you are looking to learn
extremely easy class, but doesn't teach much in class, all individual motivation. a great person to talk with
Mr Pratt is AWSUME. I had him for first period, came to class 30 minutes late every day and slept for the rest of the time and still got a 92 in his class. He is the easiest teacher ive ever had and the chillest guy. All you have to do is get on his good side and talk to him every once in a while and your guaranteed a good grade. Oh and he writes amazing college recommendation letter. <333 you mr pratt
Mr. Pratt is actually a very great guy. He is very knowledeable and you can tell he knows A LOT about history and is really passionate about it. He is also really nice in class. Yes, the course work is hard and we seem to not cover everything, but to everyone complaining: READ THE TEXTBOOK. That is the best way to get a good grade on the AP because this is a college level course and in college, you will be depending on your textbook anyway.
I just transferred to Mr. Pratt's class, and he did not hide the fact that he doubted if I was qualified to take the class. He asked for my average from last years global class. I told him and he said that he didn't think I deserved the grade and that my teacher was probably sorry for me. WHAT?! He only knew me for five minutes! He didn't even have me for a class yet! Plus, he had this whole convo in front of the class, even after I suggested talking outside of the classroom. So humiliating.
Obviously the coolest teacher you will ever have. Got a 3 on the AP but hey wasn't really his fault. I just didn't take the class seriously. But Mr.Pratt is definitely the coolest teacher.
Did not learn anything in his class. He doesn't assign hws and expects you to read the textbook on your own. Participate in class and he will like you. Study the AMSCO book to get a good grade on AP
really nice guy, get to know him and he will give u a huge boost on ur grade. ap us is not that hard, so just sleep in his class and prepare for ur other classes.self study for the ap and u'll be fine
Horrible teacher. You are literally wasting 45 minutes of your life in his class. You can sleep in front of his face, 3 cm away (everyday) and he will not care. He picks favorites. If he likes you, takes your test average 10-15pts. If he has no clue who you are, it'll still be a 5-10 points. If you question his grading/teaching in anyway, he will try to humiliate you and utterly fail at it. It's best to buy a review book such as AMSCO and read in his class instead of listening to his irrelev
Horrible teacher. He knows A LOT about the subject, but just isn't able to keep the students interested enough to educate them. He expects us to read the textbook without actually assigning work, besides the essays that he assigns really inconsistently. I feel like I'm wasting my time every time I walk into his class, because I could easily gain as much information from only reading the textbook. He can also hardly speak/write English, and is just generally irritating and hard to take seriou
Too nice and lenient, and the general consensus is that he doesn't really "teach". He gives boardfuls of notes that you needn't copy; just study on your own. I was either late or cut every other day and got 99 on regents, 4 on AP without studying, so he had to give me a 90. I suggest you buy some review books to supplement if you want a 5 on the AP. -V
Horrible teacher. Can't spell for his life. His notes are horrendous. I'm probably going to get a one on the AP exam.
Very nice guy. Class is very easy. However, you pay for all that on the AP Exam. Unfortunately I got a 3, thanks to his lack of "real" teaching. I suggest you study on your own.
Ask anyone in the school. He is possibly the nicest guy in the building. Therein lies the problem. Sometimes he is too nice. He never assigns homework, and although it makes the class REALLY easy, we end up paying for on his exams and especially the AP. For his class, you are going to actually have to do work on your own to keep up to speed with the curriculum. (His notes can sometimes be unorganized, too. . .)
Good teacher. A little irresponsible sometimes, but definitely one of my favorites.
Mr. Pratt is an excellent history teacher he gets the class so hyped into discussions sometimes it gets out of hands lol but he is fair and tries his best so that you are prepared for the Ap exam
Great teacher. Even if you get in the eighties for the tests, as long as you are an active participate during his lessons you'll get by fine. I went from an eighty-five to a ninety-five by participating in his class. By participation, you also remember things easier than simply listening to him talk so it's like hitting two birds with one stone. He doesn't really read the homework but it's important you do the homework and show "proof" that you met the "requirements," like in his DBQ essays.
Good teacher. I dont really wish to explain why; if you do poorly in his class it is possibly because your exam grades are low.
Why is it that it feels like my history teachers are the one's that can grip my interest and offer fair, comprehensive lessons that should be given in every subject? Pratt is a good teacher like my previous teacher. He is not out to fail you and does not even press for lower grades even if you deserve it. He rewards you for achievements with an honest grade that you can understand and provides fluent information on history from the abyss of information in the huge recesses of his mind. Very good
Really nice and smart teacher but it doesn't seem like he's really good at teaching. Writes a board full of notes that are hard to comprehend and has really awkward lessons. Tests are hard but he inflates his grades.
Very intelligent, had the mind of a genius and remembers absolutely everything, even what he was taught in college.
Really good teacher. Gets kinda lost sometimes but he is very smart.
Very flexible, and a nice guy in general. I think I am learning more from the text book that him, no offense.
He's weird and funny. I didn't learn much in his class, but he's very lenient, especially if he likes you. ^_^ all you need to do is appear smart. but it wouldnt hurt to be smart. just read the textbook and participate, but dont take advantage of him, because he's way too cool and kind and he knows every single little thing you do in class -- yes even if you sleep or like...doodle, whatever you kids do nowadays.
Great guy, too lenient, but great teacher very knowledgeable you just gotta pay attention participate and read the textbook, when people contribute to his class the lessons get much better
cool guy, awesome grading system and has alot of knowledge, u jus need to pay attention to wat he says in class, its usually wat is on the test
His class was filled with magic - the second you walked in you were inside an impenatrable anti-logic forcefield.
Had him twice. The first time he didn't know who I was so my grade wasn't that great. The second time I had him was for economics. I didn't know anything but since he finally figured out who I was and thought I was a nice kid, he gave me a really nice grade for trying. He was funny and really knew his stuff but people didn't understand him.
The defining characteristic of his class is boredom. His is very disorganized as a teacher and his lessons are extremely awkward.
He's a great guy and I'd recommend him to anyone. He really does know his stuff, but he's not too great in spreading that knowledge to the masses. Just be respectful in class and do what you're supposed to do.
Never ever reads the hwk. Definitely has favorites. You can always learn more from the textbook. Very repititous, but extremely nice and funny. Horrible notes.
mr. pratt is so nice. i hate how people manipulate him. his tests are really hard. you really have to study to keep up those 90+ grades. but mr. pratt is great!
he tried but I didn't learn a lot. Got 126 on one of the test and a 75 on the other. That's how uneven a teacher he was. 96 in the class and 95 on the Regents!!!
I like him because he laughs at my jokes and he speaks with an accent. He is a confused person like myself. Good grader.
Very nice man, funny, tries to help, doesn't check HW enough, hardest tests I ever took. I like him a lot, but he's not the best History teacher.
He is a very intellegent person, but doesn't use coherent language and ideas. Gives you alot of terms and expects you to figure out what they are for yourself.
Man... I can learn a thousand times more from the textbook than from him. He never reads our homeworks and has no idea what's happening in the class. BOO!!
mr pratt is one of the best teachers to have senior year. unfortunately i dont im sure id graduate if i had him for eco if he teaches it
He's a good person. But doesn't like being corrected. And gives the HARDESTS tests, you have to do some reading/research on your own.
real nice! funny. not good at teaching. he has a lot of facts in his head but can't seem to get them out in a coherent manner. im worried bout AP!
You really need to pay attention in his class to understand what he's saying, but he's the easiest grade in the school...
he has a great personality real nice man cares and funny and does know history
Never teaches, easy to pass class....terrible teacher to learn from
Pratt is the man cause he gives good recomm. decent class-u'll enjoy the debates
knowledgable but he can't teach at all...gives us AP notes in honor class
very easy class, got 94 on regents didnt learn much, to much useless notes
Very knowledgeable but not good in classroom. Highly irrational and tempremental
taught us different stuff than H4H class for 3 wks & gave the same test
really nice guy, but I don't think he knows anything about history
