mr mccluskey is one of those teachers that likes you and will give you a good grade and helps you learn a lot only if you put in the effort. dont just use his class as a resource but learn and even thought there's a lot of repetition that wouldn't actually happen if everyone practices but i dont think i know one person that practices i never practiced
Reading the recent reviews it sounds like little has changed over the years with this guy. I knew him before he was at st johns and, even all these years later, I couldn't agree more about remembering him for "all the wrong reasons." Frankly I'm surprised he's still teaching.
Had him more than 15 years ago. Often abrasive to good students but coddled troublemakers who disrupted class

If you like playing the same songs year after year, he's your guy.
He wants you to do well. If you don't take his class seriously, he'll treat you like a child. And STD's are cool.
at first, i hated the class.first month, just did scales, but since then, i have learned alot, more than i learned by myself. he picks favorites (i think i'm one), but he's a great musician.
i'm not gonna lie. I've learned a lot from this guy.
Give this guy a break. He's got little to work with in terms of student talent at SJ. If you want to improve, he'll help you. The problem is, most of his students don't.
McCluskey is awright. Its easy to get an A, but he can be a tool.
His classes are a joke. Don't waste your resource period taking his bs everyday.
