I'm not gonna lie--I tried SO hard to do well. I studied the book, his lectures, took great notes and still couldn't get a good grade. Then I went to college and got straight A's in chem--so I guess he IS helpful. Your high school GPA won't reflect that, though.
I don't understand the ridiculous bashing going on here of Dr. T. He's an awesome guy. A bit of a hard class, but once you realize that you have to do a bit of work and you'll do fine, its a lot of fun. I loved that class.
You don't get to appreciating Thompson until after you've had another proffessor. It doesn't seem like you learn right away, but he does a phenomenal job at preparing you for university-level chemistry (even if you have a two year break between his class and your college class). It's a shame he retired. His entire sequence and course layout seem so logical once you realize that every other chemistry prof can't teach.
this guy made my sophomore year. The class was great, I learned so much, and I ended up getting perfect on the satII cause of it. Shame he left, I wish I had him for AP. The class is moderately hard, but you work at it and you'll do well.
i think he's a good teacher..like he knows what he's doing and is able to teach it. but his principles are pretty bad. like oh man. and labs and tests are like..brutal.
I don't think that he is a bad teacher! His tests are just difficult, but he teaches you pretty well. I mean, I've learned so much from him and he's a nice guy. Just the tests are quite difficult.
hes strange cant speak english ... lol "maysure iy'rn" he gives homework on things he doesn't teach he cant teach period ... he teaches offa powerpoints which hes supposed 2 post so that we can use it for reference but doesn't actually post it until the day before a test .... he grades labs and tests really hard hes not fair not approachable ... his tests are always way harder than our homework which is the opposite of what should be ... hes a really unfair grader and yet he claims to be generous ... ha!!!
I like Dr. Thompson, you just have to be very hardworking in order to get decent grades in the class. He's definitely very helpful when it comes to answering questions...
He's actually a good teacher- you just have to study! His main problem is clarity.
He is really not that bad of a teacher but he still doesn't have a solid grasp of the English language. "Maysurement"...LOL. And starting at those bland powerpoints for 1 hour 4 days a week is just... ugh.
Dr. Thompson is a really good teacher. His style of teaching allows me to understand chemistry more. Hes not easy though.
u learn a lot...but he mixes stuff up a LOT...and can't he find another way to convery information other than powerpoint?
he's actually not that bad as everyone says.. but maybe that's cause it's only the first trimester i like the whole site with all the powerpoints.. that helps
He's an OK guy. You must have a VAST knowledge of chemistry before you take his class in order to be somewhat successful.
